Trezor hardware wallet released new update for their firmware and for Trezor Suite with some changes like support for Replace by fee (RBF), purchasing gift cards with Invity and smaller improvements with search, notifications and custom fees with adding tokens for ethereum.
With RBF enabled you can increase the fee for Bitcoin transactions and you can enable or disable it in settings.
They didn't mention anything about backend issues in this blog report, but let's hope they fixed it also, and I would also like to see manually generating or choosing new addresses.

Update is not mandatory, there are no important security updates and detailed report can be found on their blog page

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I like the lasted updates by Trezor, especially the replace-by-fee feature, and I like how it is well explained when to use it, although not new to Bitcointalk members, but will be new to many Trezor users. Also is the ability to add new ERC20 tokens manully and also able to edit the gas fee. Updating this to be able to make RBF transactions will really worth it, although organisations may not want zero confirmation for RBF transactions becaus such transactions can be double-spent, but it can help to increase the chance of transactions getting confirmed in time.

whether you have successfully updated new firmware on Trezor?
Everything usually works for me, I have the option both through the web client and also through Trezor suite to update the firmware. But after reconnect in boot loader mode, nothing happened.
Use Trezor One model currently with 1.8.0 firmware. It's boot loader version, suite read 1.9.3 as current firmware.
did I maybe miss some update in the meantime and now I can't jump to new 1.9.4 version?

No issues with the update for me... got an email from Trezor, downloaded the new version of Trezor Suite (21.2.2), installed it... connected Trezor ONE... it notified of firmware update, clicked OK... disconnected Trezor, reconnected while holding down both buttons to get in bootloader mode, and then followed the instructions on screen and on device to update the firmware.

Didn't wipe the device, (didn't need to re-enter seed etc)... and was able to sync all my accounts without issue.


NOTE: There was a note on the blog about the fact they released a "new" version of Trezor Suite pretty much immediately to correct an error with devices not being recognised:
Please note that an update has been released for Trezor Suite since the time of posting. Version 21.2.2 is the latest and will fix issues where a computer does not recognize your hardware wallet.

So make sure you're using 21.2.2! Wink

It worked fine the first time but there there was some issue with latest Trezor Suite update that resulted in error after opening app and computer could not recognize your hardware wallet but version 21.2.2 fixed that.
I think Trezor needs to make some better system for updating firmware without holding two buttons at the same time and disconnecting-connecting several times.

So Trezor was faster than Ledger when it comes to using the RBF feature through their native software. Now I expect Ledger to do the same in one of their upcoming LL upgrades. Ledger introduced the option in Ledger Live several moths ago, but it is still not possible to bump the fee through the Ledger Live app. Trezor Suite already can.

Has anyone tried purchasing gift cards with Trezor and Invity? What is your experience and are the fees acceptable?
My guess is that Invity being a third-party service which also deals with fiat will require KYC.

Regarding the ETH fees, I am surprised that the blog post mentions that you can now finally set custom fees through the Trezor Suite. I thought that the option to customize fees was already available.

Just downloaded latest Suite version. I haven't even used that app so far, it's first time installed on my computer.
Clear cache, restart PC, but still, nothing happened when connecting Trezor on bootloader mode. The same thing happened when trying to update the firmware through a web browser. (I am not doing this for the first time)

Possibly an issue with "Trezor Bridge"? Huh What version do you have installed? I know I had issues with the "beta" version (2.0.30) that I was using with the web-based beta wallet... and it seems that the latest version for download is actually only 2.0.27!!?! Huh Shocked Huh

Hm, I use version 2.0.30. Also, the latest which I can download is 2.0.27. whether I should actually go back to the previous Bridge version?

Yeah... try "downgrading" to 2.0.27 and see what happens... It's a bit of a "guess" really, as I am fairly certain that the Trezor Suite software doesn't even use the bridge to communicate with the device, as the bridge is for the browser.

But maybe if you have 2.0.27 you will be able to use the browser wallet to update the firmware? Huh

Still, it's very odd that the Suite is not recognising your device in bootloader mode... If downgrading the bridge still doesn't help, then I'd say you're going to need to contact Trezor support and ask them for assistance.

Yeah... try "downgrading" to 2.0.27 and see what happens... It's a bit of a "guess" really, as I am fairly certain that the Trezor Suite software doesn't even use the bridge to communicate with the device, as the bridge is for the browser.

But maybe if you have 2.0.27 you will be able to use the browser wallet to update the firmware? Huh

Still, it's very odd that the Suite is not recognising your device in bootloader mode... If downgrading the bridge still doesn't help, then I'd say you're going to need to contact Trezor support and ask them for assistance.

I don't think you even need to use Trezor Bridge with this new Suite software, it is only for Exodus wallet and some other third party wallets used in browsers.
Exodus wallet is not open source and it is still not supporting bech32 bc1 addresses when used only with Trezor.

Trezor wallet released update for their open source Trezor Suite beta software version 21.3.1 and I would recommend everyone to download it from official Trezor github and install on your computer instead of using web version.
There are many bugfixes shown in changelog, added replace-by-fee feature for ethereum, and they are preparing for next major update and getting out of beta phase.

Trezor suite is working much better than I expected and I like they have Tor support, and looks like trezor developers are also working on coinjoin and ownership proofs similar like in Wasabi wallet.
This will definitely be a game changer for hardware wallets, especially when Trezor adds their own open source secure element they are working on.

Just downloaded latest Suite version. I haven't even used that app so far, it's first time installed on my computer.
Clear cache, restart PC, but still, nothing happened when connecting Trezor on bootloader mode. The same thing happened when trying to update the firmware through a web browser. (I am not doing this for the first time)

The same thing happened to me once, it turned out to be the cable.  I was using a cheap cable, but of course I didn't suspected it was the issue until after going through the same steps as you.  I switched to the shorty that's provided with the Trezor One, and voila!

Updating a Trezor using trezorctl could not be any easier.  I updated one T yesterday to 2.3.6 and I didn't even have to enter my PIN plus my SD card with the SALT wasn't inserted at all.  The confirmation signature flashed up and I verified it and bam its loaded and works fine.  Positive signature verification makes me sleep easy at night using this method.

The old Trezor 1's are equally easy to update.  I leave those blank/unloaded since at this point they are spares now.
