Hello Bitcointalk!

We will not write long texts and leave a beautiful presentation for later.

In short - we want to revive the i-ram technology, once created by Gigabyte, later forgotten, but very interesting.

You can read about the technology itself here - https://www.gigabyte.com/hr/Press/News/404

In short, this is a RAM disk on a separate PCI-e card, with several slots for regular RAM and a battery. In the system, this device is defined as a regular disk, but has phenomenal speed parameters.

Naturally, we are adapting the technology to new realities.

Since the speed of even old DDR-3 RAM is much higher than the speed of even NVMe disks, and old server memory can be bought literally for a penny, such a disk can be interesting both for the business segment and for hi-end gamers, graphic designers and just for those wishing to install a RAM disk, without having to touch the computer's own RAM.

Our TODO-list:

-ECC memory support

-DDR3-DDR4 support (in different models of course)

-Using the PCI-e bus not only for power supply, as in the original technology, but also for data transfer.

What is great -
we have found a manufacturer who is ready to produce the first batch of new devices. Of course, this is China, a fairly well-known factory and engineering group.

The problem is now only in the base capital. For the purchase of the first batch, advertising etc

We invite you to take part in this adventure.

How?

This is where we would like to ask the community for advice. What will be more interesting?
- Issuing a token, distributing it among the participants, with the subsequent distribution of profits between token holders.
- Creation of our own coin, again with the distribution of profits between the holders, or with a direct redemption of the coin for a part of the profit.

We will be busy with creating a press announcement for now. If this topic is interesting, we will create a survey and in the next 4-5 days we will already decide on a decision.

Thanks for the feedback to the MiningClub forum participants. It helped a lot to fully formulate the terms of reference. The result was the following solution - the creation of a hybrid RAM disk with the ability to backup.

A slight departure from the idea of a clean RAM disk. Now the lineup looks like this:

Hi-end (basic model). PCI-e and SATA card (for connecting an additional disk used for redundancy). 4 DDR-4 slots (up to 2666Mhz), support for ECC Reg memory up to 64GB per module. Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery. Controller - Xilinx Virtex. The main task of the model is to work with a large number of write-rewrite cycles in highly loaded systems. The battery life without a connected backup disk is up to 10 hours. With connected - 4-5 hours. The backup is performed to the connected drive 3 minutes after switching to battery power and on 10-15% battery. Scheduled backups are also possible. Built-in software -  memtest analogue, battery status indicator. There are no external outputs, indicators include an indicator of the backup disk operation, a battery indicator, an indicator of errors.

Mid-tier. Card with PCI-e and SATA interface. 8 DDR-3 (SO-DIMM) slots, 8GB memory support per module. Battery Li-Ion 3000 mAh. Controller - Xilinx Spartan.

Low-tier. Card with PCI-e interface and SD slot. 4 DDR-3 slots, ECC Reg memory support up to 16GB per module. Li-Ion 1600 mAh battery. Controller - Xilinx Spartan.

Actually, our further actions are to request a price for these configurations, submit an application to Rospatent, and possibly check the performance of the configuration on the prototype board. Submission of an application is quite possible, since very little remains of the original technology used by gigabytes. It will be possible to buy the device first for residents of the Russian Federation, after a patent and certification - in the CIS countries, after - all other countries.
