Trezor hardware wallet is starting to sell screen protectors for their Trezor Model T wallet, and you can already find them in their shop. - PanzerGlass Screen protection costs 22.8 EUR, and it prevents damage of your screen while touchscreen is still working, and that is something similar like Gorilla screen is used for - Privacy Glass Protector costs 8.28 EUR and it is using polarized filter that prevents people from looking at your screen, and this is used for privacy. I think it is a good idea to add this screen protectors in hardware wallet by default, and not selling them in separate packages for people who purchased wallets before, but maybe they plan to use this in new generation hardware wallet. Paying over 20 euros for this PanzerGlass is expensive and I would not waste money on this, and I usually don't use hardware wallets near other people so I don't need Privacy Glass Protector neither. Check out Trezor blog with more information: https://blog.trezor.io/panzerglass-and-privacy-glass-screen-protectors-for-trezor-model-t-c5aaa9fb265f

Seems like an interesting upsell... I wouldn't have thought that these devices really need the sort of protection. I mean, I can justify putting one on my cell phone because it is used multiple times a day, gets shoved into pockets/bags over and over and dropped numerous times But my hardware wallet doesn't see anywhere near that level of usage... Also that price is kind of ridiculous... considering that similar screens for 6" cellphone screens sell for considerably less. I'm guessing it is an "economies of scale" situation

I guess polarized sunglasses could be worn to be able to see the screen of someone's Trezor from different angles even with a Privacy Glass Protector. If you have ever looked into the window of a moving car while it's sunny, you would have noticed you can't see inside or you can't recognize the faces. With a good pair of polarized sunglasses, you can. I can't say that the prices would tempt me to buy either of the products. The whole thing reminds me of the crap Ledger tried to pull with their over-priced hoodies and t-shirts. But, there is a market for everything. I wonder if they are still selling those!? And then there is this claim: Once your accounts and assets are secured by a Trezor Model T hardware wallet, it’s natural to want your device with you wherever you go. https://blog.trezor.io/panzerglass-and-privacy-glass-screen-protectors-for-trezor-model-t-c5aaa9fb265fI would say it's the opposite of natural to carry your hardware wallet with you whenever you leave your home. I think that they're overpriced and kinda unnecessary, especially for such a small screen. But it's an extra source of income and some may actually buy it. I think that if such thing would have been necessary, a more normal approach would have been a better screen (something like Gorilla Glass for the phones), for not much different price, especially because of the mass production. Actually I think that it's natural to have the "everyday" funds on one wallet and the HODL funds somewhere else, maybe another HW. But that simply makes the "privacy" screen protector even less useful.

Actually I think that it's natural to have the "everyday" funds on one wallet and the HODL funds somewhere else, maybe another HW. I completely agree with you when it comes to separating funds in cold storage to the coins you use every day. But those everyday coins should (in my opinion) be on a more easily-accessible medium. A mobile wallet that gives quick access to the coins by unlocking it via a PIN or password is easier than carrying a device that you have to connect to your laptop or phone with a cable before you can use it.

Also that price is kind of ridiculous... considering that similar screens for 6" cellphone screens sell for considerably less. I'm guessing it is an "economies of scale" situation Yeah price is ridiculous, but like I said before, I think that they ordered a bunch of this material for their new generation Trezor hardware wallet they are making now under the scenes, and it will probably include open source secure element and built in screen protectors. I am not going to waste money on buying this protectors now, but if it is standard for new hardware wallet than why not have a better protected screen. I would say it's the opposite of natural to carry your hardware wallet with you whenever you leave your home.
Maybe some people carry their hardware wallets outside and I even saw one concept of Trezor wallet Nano built just like that, maybe for holding smaller amount of coins like you would carry your regular wallet. This is just an idea made by @MichalGemyToman but even Trezor liked it and commented. https://twitter.com/MichalGemyToman/status/1408067327963193345

I don't see the point of Privacy Glass Protector, IMO you shouldn't use hardware wallet when there's people nearby. Your privacy isn't protected if people nearby know about the hardware wallet or see your smartphone/monitor which used to manage your hardware wallet. Also that price is kind of ridiculous... considering that similar screens for 6" cellphone screens sell for considerably less. I'm guessing it is an "economies of scale" situation Electronic device's accessory never cheap.

