Fights proceed even if they miss weight. Title fights like this one there isn't any leeway for them to be a 1/2 pound off but for non-title fights they are.
They are allowed to fight but have part of their purse demonetized as a fine for doing so.
He entered into the ring as still the championship holder but as soon as the fight started the title was vacant.
It is strange how the do this, but it is hot they do it.
Chandler's knock out performance was the highlight of the night for many who was in attendance.
That was career ending for Tony for sure and do not think we will see him fight again being his fourth straight loss in a row.
McGregor coming back to fight with that call out would be hilarious.

Okay I get it now that kind of makes sense in a way,,, I guess in boxing (not MMA) it is a bit more strict right since I always remember fights getting called off just because they could not make the weigh in. I think a penalty system is much more important since they will lose actual money if not making weight.

But one thing,,, the opponent is disadvantaged if the weight is not lesser than expected. Should the opponent also be rewarded for getting like a handicap?

I don't see how 1/2 a pound can make the different since they are not heavyweights.
The weight difference was very marginal but many have defended it because of crossing the line when it comes to what is deemed okay and what is not.
Why the UFC are still using scales from the past are beyond me and should be digital as with everything else in life when accuracy is the decision maker.

I might actually tune in this weekend actually. Only got the one football game to watch (FA Cup final) and if I lose that bet, then I'm going to probably not sleep well. And the following day I have a huge 4 hours to myself, would feel like a long break from domestic duties.

Of course, if I can manage to stay up to 4am that would be a minor miracle these days.

You were correct. We made it to the final and were eliminated on penalties for the second time!! Only the main card of the UFC would make my weekend right now if everything goes according to plan. I'm too tired to watch the entire fight!!

I was out by the first fight because who saw Maximov losing @1.26x odds and all in the first minute of the first round.
Forgot my first rule in betting on UFC:
Never bet on the first fight

Just see how the first couple of fights go and those should tell you how the rest of the night will go.

This methodology has worked for me with my bets in the past.

Didn't stay up since Liverpool won, sending me quietly and peacefully to bed AFTER staying up with my kid for about another 2 hours to see the Eurovision final (Ukraine won, shocker).

Lost my bets actually, rdbase, since I went for ML and goals and handicaps hahaha so my current out-of-pocket phase extends to Champions League final. Just small change here and there, and tapped out my final spare change today... but I spare a thought for you igehhh...

Yeah, never bet on the first match of the Vegas prelims. The lower odds seem to sucker most in thinking it a off one and done match for the icebreaker. But it never ends up like this.
Atleast this has happened whenever I bet on the first match. Take this as an example:

In UFC, the ones with the shortest odds always screw me over. I'm done with multi-selection; perhaps the next time I should go with some high old underdogs as a single bet. I had high hopes for Maximov, but he ruined my day before it even began.

I had a feeling fight will end early, but this was bad luck for Rakic in main event after his knee broke down, he said later this was repeated injury from training camp he had few weeks ago.
I think that Rakic was better until his injury and he would probably win the fight, but instead he is going to have longer recovery and maybe surgery.
Błachowicz was lucky this time and his next fight will be against new champion Glover Teixeira or Jiri Prochazka.

Both his legs were shot. Jan was busting up his left thigh that it didn't look normal after the takedown in the second.
The knee on the other leg just gave out when he stepped back.
Great win as it was given as a TKO.
Because Blachowicz kept working on those legs with calf and thigh kicks as you know he likes to do.
Glover called him out before the fight saying he will fight him and give him another title shot if he wins.
So I guess he is ready to go and take his title back from Teixeira only if he does win against Prochazka.

40 year old men are very clearly disadvantage to a 30 year old male fighter. You know because in sports men reach their peak in late 20s and stay at peak until mid 30s and then injuries are the worst enemy.

For a woman, I have no idea how physical abilities work,,, so I would not be too quick to discount this veteran.

So she was only fighting 7 years and made her debut when she was 33? That is an amazing type of story for any sports people

She did beat Ronda Rousey so don't doubt the old lady can come out with a win in this one.

Only for picks not for betting but yes I think even in control and with knockdown in the end brute force which is just not possible at certain ages is not enough,,, and that is for giving it, taking it is even worse at a later age. Well done if you made any good picks

It was a shocking result for a fight which meant alot to Holm as she is probably close to retiring and this might have her fight for one or two more.
Even after nearly a week later and it is still sinking in for some how could she lose in such a lousy decision from the judges like that.

Surprisingly there isn't any UFC this weekend as they next one is in the first week of June and the next one is UFC 275 which isn't until closer to the middle of the next month.
