Nice win by Bjornsson but I commend what Larratt did in the fight as he was a real warrior, he was able to take the punches of a bigger and taller Bjornsson and I agree that the referee is doing a great job, this fight is short but is not boring, I liked it.

How about betting, has anyone here able to bet on this fight?

It was too easy for Bjornsson, Larratt had no good preparation and could you cleary see that. Bjornsson landed some punches and after 1 good punch, the fight was already over.
I am still curious to see the fight between Hall and Bjornsson as there is a lot rivalry between both.

Yeah, I agree, it was an easy win for Thor, but the takeaway from this was the fact that he got the much-needed experience in the ring that might tip the scale to his favor in the eventual Hall fight. Overall it was better for him to get anyone he can a get that little extra confidence than to sit on the sidelines and wait for Hall.

Props to Larratt for stepping up, what a great guy. Hope he got paid well.

Hopefully, he is paid well, I search for the purse of both boxers in this fight but I could not find one, instead I found this very interesting information.

Quote
Thor Bjornsson has bet $5,000 that he will be able to break opponent Devon Larratt's nose on Saturday night in Dubai.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/thor-bjornsson-devon-larratt-make-25000866

So Bjornsson won? Because it looks like he broke the nose of Devon Larratt in that fight, he hit him hard in the last round where the ref stopped the fight although he did not hit the canvass.

Yep, Thor won. Not sure about the broken nose though...One thing I just saw and did not know about is that Larratt trained at fellow Canadian's gym Tristar under coach Firas Zahabi, and MMA fans will know who that is.

Also, I always thought it was illegal to place bets on yourself? Is that just from country to country or you can bet on yourself wining and not losing so you don't take a dive? How does that work?

Devon Larratt doesn't look like he has a boxing skills, he was the shorter boxer but he doesn't have the quickness so he loses the fight. He was hurt so bad I think, but he is strong and was able to stand even he got hit hard, I like to see him fight again but hopefully not against a guy that has a huge advantage over him, probably the same height, popular but not so popular in his boxing skills, I think it would also sell.

.

It is indeed illegal to place bets on yourself, in any country. No bookies also offered betting options for this fight. Bjornsson and Larratt made a bet with each other that they would be able to break each other nose.
https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/other-sport/boxing/thor-bjornsson-devon-larratt-make-25001137

But even though Larratt was bleeding from his nose after the fight, his nose was not broken.

BIG WINNER!

There's no news about that, it was just an assumption as Larratt was hit hard in the face and he lose in standing KO.

Also, I always thought it was illegal to place bets on yourself? Is that just from country to country or you can bet on yourself wining and not losing so you don't take a dive? How does that work?

I am not sure about the regulation in their country, but if you bet on yourself to win, I think there's no problem with that, unless you bet on yourself and you intentionally lose the fight, that's what you called rigging the fight which is illegal and punishable by law.

It was a fun match although, I have only seen some highlights, I think they made a good show of strength but it seems that Hafthor did get the win in this one. Hopefully we see more of this, strongmen try their strength in a boxing match.

The match was so good that the other guys tried their best but hafthar jornson won and was at the top of the competition hafthor jornson has won the strongest men's competition in the world in the past. Recently lysis has been taking time off for a recovery injury and has changed gears to become a boxer although there are many rivals they are far ahead in terms of winning.

Haven't seen the match but hopefully you're right that we can see more fights like this albeit it's an exhibition match, it's still a show of strength and power, I mean who wouldn't want to see a brute like Hafthor Bjornsson or Eddie Hall or Brian Shaw punch someone to see the raw power that they have.

I watched the fight and saw Hafthor Bjornsson has a big height and weight advantage, it's like a match between a heavyweight and middleweight, Hafthor Bjornsson is very menacing although Larrat landed a clean shot, it's not enough to back Bjornsson no protest coming from Larrat side when the referee stops the fight, it's an exhibition and fight should be stopped when there is blood or one fighter is not in a good condition toocontinue.
The referee did a good job, both fighters display sportsmanship.

aha, ok, tnx for the explanation, makes sense that it differs from country to country.

Eh, yeah, I get what you are saying, but Larratt is not that off as he is 10cm shorter and roughly 30kg below Thor. The problem is that Thor is not able to lose that much weight anymore (keep in mind he was 200kg last year) and that it's hard to find an opponent that matches all the criteria, especially on such short notice. This is not relevant to fighting Hall, but it is an experience Thor can draw from.

You should see it when you have the time, it's not like it's a must watch but it's not good for you to miss out because it's not everyday we see this kind of matches, a battle between two hulking giants isn't something you see daily.

Ah, you know what, I get what you are saying, but I have to give it to Thor, he has been working on his fundamentals. Now, the problem is that he has not had enough experience for those fundamentals to really be solid in an actual fight. But you are not wrong.
Congratulations, you've made the right guess as he did won this match up, it seems that the fundamentals you're talking are showing off their results in the ring. Of course I'm not wrong, I was pointing out what's obvious.

Thor just did what he is supposed to do, imposed his will on the ring but using his advantage which is a little boxing skill, and his height and reach. It wasn't a devastating loss by Devon, but if the referee did not count it as KO, he would have suffered more damage as Devon was just a punching bag fighter a bigger and taller guy. THOR was really strong just like a character in marvel comics.
