TL;DR
No I am not rich. I just got started into Crypto mining. Activated an old coinbase account from 7 years ago (forgot I even had it). Found 2 old BTC addresses in there an looked them up. Big fat zero.

2 addresses and how old they are.
2681 days old & 2547 days old

I found some old emails when I created the coinbase account back in 2014 and some other emails about Gliph. I dont even remember doing this and now I wish I would have bought some BTC back in the day. Im sure you are all tired of hearing that....But I dont even remember what Gliph was. From what I can tell it was an old messaging service where you could send BTC back and forth. I found this - https://blog.gli.ph/2014/07/21/major-gliph-release-today/

Anyway I was just curious and interested in the history and getting to know the landscape that is Bitcoin. So did any of you use Gliph back in the day? Any old forgotten wallets found out there that you forgot you had?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Addresses at Coinbase belong to Coinbase. It doesn't matter how much they have in them. You have what Coinbase says you have.

Thanks for the info. I guess maybe I didn't word my post correctly. I get the details of everything.  I was just trying to bring up some history. I just like reading stories..etc. I thought maybe some people might share some crazy stories or bring up some old memories.  sorry for any confusion.

Probably not the best board to be trying to bring up topics like this, tbh. These boards are more aimed at supporting users with technical problems associated with their wallets or discussions of specific wallet apps/software etc... not so much just general chitchat or stories etc.

You'd probably be better off posting in "Bitcoin Discussion" or possibly "Off-Topic"...

Sorry about that. I think someone moved it to a different thread. I am a noob, so thanks for the heads up.

FYI this was in Bitcoin discussion...

Ahhhh OK, yeah that would make sense... I guess someone thought you were asking for help trying to recover coins from an old wallet, as opposed to just wanting to have a generalised discussion Wink

No drama... if the mods think it's best here, then here it shall stay.

As for your original topic, I have a few stories from the 2017 "gold rush" Tongue Nothing super exciting though... just helping folks recover wallets from bad backups of seeds (ie. missing words) or getting fork coins out of multisig wallets etc. most of which is documented in various threads about this forum Wink

All good! Thanks! I will have to dig through some old threads and look for some stories  Smiley
