Please don't use freewallet. There have been many cases which have been documented here where they held user funds out of suspicion in exchange for their personal information. Even Elon Musk said that this wallet is shit because they blocked him.

What coins do you plan to store? There are plenty of non-custodial wallets to choose from and Atomic is one of them.

Additions just in case you don't know the difference between custodial wallets like "Freewallet" and non-custodial wallets like Atomic. Custodial means they do not share the private keys or seed phrase which also means they control all their user's funds. Non-custodial wallets allows users full control of their keys and their money.

Yes, Freewallet has many cases happened maybe the OP can see some documentation on the accusation board where there are lots of complains about the freewallet holding their coins so I hope this can be understood after @yogee is explained here.

Atomic wallet I think is a non-custodial secure wallet and can try it there because I see rare cases so this is a recommendation for OPs who want to see some of my opinion.

So indeed the worst experience is freewallet with many cases happening.

Freewallet
  • has history of blocking accounts
  • it is a custodial wallet
  • do not give private key
  • you do not have full control over your wallet

Atomic wallet
  • Close source
  • noncustodial
  • gives private key
  • full control
  • but generating only legacy addreses

If you want bitcoin wallet, go for electrum, you can go for atomic wallet if you want altcoins wallet, but not having nested segwit and native segwit derivation paths afaik, but many altcoins have low fee.

If to choose just from these 2 wallets, you definitely should pick Atomic wallet. Freewallet simply have too many disadvantages - it's fully custodial and their reputation isn't best. Even Elon Musk was very disapoointed about this wallet.
But if you're planning to hold Bitcoin only, Atomic wallet probably isn't best choice too. For altcoins it's good wallet I think. But for Bitcoin, they still don't support SegWit, what is huge disadvantages.
If you need wallet for Bitcoin only, Electrum is the best option IMO.

I would not use Freewallet or Atomic Wallet when there are much better wallets for every day use.
Freewallet is custodial wallet better known after Elon Musk complained when he used it first time, and users have no control over keys.
Atomic wallet is better than Freewallet but I don't like it's interface and I would use some other wallet like Electrum for Bitcoin and Exodus for all other coins.

Free wallet is a example of centralised wallet, the team keep your private keys for you, meaning they have access to your funds, and atomic wallet gives users their keys to their funds when opening a new wallet with them, the choice is yours to make from here on, my advice is stay away from any wallet like free wallet, the best wallet for me is hardware wallet or trust wallet

Just as others giving you advise about freewallet. Their thread[1] and account[2] will give you an idea that you should not use them.

[1] [ANN] Freewallet.Org: More Freedom From Freewallet

Check those posts there about them blocking accounts.

[2] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1177176

Check their profile account and the negative trusts that has been put to them.

FreeWallet is a centralized wallet that's like 50x worse than storing funds on Binance or Coinbase.

As always, hardware wallets like Ledger[1] or Trezor[2] to maximize security as much as possible, and probably BlueWallet[3] as a mobile hot wallet.

Atomic wallet is closed source. Their actual claim is they use open-source library.
Changed. That means it is hard to see any altcoin open source wallet, or is there any open source altcoin wallet?

I don't understand where all these people find that Freewallet - do they have some great SEO or do they pay huge amounts of money for advertising? Fortunately, some like the OP are intelligent enough to ask first before falling into the jaws of the impossible KYC process that this service has.

I am not aware of Freewallet, I am aware of Atomic Wallet as I have been using it from day one. Atomic wallet is a non-custodial multi-cryptocurrency wallet. You can use both the desktop version and the mobile version. I am using the mobile version at the moment and I have not faced any issue with it. They have great support and most of the time your issues get resolved over a chat on the telegram.

According to some Telegram groups that I know of, their experience with Atomic wallet is not that great. There are bugs and lots of issues that keep popping up, at least until last month. I don't know whether they've fix the bugs or not, but it is definitely not the best and all-in-one wallet. If OP is looking for something like that, a hardware wallet might be a better option.

Of those mentioned in your OP, Atomic, the reasons have already been given to you.

Atomic is the size of the shitcoin that you are going to use in "$$"(funds) it is excellent to handle amounts low and if you are going to make transactions In the shitcoin world, it works well, but be careful with the exchange or internal swap, the percentages are high, this wallet is very versatile it offers you that possibility ... if you are starting in the shitcoin world it works well, no ideal but meets the minimum requirements.

Possible additional options; if it's for bitcoin use minimal electrum, if it's for ETH and its "derivatives" Trust Wallet for everything else Atomic Wallet...

Both Freewallet and atomic wallet almost have the features, have some flaws at some point and also there disadvantages but the best aspect of atomic wallet is that the team believe in the crypto community logan " Not your keys, not your coins" i.e
1) Atomic wallet provided you private keys to the wallet you use while free wallets don't.
2) Free wallet requires an email address and your name (which is against anonymous rules) but you can create an account while an atomic wallet doesn't.
3) They both provide Bitcoin legacy wallet which is not advisable during this time.

