Recently, i have been coming across more stories of person's that have forgotten their passwords or keys, and because of that, have lost their investments (btc and other coins) in the process.

Let us enlightenment ourselves, What could be some causes of this?
Could it be stress, elaborate passwords or something else (please state what you think is a cause).

From identifying the causes, i believe we will be able to get solutions.

Mostly users didn't save their phrases at a safe place and they even didn't know where there phrase was. And also users are present which forget to have the phrase key of their wallets. Also some users may be in a hurry through which they loss didn't save their key and thus this may be an area of losing the phrases of wallets.

It should be kept in a safe place like I can say we have to make some hardware wallets which are even best for the funds and our funds will be very safe in these wallets at any place.

I think it's normal to forget the password because it's not your priority, I also often forget my passwords to all my accounts including wallet maybe because the passwords are already saved on my pc so when I reset I forget them.
All I do is put all my accounts in notepad in case I forget they're all there.

(please state what you think is a cause).

How many passwords do you use? I'd assume one with a few variations [which you type every time not knowing your actual password].

What makes people to easily forget password is when they open an account or something that has password that doesn't mean so much but if it is something that is very important to them they will try their best to make sure the password is written ina note which they can always go back to it but if it is something that does not have much value for them,  they may not even decide to copy the password because it is not very important to them.

Major reason why many forget their password, key or pass phrase is due to engagement of many things that has to do with password and not being consistent on one password when opening a platform that require password or key, some is as a result of lacking record keeping by not storing it properly to a place they can easily access it when needs arise. Others courses including long time or failure to visit the sight or platform regularly after logout because a consistent login can make one remember the password because human get used to what ever he/she engage on daily basis in order word practice make perfect.

People forget their passwords for lots of reasons. One common one is they have too many passwords to remember especially with the increasing number of online accounts. If a password is not regularly used or is too complex it becomes more difficult to remember. Human memory also naturally fades over time making it challenging to remember specific combinations of characters. Stress, distractions or a lack of concentration can contribute to forgetting passwords.

That's right. Having a lot of accounts and different passwords will be confusing, and that's why some people are using password managers for them to quickly access their accounts with just a click away. But I think that people don't trust these kinds of features or apps to store passwords that's why they are using a primitive way which is writing them on their notes.

Password managers are a bad idea in my opinion. I don’t trust them at all. Far better to just write them down & keep them somewhere safe.

Forgetting passwords is something common between people and sometimes it doesn't cost any issue, but when it comes to the crypto world it is a serious matter.

It is very important to memorise your own password when it comes to wallets and some other accesses, because it is impossible to get your access back if you lost the password of your wallets. Most of the time the password to wallets is a private key that contains 12 or 24 words, it is very difficult to memorise these words, so most of people just save the words somewhere safe.

Generally what can cause forgetting your own password might be that either you put many different passwords here and there and you aren't able to remember which is which, or maybe because you set a password in a rush not taking it seriously leading you to forget it later when you need it, or sometimes some people tend to genetically have a weak memory.

This is why we always should take cautions when we do things like that.

Its has do with being complacent, at the same time some people are use to not writing their passwords but only on a piece of paper and then throw it away or just by remembering it but after a few years since its not being use like normal task they forget, this things are what i heard also from some of my friends, or their seed or keys.

There are so many things that make people to forget their password, first, lack of knowledge is part of some of the thing that make people to forget their password because they don't know how important it is to them until they can't remember their password to have access to their personal detail, secondly, depression is another thing that makes people to forget their password because their mind will not be there base on some of the issues that is affecting them at the moment.

I don't think there's anything wrong with "forgetting" your password.  I don't even know my bitcointalk password at the moment.  I personally think if you don't know your password, then it would be difficult to use it unsafely. Wink

I would be worried if my memory was the only thing keeping my logins safe.  I've learned over many years that it is best to have a solid means of recovery.  Being reliant on any one thing, memory, piece of paper, electronic file; will likely end up causing you problems.

So while you ask why people forget their passwords, I wonder why they ever knew them at all...

The point you made is clear and standard. Ordinarily, one've got alot in the head and on the mind. Even when you know that you know your passwords, you'll realize you forget them at times and time might come when you forget totally and that can't be a fault or error or mistake, somehow it seems normal.  This being the case, best and easy way up is HAVING IT DRAFTED SOMEWHERE ON A NOTE AND SAVED IN YOUR TREASURY AS IT MAY BE. Other means of keeping say electronic can go for reasons like mobility as you might need your password somewhere outside home. Like hdden text in your phone etc. Combo password keeping is best. Don't forget, you are not a computer to store everything but then can a computer loss data beyond recovery? Probably!

Internet companies imagines issues facing human that's why they try to improve password recovery. However, you cannot wait on them since some factors might deny you that service..  Paper and pen can do that magic together with any other means since the target is combine keeping.

Like making your password similar for different platforms can be a cheap trick to make you think that you can remember them all.
But you can imagine over dependency on your memory. It can disappoint. So when you suspect you have forgotten, the responses should be to check your unbiased database.

Yes stress (physical and psychological), elaborate passwords can make someone forget their personal keys, also long usage have saved it in your browser. But I think not having it saved in other places other than the memory is also a major reason why people forget their passwords.

This is usually caused by igbirants of the user to memorize their private keys or storing it somewhere else. They literally don't have the though of "in case or what it". As long as they are accessible to their wallets with their devices at any time, they are just too relaxed to consider emergency of their device to crash or lost so they could log on to an alternative device.

I think one major cause is definitely stress when people are under pressure, their memory becomes unreliable. Add that to using complex or rarely used passwords (especially ones we think we’ll remember), and it’s a recipe for forgetting.
Also, some folks try to be “extra safe” by not storing passwords anywhere digitally which is smart in theory, but risky if there’s no backup plan.
Maybe a good step forward is educating more people on secure but sustainable storage methods. Like using a reputable password manager, writing down recovery phrases and storing them safely (offline), or even setting up multi-Sig wallets where possible.
Just like we plan for the future of our investments, we should plan for their accessibility too.

As people age, their memory declines, and what they can remember is limited. However, they generally never forget a single, crucial secret password. This is especially true if you have multiple accounts, such as three bank cards with different passwords. Will you always remember them, or will they be vague? In today's world, the average person has at least four or five bank cards, so how many can they remember? However, it's much easier nowadays: if you forget your password, you can reset it, provided a scammer hasn't cracked it.

People tend to forget their password, not only on BTC related though, but in other things like, phone password, bank pin, Gmail and lots more.
And the major reasons can not only be channelled to old age as some young people also forgets, I will say from my observation people forget password when they are distracted, and stressed that is you were not focused at the time of creation and when it is finally time to login, you discovered that we were not attentive and get stranded in the process, there is this elderly Man I came across he went for transactions through POS but could not remember he's pin which is due to old age
At times some persons decides to write it down somewhere and due to some conditions losses it.

If u use passwords that are complex like upper and lowercase, numbers, symbols it makes them hard to remember especially when u have many unique passwords.

Also, for work I have to change my password every few months which can't be the same/similair to my old password makes it difficult.

A password manager is the best way for me to solve this issue but I would understand if people wouldn't trust this since if ur phone falls into wrong hands someone has acess to all your passwords.
