Is it possible for a AMD gpu to be selecting motherboard to work with? I have a crazy AMD gpu here that refused to work in three different motherboards and only works in one old AMD motherboard, the card is ASUS RX590, crazy but true

How old is the RX590? I'm suspecting the pin mouth of the gpu may have some dirt on it, you should find petrol liquid and softly wash with a light brush, both sides and retry again, I'm made some of my old gpu work again this way

first the use eraser on all pcie gpu pin, or teardown the gpu and soak gpu board on detergent around 1hr and try clean it with brush, dry it, put on heater or dry in the sun

if nothing work, use steam solder, re-hot the board at 350C temperature

You have some cleaning to do, once dirt find their way into PC components you could think they aren't working anymore, do not be fooled though, clean the pcie slots and also the gpu pins too, I'm sure the card will be running again in no time

Check the hardware as others have said and did you get it used? Did you, or someone else put on a custom BIOS?
I have had some cards with "mining" BIOS act oddly with some boards.
Once I reverted back to stock the cards were more forgiving.

Never had one not work, but would have them stop mining till reboot, be slower then normal, etc.

If the gpu is old then the problem may be from the old owner, first check if the gpu has a bios switch, he or she probably flashed a modded bios on that gpu that's causing all the freak job, it might even be the motherboards unless they are new, partial contact can make a gpu to be selective