Im Atomic wallet user for almost 2 years now If I'm not mistaken I know this wallet when they introduced airdrop before and since then I use it for storing some of my coins I never had a problem with sending and receiving devs are active so you don't need to worry using Atomic, Freewalet on the other hand has some bad reviews other called this wallet a scam so better stay away and use trusted alternative like Atomic or Exodus.

Atomic wallet is closed source. Their actual claim is they use open-source library.
Changed. That means it is hard to see any altcoin open source wallet, or is there any open source altcoin wallet?

Yes, there are very few open source multi-crypotcurrency wallet. Here are few example that i know (WARNING: i didn't perform thoughtful research, please DYOR),
1. https://brd.com/
2. https://edge.app/bitcoin-wallet/
2. https://guarda.co/

I use Atomic Wallet for almost 6 months and I do not have any problem so far.
I installed an Atomic wallet on my mobile phone, but I never say to anyone about that wallet.
I kept everything related to Atomic wallet in a secret place so that no one will know about that.

That is the basic thing you need to know when you want to install a mobile phone wallet.
I do not know about Guarda, but I also installed Trust wallet on my other phone and so far, it works good for me.

Guarda wallet is fully open source I heard, I'm not 100% sure about this, also trust wallet is open source they claimed but do some research on these two wallets and make a pick, I'm currently using trust wallet and it's been months already

Atomic wallet is close source wallet, also not supporting segwit. During Bitcoin transaction, do you know you will use lower fee for segwit transactions? I can not use a wallet that do not supports segwit.

but I also installed Trust wallet on my other phone and so far, it works good for me.
Why are people just like close source wallet, I can not recommend anyone to use close source wallet. I will prefer wallet that its source code is open source, so I will be able to know what codes my wallet is using.

Non-custodial wallets like Coinomi and Trust Wallet are your other options if you don't mind the risk of closed source. Make sure you download it from their official website since there are a lot of clone or fake wallets. May I ask why do you insist on a mobile multi-currency wallet? Ledger hardware wallet also supports many cryptocurrencies.

I think that is because people do not want to bother writing or remember something that seems too long for them.
For example, if they write the keyphrase or password in notepad or paper or anything else, they need to think where they need to keep it.
Some people are not comfortable remembering a place to store that thing.
So maybe the close source wallet will be good for them as they do not have to do other things and that is an easy way for them to store their coin.
We prefer to use an open-source wallet, but we can also suggest people use a wallet that is the close source.
If they can learn more about bitcoin, they will find out which wallet will be the best for them. Let them learn by the first time, and then add more information to know more about bitcoin.

Well, just try Coinomi if you have a plan to store altcoins too aside from bitcoin. But the thing that I don't like in Coinomi is the fee will perhaps that update very well to the network. Regarding your title, just avoid using Freewallet for your crypto assets, I saw a lot of thread here that full of a complaint by that custodial wallet asking you a KYC or moreover, freezing your fund without any valid reason, in that way perhaps they will scam their users. However, I had like to suggest you if you will store bitcoin just only just a wallet that for bitcoin purposes and don't use for a bitcoin wallet that supports multi coins. If you are going to ask me, -- Electrum still the best bitcoin wallet for now.

Thank you so much.
The Coinomi wallet support more coins or Trust Wallet?

I checked a review about each of them:

The Coinomi wallet:       https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-wallet/coinomi-review/
The Trust Wallet wallet: https://cryptoew.com/top-wallets/trust-wallet-review/

I know the Guarda wallet fee is high. How about the Coinomi and Trust Wallet? These wallets checking the users IP address?
When a wallet is close source, then could it mean it is a scam or their developers steal user's coins?

Compared to Coinomi i recommend you use Trustwallet.  for a wider range of uses such as storing bitcoins or connecting to defi projects, Trustwallet is preferable.  besides that, trustwallet also provides a bitcoin custom-fee feature. (you can do more research and hopefully you can find one that is truly comfortable with you)

Hello,
Some exchanges like the Binance and some wallets have blocked some countries. When a wallet is non-custodial, then can it block people assets?
Trust Wallet is for the Binance and is a non-custodial wallet and that exchange blocked the US and some countries. Is Trust Wallet dangerous to use? When that wallet is non-custodial, then can it block assets?

Trust wallet have their own servers and in theory they can block specific countries for transactions, but your coins should be fine if you keep your backup phrase safe.
I am not using this wallet so I can't confirm it if they actually block someone, however something like vpn services can help you to change your location, but I would suggest using different wallets.
Trust wallet is not my wallet of choice and I would suggest using Electrum, Wasabi, BlueWallet and other open source software and hardware wallets.

Non-custodial means you are in control of your finances. The recovery phrase you have or the individual private keys of funded addresses is what guarantees that control. If Trust wallet or another BIP39 wallet went out of business tomorrow, you would take your seed and regain access to your coins through another wallet.

