Intel XEON builds still a thing?

Are intel Xeon servers still a thing? I'm planning to build one that can accepts multiple hdd at one time with expansive amount of RAM like 32gig RAM and also 100Terabyte of HDD or SDD in a whole build alone, any motherboard recommendations ??

Since multiple generations of the Ryzen Threadripper have come out which have much higher clock speeds and PCI-E lanes, there is no need for server based processors in a farming application. Xeon's are definitely cheaper though.

Do you want to mine chia? This is not the first of cryptocurrencies mining with HDD but i don`t remember any one of them that was profitable.
And in any way CPU mining don`t give serious profit with 1-2 CPU. But if you want to try - look at Huanan motherboards.

SSD hard drives are very expensive if you want to mine Chia coin.
You need to take a motherboard that can still be used for mining on video cards, because mining Chia coins consumes very few resources.
But so far nothing is known about the future price of this coin.

It's a pretty vague question. Were Xeon builds ever a thing?
What do intend to do with it? I assume there's a mining angle but unless you want to
CPU mine the CPU is mostly irrelevant. What makes you think you need a Xeon server?
Everything about them is more expensive. 32 GB of RAM isn't that "expansive",
a regular CPU/mobo can handle that. SATA ports?

Currently I have a socket 2011 dual Asrock Rack board with two Xeon 2620 V2's that run Proxmox that I run Windows 10 and Linux VM's for my wallets.

Mainly so I do not have all my wallets on one "pc" but spread across a few vm's so if something bad happens I wont lose all my downloaded blockchains for all my wallets.

I install two or three wallets and full block chains per VM.

I'll upgrade the 2620 v2 cpu's when the more powerfull v2's get a little cheaper.

I also have three open compute servers with e5-2650L cpu's that i used to mine Monero but turned them off last summer when the electricity bill was getting too high.

Since monero changed mining algorithm from cryptonight to randomX I don't see how these XEON cpus are profitable for Mining or am I wrong? What hashrate are you getting with your XEON cpu on randomX algorithm?

Xeon processors used to be the most powerful years back but now not anymore, do some comparison between XEON CPU and Core i9 and 10th gen i series, you will see that these new i series beats the XEON, they don't even have chance with Threadripper CPUs
