It was confusing because It was shared and spread that way[look at the thread title] ..!  and I never used blockchain.com before..! so was a bit confused and thought it is being used by hackers for phishing purpose as mentioned by OP. |

Someone created a phishing site and then paid Google for ad service, which then put it up at the top of the search results. It did not say Blockchain.com either, it said Blockchain.info. I know about this too and also these days many users including myself are receiving fake emails claiming to be blockchain with the ditto pattern having the phishing link saying unauthorized access blocked click to change your password! !

No, Blockchain.info was not a phishing site, someone created a website and paid Google for an ad and the new site was a phishing site. It did say Blockchain.info in the link, but you can make that say anything you want. The site is now gone/taken down. |

Yeah, it's weird. In 2014 Blockchain[dot]info claimed Blockchain[dot]com to be a phishing site.
Now when you click on their homepage logo on Blockchain[dot]info, it takes you to Blockchain[dot]com
