I couldn't agree more - AFAIK all of my wagers have been run -  not sure if anyone else has outstanding bets (it'd be funny if we were waiting on something like the NFL or Wimbeldon results with a 100:1 wager) Wink

Anyways, I don't think I'll claim the title as most of my wins were ~ 2:1 (not enough of a win)

Let me wrap this up as soon as possible and there are more similar events in the pipeline. Could be a sportsbook specific instead of open to all sportsbook though. Let me know if you'd like to see more Open to all tournaments or a specific sportsbook ones (which would be easier to manage, since we can tweak the software for the bets to directly be entered into the contest). I should have updated the sheets on daily basis so its easier to follow the standings. Hopefully next time.  Smiley

Yeah, would be looking forward to that. I did join as I said but stopped because it was too hard to follow the leaders anymore but I would suggest a specific sportsbook, easier to share bet IDs instead of screenshots (so the sportsbook can verify for you). And yeah easier to follow daily updates would be really cool to motivate people to keep posting:)

Good luck next time:)

Yeah, once you skip a day it's hard to get back.
I'd advise it to be highest yield ,and not ROI.
No need to set minimum odds or minimum amount of picks.
Only prematch picks count.

If it's a specific sportsbook it's hard because some users are limited at some bookies, not all bookies have the same offer, and so on.
Minimum amount of picks is not very important but it is put in just as a fail safe so that a contestant's skill is averaged out to an extant over a course of time. Also, to keep the spirit of the tournament going. I'll give you an example. Lets say a player bets 20x as their first bet and wins. He might just stop betting altogether after that and react based on the competitors. The other way works as well, if you lose 1 bet, the min limit give you hope to carry on betting as there are 19 more bets to go and you'll surely win a fair few from them.

Also, can you explain what do you mean by yield? I had chosen ROI instead of +profits because from my testing, every other potential gauge can be exploitable. Lets say, we just calculate the difference of the stack from start to end. A person with 1 BTC will have a major advantage over a person with 0.001 BTC with respect to how much profit they've made. Please let me know. Once I'm done with the first installment. I am very much looking forward to host another contest which would me bigger and better. Could surely help the cause if you have any feedbacks on how to improve the current format.

Yield:
(aw - ab) / ab x 100%

where:
aw - Amount of winnings (how much money a player won)
ab - Amount of bets (how much money a player invested)

When you calculate ROI, the player that had a lot of bets on smaller odds will have advantage compared to the one that had the similar amount of bets on bigger odds.
You are only taking into the account the starting balance and end balance which is wrong because a player might not actually use the whole starting capital to obtain that profit.

It is general consensus among sports bettors that Yield is the way to go when calculating someones profitability.

So, how is the continuation of this tournament, is it going to make a new one with some changes or something?
But anyway, I am very curious about the results in this first round who will get the title "The Maharaja of Bitcointalk" or "The King of Bitcointalk"?
Interesting to look forward to! Cool

vennali, I'm sorry to hear about the COVID-19 situation. Of course, these days it's unpredictable and nobody can be consistently productive because there's always room for unexpected consequences. I was lucky enough to get my first shot of the vaccine this week, but it also depends on the country and circumstances.
Counting all the bets is a lot of work, so it'll probably take more time. I can see that my stats weren't updated yet.
Just let us know once it's done and whether we can help.
Good luck!

There's probably no continuation but vennali did said in his last post that there's more similar events in the works so it's likely we get to see another sportsbook contest in the near future. Maybe we'll see something along the lines of a pool prediction contest or survivor pool.
