According to the git page, PoS and MN begins at block 1,048,576 where reward is 25 COSA+fees and split MN 60%, PoS 40% (PoW ends, I guess.)

We are only at block ~89,980. There is a LONG way to go before things change ;-)

It means that POS and POW aren't defined yet. Right now network don't have enough coins for enable PoS and we're looking for better distribute coins by using PoW to miners

Yeah, the masternodes will work after 1,048,576 block.

Steps (per usual coin updates...)

Delete all files except wallet.dat and the latest .exe file.

Most often your conf file is out of date therefore go to https://explorer.cosanta.net/network and find a node with the current .12 version. Add it to the .conf file.

Then restart from 0 !

It will take a while.

After all that, click on Tools>Wallet Repair and then 'Recover Transactions 1'.
It will reboot by itself.

If it breaks, throw computer in the river and join the outside world! The Sun is a lovely entity. Your blistering white skin will absorb its essance.

At block 100,000, in the Cosanta network was a hardfock with forced PoS activation. For last 198 blocks, only 12 PoS blocks were created (there are still very few coins or many have flown to the fork). PoS is a test feature and by deciding to stack, you agree to:
 - now for staking your wallet is completely unlocked and anyone who gets access to your PC will be able to send  your coins;
- inputs that got into the orphan may not return to the balance and it is necessary to "repair" the wallet periodically (start with the -zapwallettxes=1 parameter or through the menu);
- sometimes there are problems with synchronization when loading blocks, since we have not disabled feature with  headers;
- for staking you need inputs from 1 COSA and a mature time of 24 hours

p.s. All problems will be fixed through updates, good stacking and profitable mining!
p.s.s. Please note that the PoS reward goes to CoinBase, not CoinStake

It should be the old file, yes, but seems corrupt, integrated tool starts automatically so tried that, failes saying "Walled.dat corrupt, salvage failed"

command line -salvagewallet doesn't even give a message but it doesn't work

I undeleted all I could think of, including backup files, but none of them contains my 7 addresses. Seems like they are all new.

The Cosanta software was running when I deleted the folder by mistake, so probably a new wallet.dat file was generated.

I am really stuck so any help would be appreciated

The better to exchange Pirate to Doge in the @piratecash_bot by clicking to change active pair (left corner PIRATE/COSA 🔀 BTC , PIRATE/BTC 🔀 DOGE or PIRATE/COSA 🔀 BTC ).

Looks like you're using Pirate DEX and it's not popular direction on that exchange
