I recently became the owner of an older Innosilicon T2TH+ 37TH.

It has the slider for like 16 different modes from efficiency to performance, and when I got it it was on "balanced ++" and had been tuned I assume.  It ran at 28TH and pulled 2200w from the wall.  Which isn't great I didn't think.  So I slid the slider to "factory."  Well that was 12 hours ago and it's drawing 2900w now and only hashing at 29TH AND still says:

"Please note the miner is autotuning, hashrate may vary until completion!"

How long does this normally take?  Also will it save my "autotuning" for next time or when I move the slider again to I have to sit through a week of autotuning again?

Thanks in advance for you knowledge and input.  I've had bitman and cannan stuff, this is my first inno unit!

they have issues.  typically

Balanced
Balanced+
Balanced++

are best 3 settings

any higher setting  suck power like mad and will burn the psu out.

So try Balanced+ for six hours.  check hash rate and power use every 2 hours.

My 3 units all under preform with my 37th model the worst of the 3

a 30th
a 39th much like yours
a 50th

but to be fair they all work after 1.5-2 years

I think the 50th can do factory -

I will check.

the 50th does factory+ and 51th it is 18 months old

the 39th does balance+ and has 1 good board it is 22 months old

the 30 th does efficiency  and 21th it is 2 years old

Thanks phil...as always you are the best!

 How long does autotune typically take though?

Also when I slide it back to balanced ++ will it just remember the settings and be off to the races, or am I looking at another 24 hours of autotuning?

YIKES, why am I on 12 then?

Does that message go away and the miner reboot?  What am I doing wrong?

nothing very likely it is troubled due to the high power setting.

Try:

  Balanced
 -Balanced

It has always had issues on higher settings. (my 39th) was the worst of the 30th,39th,50th

Thanks again, I'm not super impressed so far....  I'll drop the slider down to balanced and see what happens.  I'll be sure to report back.

Also where is the miner log?

3 days to autotune the miner is just way too long and I don't think I would believe that, assuming the miner tunes every chip individually (which needs the most time) it shouldn't be move than 24hrs to do that, in fact even half that is way too long.

This might be caused by a bad chip that forces the autotune to keep dropping its frequency down to the specified minimum number which could be for example 100 while the tuner starts at 700, but unless the firmware is really stupid that shouldn't take forever, could you post the logs here?

Yeah, and everything I've ever seen auto tune reboots a few times and saves setting intermittently.  a long time is like an hour or 2.

Then there's the fact that it states it should be 30 minutes.   Also when I save the setting the gui states "Tuning takes about 30 minutes and the result will be saved and used for again at reboot.  Please note hashrate will vary during the tuning process."

Logs -  I wish... no access to logs.  It's not an option anywhere and I even tried

/log
/logs
/minerlog
/minerlogs
/kernellog
/kernellogs

The crazy thing is, the hashrate doesn't change... It's rock solid at 19 - 20 TH (although that's super low) with almost no variation, but on the status screen " Please note the miner is autotuning, hashrate may vary until completion!"

It's the weirdest thing.

Why would they do that? it's probably hidden somewhere, try to inspect the main page and look for hidden pages/tabs.

Can you attempt a hard reset using the reset button on the control board?

1) I will look for a hidden tab when I get home.

2) I can try a hard reset too.  I have software rebooted from the gui a few times, but never a hard reset, maybe that will kick me out of this loop.  May also try unplugging and leaving unplugged for a few minutes then plugging back in.

Like I said, the hash is solid, almost never wavers away from 19/20.  Spec are 23TH on eff, 30 TH on balanced and 37TH on performance.  Graph is like a straight line!

No hidden tabs that I can find.

hard reset.  It's tuning we will see.

... the hash is solid, almost never wavers away from 19/20.

Then it is not tuning at all, tunning should have a fluctuating hashrate rate, it would settle down at one point before it drops again and then attempt to go higher or lower than the previous high, the intervals will pretty much depend on how the firmware is coded, but you should see fluctuation in the hashrate every couple minutes.

... hard reset.  It's tuning we will see.

Good luck, hope this works.

latest report.. no change to autune situation, but upon further digging I found the following information.

1.) There are a lot of hardware errors.  It is reporting 105,506 HW errors spread pretty evenly across all boards after 20 minutes... that seems like alot?
2.) I found on the help site that 192.168.1.1/mlogs should reveal a log.  It doesnt.
3.) I have the latest firmware according to the auto updater, but I did find an older version on github. Give it a go?
4.) I also found a management software, when I ran that I got all sorts of options.  The most curious was the statistics report:

Tag Hash = 28TH/s
Realtime = 22.22TH/s
Achieving 79.4%
Mode = Balanced
Dead Chains = 0
Sick Miners = 0

Error Stats:
Errcode 0
Sum = 1
Total = 1

Do I have errocode 0?  or do I have no errors?  I cant find anything on error code 0.

ALSO and this is the biggest piece maybe.  THE MINER IS A T2TH+ 37T but the firmware is for T2THL+.

I can't change the firmware to any other type than the T2THL+ through the gui, it give me a mismatch error.

I FIXED IT!!!!!

Step 1 - flash older firmware
Autotune forever

Step 2 - factory reset old firmware
Autotune forever

Step 3 - flash back to newest firmware and factory reset
Autotune forever

Step 4 - CHANGE MY POOL TO SLUSH-POOL
Tuned in 42 minutes

I had it pointed at miningrigrental and from there to antpool, btc.com and slushpool.  I dropped the MRR relay and pointed straight to slushpool and away we went.  I tuned it at eff++, I'm trying balanced+ now.

Why I didn't think of this earlier I'll never know!
