I just came across a thread [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion where you are only allowed to post if you participated in the pool. If you do not participate and post there, people will report the posts so that mods will delete them
Quote
Local rules: Pool participants, sponsor/banner representative are only allowed to discuss in this topic.
If you are not in the pool then your comments will be reported to the mods to be deleted.

My questions are :-

1. Is it right to limit only certain participants to post in a public thread ?

2.  There are number of reasons where a post should be reported but if any non-member post a good constructive post, it is right to report his post ?

3. Will the mods will delete the post because it does not follow the local rule but followed all the forum rules ?

Note: I am not against this thread but i want to be clear on these points. I think it would be better if  a Self-moderated thread was created for
this purpose ?

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Please check rule number 26
26. Local thread rules, if stated properly when the thread was started, specific enough and don't conflict with the forum rules, have to be followed.

So, considering this rule, the topic starter reserve the right to restrict who will post in their thread :-D

Yes, it is allowed. You can limit who can post on your thread and who can't. Even, there's a good post, you can delete it if your thread is self moderated or report the post as it will break the local rules.
This is mostly applied in reputation board.
And for your info, an user can be banned posting on certain board too by the respective moderator.

That rules were published in 2014 but check theymos update on this rule no 26 in 2015, as such local threads should be replaced with self-moderated topics.

Those were mostly replaced by self-moderated topics, but local rules can be enforced at the moderator's discretion.

This has already been discussed many times, and although some users have previously spoken out in favor of restrictions, I am sure a feature of this kind will never be implemented since theymos is an ardent side of democracy on the forum.

As for self-mod topics, I think it's all about the etiquette of creating topics in the gambling section. In this regard, the OP adds a mention to the title to distance itself from those users who fulfill the quota for signature campaigns, (I'm sure that despite the local thread rules, no one will mind if you write a couple of related posts). The answer to your last question is "YES" as one of the global mods is quite active in the gambling section, and despite his credentials, he is also the creator of a non-self-mod thread with the same local rules.

Why would you like to post in a thread which is made for a certain competition and the people who paid in the pool discuss about their relevant positions in the pool and the matches ?
If you want to post on the matches itself, then there is already a thread  T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion where you can freely express your feelings about the tournament.  Smiley

When I created that thread long ago I missed making it self-moderated. So when I see anyone is breaking my local rules, I report the post with the reference of my local rules. In all cases, the response was removing the post. So I would say the mods understand the interpretation of that rule.

A good quality constructive post doesn't give anyone free entry to show it anywhere they like, that includes public boards as well, if the topic clearly states the exclusiveness of the thread. One can open a separate thread always to counter if the former thread is spreading any rumor or something, but I think every thread topics has the right to put their own rules. Else the whole forum would be in chaos because of loopholes in the forum rules.