This may also be very dangerous for your personal safety. Someone may see your hardware wallet and think you have hundreds of thousands dollars inside (or even millions). You can be attacked and coerced to give your PIN. If you use your hardware wallet outside your house, it is very important to create a second hidden wallet with a passphrase in case you are attacked. Then you can just give the attacker the first wallet, which doesn't have the same value as your hidden wallet. Ledger has this feature, I don't know about Trezor: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005214529-Advanced-passphrase-security

I agree but by doing that, they'll miss out on the opportunity to separately sell those for more. Also that price is kind of ridiculous... considering that similar screens for 6" cellphone screens sell for considerably less.
You have a point and I'm guessing it might have to do with a single manufacturer creating these as opposed to a few that usually are responsible for the mobile markets [more competition = competitive prices]. The whole thing reminds me of the crap Ledger tried to pull with their over-priced hoodies and t-shirts. But, there is a market for everything. I wonder if they are still selling those!?
They're still selling those
Personally, I would prefer to go with the cheaper route [DIY] instead.

Lol, this reminds me of when I bought a new truck: The salesman asked me if I want to add Paint Protection... WTF? Why the hell are they selling a $60k truck without automatically adding in a $300 feature that protects the $600 upgraded paint job? Did they think I wasn't going to buy the truck if it was priced at $60,300? Obviously my anecdote is a different scale of expense, the PanzerGlass (love the name) adds almost 50% to the price of a Trezor One. Just an up-sell, and means more money for the retailer. And I agree with HCP that it's not as important on a hardware wallet as it would be on a phone.
That's just Ledger's implementation of a Bip39 passphrase (extension.) Trezor does that also, it's just implemented a slightly different way. https://wiki.trezor.io/Passphrase

You have a point and I'm guessing it might have to do with a single manufacturer creating these as opposed to a few that usually are responsible for the mobile markets [more competition = competitive prices]. Like I said... "Economies of Scale"... if you have a market of millions and millions of iPhones, you can generally sell at a lower price point, than a niche product like the Trezor T. At the end of the day... Trezor are a business... and businesses are generally there for the purpose of making money. They seem to think that this is a way they can do that. Personally, I wouldn't buy one (even if I had a Trezor T)... but I'm sure there will be people who will. Good luck to them both.

Sellers are always trying to sell extra stuff for any items we purchase, for example smartphones are selling extra protective screens. One note and funny thing is that you should not install both PanzerGlass Screen protection and Privacy Glass Protector because it will probably affect touchscreen functionality, according to Trezor team. Both packages comes with cleaning cloth and manual, and here is video how it looks like in real life: https://youtu.be/h6ziWRvkGWY

Seems like an interesting upsell...
That is exactly what this is -- an upsell. Trezor has a number of other 'upsell' products, mostly that are marketed to help trezor customers keep their seed backups safe. IMO most of these upsell products are designed to help protect against the edge of the edge cases, and these edge cases could otherwise be protected against by keeping backups in multiple offsite locations. I don't see the point of Privacy Glass Protector, IMO you shouldn't use hardware wallet when there's people nearby. Your privacy isn't protected if people nearby know about the hardware wallet or see your smartphone/monitor which used to manage your hardware wallet.
You cannot always avoid spending your coin when you are around other people. If you are limiting the instances in which you are willing to spend your coin to when you are alone in your bedroom, locked office or basement, you will miss out on many opportunities to spend your coin that other hodlers have.
The profit a dealer makes on a $60k truck is several thousand dollars, probably in the 10%-20% range, depending on how much you negotiated the price down. The profit on a $300 paint protection is probably somewhere in the range of $295, or around 98%-99%. Dealerships may also sometimes give customers $100 off the price for some point they made in order to keep you in the office but would be making another $300 ($295) on the paint protection they sell you after you agree on a price for the truck.
