 Its possible to happen that there will be more emerging blockchain in the future.. but eth will remain number one when it comes alts and no other project can take over in it.  Even we say there's a new blockchain with the same features with ethereum, because eth itself keeps upgrading and still keeping the same how useful and very reliable it's right now, so for sure it will be as is in the future and a big reason why those new blockchain can't defeat ethereum.

Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is the next Ethereum although it's very hard for surpassing Ethereum for BSC but already BSC has become so much popular and now hot trend for new projects as well as old projects. Most of the projects are now born based on BSC which is a threat for Ethereum but it's for long time, not for short time. Polkadot is still on development stage, Now this place of BSC could be taken by Polkadot but still they aren't ready product like BSC.

Polkadot is one of the best platform in cryptocurrency and i have no doubt about that for DOT to become the next ETH. But, i prefer BSC will be the next ETH, if we see from overall perspective for fee, supporter, and the develop of BSC is very promissing.

Yes, now ETH is still the most in demand coin compared to other coins whose success is still very little, although actually Polkadot is also a good coin, but to match ETH I think there is still a lot of work to be done by Polkadot.

What does polkadot has in it's blockchain that can be said to compete with what Ethereum is offering, the only reason there's even a discussion between the Ethereum blockchain with others is because the fees on the Ethereum blockchain is ridiculously high, if that problem can be solved then ethereum will have no completion statement again.

i dont think there will be a next "ETH". Ethereum is going to be the leader for smart contracts just as bitcoin is the staple store of value. For me im looking at the projects with ETH functionality, that can do what eth does but cheaper like solana or Harmony (super slept on rn). i dont ever think ETH will be dethroned tbh.

In my own perception, perhaps Matic, Trx, Ada, Solana, Eos, and Busd. But this all just for me I don't know to other
members here in the forum. But the most closest next to ETH is BNB I guess the majority of the community here see this
