Posting techniques for newbies on the forum

I am creating this thread to help the newbies and some other members who have joined this forum and want to be an effective component of this reputed discussion forum. First of all welcome you all and hope you learn some good posting technique with this thread although i am not also an expert but will try to tell you that I know. Some beginners tips for how to write posts in proper manner and create threads to share knowledge.

If you want to copy some statements or want to highlight some points then you can write them in Quote and for that you need to write it in this format

HOW TO QUOTE REPLY:

So if you want to reply to any of the post then you simply need to click on the quote button on the right side along with merit. Here have a look at it:

But what if you want to reply to more than one person at the same time in your single post. Don't worry you can do it easily as there are some ways for it like you can simply click on quote button and open it in new tab and copy paste of all of them in one single post. The other way is simply to add "Insert Quote" below your writing area of the post and you can insert as many quotes you want to reply. Here have a look at this also:

FORUM SEARCH:

As we all know there is option on top for search on the forum and it's one of the most useful tool that we must take into help for making some posts to find out the prevailing information on the forum or to find if something similar has been posted by other members.It is very useful if you want to search for some posts and you only know some keywords about it and you will find out in detail how it works.

1) Search by user

2) You can also search within time limits as per your wish

3) You can also switch between search order like first one,relevant one,last one and other available in the list

4) You can also search across different boards of the forum as per your search

If you want to post any image you must be at least junior member for which you will require 1 merit and 30 activity. So you need to achieve it but there is shortcut for it if you want to add images in your post which is buy copper membership. Buy cooper membership here . But if you have achieved the junior member rank then you could follow this procedure:

Step 1: Go to image uploading site like imgbb to upload the image there

Step 2: Select the image you want to post and upload it

Step 3: Your image will be uploaded

Step 4: From the links below click on the BBC code full linked

Step 5: Copy the link and paste it on your post

If you want to make changes like readjusting the size of your image link then you can possibly do is to adjust width and height in the link as follows:

USE OF TOOLS ABOVE WRITING AREA:

So let me explain all the marked tools which you can use while making threads and posts in an easy way.

1. BOLD : If you want to write anything in bold characters simply click on that button or you can type in yourself in this manner

5. BITCOIN SIGN : Most of the times you need to put the logo or sign of bitcoin in the post and for that you simply click on this button

9. BREAK THE LINE : If you want to break the line and have a gap between two paragraphs then you could simply click on this button

10. SIZE OF TEXT : So if you want to change the default size of your text then you could simply click on this and make changes to your text

Sometimes the newbie asking for help with a technical issue with less information on the technical and wallet, which makes the information provided biased and incomprehensible. you have to add also the format of how to post with accurate information like this

I'm not sure if anyone has already done something similar (I think it probably is), but apart from the fact that every member of the forum should turn on the brain when writing their posts, it would certainly be desirable to use all available forum features to make it easier and more enjoyable for everyone to follow the forum.

What I would especially like to emphasize is the inappropriate use of the quote option - because it makes no sense to quote more posts, and the answer refers only to a part of one post. Every quoted post can be edited, and that’s just a few seconds of work. I also have to admit that I find it really weird to see some older members who haven’t yet learned to resize images, which just shows that they don’t care for those who access the forum from slow internet connections or have limited data traffic.

First, kudos for the effort. This post should be seen by senior forum members too, as many don't really care much about the way the post, especially when it comes to quoting.

I would just like to add that it's not needed to adjust both width and height when resizing images. One is enough and the other value will adjust automatically to preserve iamge ratio. From time to time I see people changing both  width and height and that way distorting the image if ratio is not correct.

I never got why you would have to achieve a certain rank before posting pictures, makes not much sense to me. There are some useful info here that I didn't know, so thanx for that I mean, is there any way to make it mandatory to read posts like this before starting on the forum? It looks like a requirement that was originated in september 2015 due to abuse of some sort at the time:

Due to abuse, newbie-posted embedded images are now disabled on these pages:
- Topic display
- Recent posts / patrol
- Previews
They're not currently hidden in PMs or on some other pages (like a user's "show posts" page), though I might change that later if it seems necessary.

Disabled images get transformed into links automatically. When the poster becomes a Jr member, the images that he tried to post previously will automatically be re-enabled (though there might be a few minutes of delay).

This extends to all past posts as well as future ones.

Although back then, reaching Jr. Member rank was trivial (only based on Activity), since September 2018 it also required having earned at least 1 Merit (see Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements).

I have some clarification on this one. When you want to post images, the link you use must end in an image format like .jpg, .png or . gif for the image to show. If you want to post gif there is a file size required, I think non-gif is also 2.5mb. According to this post I quoted from this  thread, the required max file size is 2.5mb.You can post whatever gif you can post as long as the file is 2.5mb or else the result will be "bitcointalk proxy. Invalid image" . For more information, open the thread. It's copper membership and not cooper membership.

OK, I increased it to 2.5.

Surprisingly you are the only newbie replied in this thread which also happened after the bump so hopefully you understand how the posting works in bitcointalk but I want you to remember something, image posted by a newbie will not show up even if it is in the correct format and the reason also exist in the above posts so you need to achieve atleast jr.Member Rank to Post images or buy the copper membership to enjoy the member rank perks even if you are a newbie.

It's good to see that information shared by me is helpful to you and you can learn from it and it hope you use them in your posting and make it slightly better and more attractive and you must make use tools in your posting style.

I remember you have a topic or post (?) in German about websites to upload images. I forgot to bookmark that one so would you mind sharing it again, please.

It is helpful for the topic as well and sometimes people would like to have multiple choices or need alternative when their favorite does not work. Obviously, imgur seems to be the best to use on the forum.

Nice thread OP, this kind of post what I like the most very informational and well explained. I gave you my only merits because of such very helpful thread I read for this day! Thanks for the effort exerted to make this thread for us the newcomers.

Thanks for the merit and hope this information will help you to post in an effective manner and we could see other members also making use of this and it's good to see that newbies like you don't ignore these types of post but take a detailed look at them and reply here unlike other who just ignore it and will repeat the same mistake.

Yes I will surely add the link for your thread to the above tables coloum so that members learn as much as they can from different sources and make combined use of all and you have given nice explanation for same.It is informative thread and every informative post is welcomed.

Regarding that image posting part, you can omit the 'url' tags, it will work fine.

Yes it will work fine although but you can simply copy the BBcode and paste it and by clicking the image you can go to the image uploading site and have a look at there.But yes you can add image without url tags directly also.But it's easy for newbies to simply paste the link.

This thread was made with same intention that newbies and other members can improve their posting style and have prior knowledge on how to make effective use of tools while posting and make it look attractive.I am going to add more information on how to quote the replies soon which I missed earlier in above post.Will keep it updated.