Deciding between those two wallets, I'd vote for Freewallet. I find it more secure thanks to the fingerprint login and the email confirmation.
Also, they got a Multi-currency app where you can store up to 150 coins and tokens.

Of course, what else would you choose but a wallet to which you are business-related - but the reputation of your service is catastrophic by the standards of this forum - fortunately there are enough of us who know how to look at what is below the surface.

Deciding between those two wallets, I'd vote for Freewallet. I find it more secure thanks to the fingerprint login and the email confirmation.
It's still a centralized security no matter how you portray that as good. You cannot remove the fact that they lock user's funds.

Of course, what else would you choose but a wallet to which you are business-related - but the reputation of your service is catastrophic by the standards of this forum - fortunately there are enough of us who know how to look at what is below the surface.

Well, strategies are cool, but I've always preferred different giveaways. And thanks to Chrismas, we got many of them. Currently, I'm taking part in one from the Freewallet team.
I think he meant he is a participant in a giveaway that was hosted by his favorite wallet. Either way, he is a shill of that wallet just by looking at his post history.

It was also nice that this topic was moved to this board since it took him a while to find this thread hehe. hack3rcon was already educated of the danger of custodial wallets.

Also, they got a Multi-currency app where you can store up to 150 coins and tokens.
You said thanks to the fingerprint login? Did you actually know fingerprint has more negative side than using normal password. Like if you are with untrusted person like friends, they can use the privilege to get access to your wallet easily, like maybe when you are sleeping, all they need is your phone and finger to access your wallet. Using password will be better and safer.

Freewallet do freeze funds and block accounts.

Free wallet is custodial which is not a recommended way of saving cryptocurrencies.

In fact, freewallet is not a good wallet.

I didn’t focus on what he was trying to construct in that post (promotion giveaway), but on the fact that it’s about someone who is also more than obviously part of their team. Given their reputation, this kind of promotion is really proof that they want to gain as many users as possible in all possible ways - and if we save only one, we have already done something good.

Hello,
Some exchanges like the Binance and some wallets have blocked some countries. When a wallet is non-custodial, then can it block people assets?
Non-custodial means you are in control of your finances. The recovery phrase you have or the individual private keys of funded addresses is what guarantees that control. If Trust wallet or another BIP39 wallet went out of business tomorrow, you would take your seed and regain access to your coins through another wallet.
If I enter my Trust Wallet phrase keys to another non-custodial wallet like Atomic Wallet, then I can see my assets?

In theory, this should work - but the most common problem is that different wallets use different derivation paths, which then does not automatically generate the identical wallet (private keys) you want to recover.  Specifically as far as the Atomic wallet is concerned, I found this answer to a similar question :

Our import function is working as a regular transaction. So when you are importing your keys/phrase to Atomic Wallet, your assets will be transferred as a blockchain transaction with a network fee paid to miners.
That is correct, your XRP and EOS addresses have to be activated in the wallet. As Atomic produces your new unique addresses for every coin.
Our 12-word mnemonic seed is compatible with any wallet supporting 12-word mnemonic phrase. The way your assets will be transferred from Atomic is determined by the wallet you are importing your keys/phrase to

This means that they do not support the classic seed/private keys import, but only the sweep option.

If entering the phrase keys to another non-custodial wallet work, then why people send their coins between the wallets?

I'm not sure exactly in which direction your question is going, but I guess you think people should exchange seed or private keys instead of transactions or? This is of course possible, but do you want to give someone your seed, and he has to make a transaction again because you can’t both have access to the same seed for obvious reasons?

If you mean personal transactions (when you send to yourself), it definitely makes sense that instead of an on-chain transaction you just enter your seed in a new wallet - but then you have a situation where the seed is part of two different crypto wallets - and you can compromise the seed in process of entering in new wallet (malware - keylogger).

I meant to be personal transactions.
For example, Trust Wallet doesn't support some coins staking, but Guarda Wallet does. I enter my phrase keys into the Guarda Wallet and start staking. Is it OK?

It's either:

1. They're totally unaware of the option to export and import private keys between non-custodial wallets
2. They simply send out the funds to a new wallet for a new set of private keys. Basically for security purposes

I enter my phrase keys into the Guarda Wallet and start staking. Is it OK?
In theory, it should be ok. But I personally wouldn't be comfortable with importing my wallet's private keys in multiple wallets; unless it's a hot wallet.

That will work just fine, yes. But if you use the same recovery phrase across multiple wallets, all it will take is that one of those clients experiences a hack, serious vulnerability, or an exit scam (inside job) for you to lose all your digital assets protected by that seed. That's why it's not recommended. If you created a new wallet and a new seed on Guarda, you would only lose the coins sent to Guarda in case of any problems. Those stored in your Trust Wallet under a different seed wouldn't be affected.

As long as the wallet(s) that the key is being imported into don't have some crazy vulnerabilities that would cost you all the funds in that key you are importing. This particular risk is even higher when the wallet that is being used is not old or popular enough to be considered "safe".
