Electrum rejects wallet file

Hi all,
Many years ago I downloaded my wallet from blockchain.info and it is in the form of a file called wallet.aes.json which is maybe 700 bytes long.
Blockchain has since locked me out of my own account, so I need to use this wallet file if possible.
However I find that Electrum says it cannot parse the file.
What to do?

Electrum can't read the file you are talking about.
For importing the wallet into electrum, you need the private keys.
Note that if the file is encrypted, for exporting your private keys, you need the password too.

Blockchain has since locked me out of my own account, so I need to use this wallet file if possible.

No, they have locked me out of my account. I gather I am not alone in experiencing that.

When I try to log in, they say they are going to send me a 2FA message to authorize login but it never arrives.

Have you tried contacting their support for the reason you were locked out and the solution to it?

My guess is you'll need to have access to the passphrase uses to encrypto the file inorder to access it

Take a look at this reply in another thread, you have slightly different issues with the OP, but it could help

No, they have locked me out of my account.

It shouldn't matter. You should still be able to upload the .json file and decrypt it to access your private keys.

Alternatively, you can decrypt it offline on your own machine using their offline decryption tool available here: https://github.com/blockchain/my-wallet-backup-decryption-tool

This all assumes you remember the password to the wallet. If you don't, then you'll want to use a tool such as btcrecover to try to brute force your password.

Have you tried contacting their support for the reason you were locked out and the solution to it?

It worked last December and then in March I couldn't log in. Getting their customer service to even answer an email is very difficult.

What happens is:
1. I try to log in.
2. It says "Authorization required. Please check your mailbox. "
3. The email never arrives.
4. I click on "Need some help?"
5. I click on Reset 2FA and enter my info.
6. No email arrives.

You don't need to log in at all if you have the .json file.

Go to this link: https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/import-wallet
Drag and drop your .json file in to the box
Enter your first password when prompted
Enter your second password when prompted
You will then be asked to set a new password for the wallet
You will then be redirected to a new log in page for the new wallet - enter the password you just set
You can then use the wallet to transfer the funds or export the seed phrase or individual private keys in to Electrum. Either way, you should empty out the wallet as soon as you have restored it and send the coins to a new, secured wallet.

Is there another tool that isn't written in JS? This is spewing errors e.g.

The official blockchain.info decryption tool is written in Node so it's possible that you're actually having errors getting the Node app to start (maybe you're running it wrong?  )

Here's a decryption tool that someone forked from blockchain.info's: https://github.com/pinheadmz/DecryptWallet/ . It's quite old but it consists of a single HTML file so you shouldn't have any strange console errors while using it.
