How can I delete my forum account?

There's no delete option here, but you can just change your account's email address, change password and logout. That's the easiest way.

You cannot. You can do the stuff that bL4nkcode suggested and you can also delete all of your posts but your nickname will stay. If you haven't used your account in 3 years, you can continue to do so.

Or PM theymos (forum admin) maybe he can make an exception for you but I don't think it will happen.

Instead of giving advice like others, can i ask you? You have been leaving this forum for over 3 years, to be honest, you can forget about it. Why did you come back here to ask a difficult question? All you need is to ignore it, remove it from your thoughts. Even though your username is here, I'm pretty sure no one will really remember you (I'm sorry, but it's true). Sometimes I think you're trying to get the attention of everyone here. You did it!

If this is the account you are referring to, just leave it with a random password that you never save after changing it. You can create a request thread to delete your account if needed (not sure if theymos approved your request). But you can never find any other way than some of the options currently suggested.

You can do the stuff that bL4nkcode suggested and you can also delete all of your posts but your nickname will stay.

Deleting all post will not erase the digital trace of the current forum account as LoyceV and TryNinja have backed up all post via their site. Everyone will find the post there.

I see you deleted many of your previous posts and that is enough, you can also move your topics to Archival section, and you can send private message to administration and ask them to delete and lock your account for privacy or other reasons.

You are gaining more attention which is even worst than deleting the account if your intention was to remain anonymous. I don't think anyone cares too much about you, in a positive manner

I think this option could be interesting for private purposes.

His posts could be kept, but the username could be changed "deleted" or something like that, similar to what Reddit does to deleted users.

You can not.

Theymos can give some special acceptance to change username with very convincing reasons. Not many cases were approved by theymos.

You cannot delete your account but there is a way not to use your account ever again. You only need to change your password in random that you cannot guess what it is and then log out. You can check it on the link provided by hd49728 which is the most easiest way to abandon your account and you won't have to delete your account at all.

Many members suggested changing your password to something random that you can't remember, but why go through that trouble? Maybe in a few years you will have a change of heart and wish to use the forum again. You have already received enough merits to rank you up to Member rank, with only the required number of activity points missing. It's good to know you have an account you can reactivate at a certain time in the future if you wanted to.

Just change your password to random characters.
Type a random long password in a notepad, copy that and go to your Account Related Settings and change your password there, then logout.
All your sessions in other devices will be cleared in case it is logged in those.

If theymos could be changed the profile username and put a word "Guest" under profile name by request like on these threads 1 and 2, that could be a way to delete the account for private purposes or any reason that could be lead to negative circumstances to the users.  Or, ask to change your username and leave the forum might also another option.  But if theymos wouldn't be granted this request, there's no way to delete your account and follow the suggestions above.

I'm thinking a possible negative outcome of this idea above, might not good for the forum if there are too many deleted accounts in the future.

Also you know the thing with the internet, once it is on, you cannot really delete it completely. Before you even attempt to delete what you put on the net; somebody, some bot, somewhere already archived it. It is usually google but there are many others. Instead of worrying about it just forget that it exists. Even if theymos deletes your posts and account, google will always return results.

There is no other way to delete a current forum account other than asking theymos to do it by changing the username to "guest" as I encountered before. I don't think forum have an easy way to delete or deactivate account like on social media. If anything, it would be easier for scammer to come and go and I think the current forum policies are fair enough for all users. The OP did not explain in detail the reason for wanting to delete the account, he really had to have a good reason.

Tell me why its so important for you to delete the account if you don't use it ? You can keep the account with you with the hope that someday you may need to post on the forum to ask any question about the crypto.
There should be no reason to delete the account of this forum and hence there is no option to delete it too.

I don't think he will do that for no apparent reason. As LoyceV pointed out, if the user made a mistake and added his real name or some other info that can lead back to him, he would have a valid case. There was a case recently where a user registered an account here, and instead of a username he added his email address. Now, that's a valid reason to request a name change. I think theymos honored the wish and the name was changed. But all quotes with his old username remain as they are and those would either have to be manually changed or deleted. That goes for quotes in this thread as well.

If you don't want to use the forum anymore, just move on, leave it, and if you want to delete your posts, you can do it so that your account becomes as much similar as a newbie account, and then you can detach your email as well so that you have no connection to it. Anything you have posted will remain in archive even if you are able to delete your account so there's really no point of deleting it completely (which I don't think is possible even). The advantage is, if in future you decide to come back, you can always come back without the need of creating another account
