Some researchers do say that Bitcoin mining has a big impact on the environment because of the huge use of electrical energy that will increase emissions. Cryptocurrency mining could push global temperatures above the 2 degree Celsius threshold by 2033. This will lead to climate change and several other natural disasters.

any further development of cryptocurrencies should critically aim to reduce electricity demand, if the potentially devastating consequences of 2°C global warmings are avoided. It will be better if Bitcoin development is done ecologically in the future to keep our climate safe as well.

I guess what OP is trying to say is that it contributes to global warming,,, which of course at some point it does, but then the problem here is people are attacking Bitcoin as a single entity, saying it is like the size of a small country when it comes to electrical consumption.

But people want to ignore that it is providing security for a trustless and decentralized form of money, that is the bigger issue they need to be convinced of.

Even when we talk about Bitcoins electricity consumption, Even in China, I believed that Bitcoin miners most have been using some other form of clean energy too other than just coal-generated energy. Why would Hydropower plants go on sale in China amid mining crackdown and bitcoin slump This just prove that, all those talk about bitcoin consuming too much energy generated from coal is just nonsense, no one ever talked about this part until now that the Hydro plants are closing off too after the crackdown.
Everything is part of Global warming and not just bitcoin.

Indeed,,, global warming is an issue and it is getting more and more serious as we move on with our lives. Yesterday, the antarctic recorded an all time high record of 18+ degrees Celcius. Can you imagine the coldest place on earth feeling like morning time in the tropics?

I think this argument is not about Bitcoin being bad or good at all,,, and yes, we should do something about coal powered mines but we all know that power is being needlessly used in a whole lot more things than mining crypto. And again, if we prove Bitcoin is a necessity for finance, we will get somewhere.

What a powerful text wall, it seems to be a headache. My point is very clear. It will not cause the side ball to warm, and it feels more like an excuse to shut down the mine due to power consumption. Just like the recent closure of many mines in China, the reason is that it affects carbon neutrality. I feel a bit reluctant. If only considering power consumption, a lot of electricity is wasted on long-distance power transmission, as high as 40%. If used on-site, it can also avoid waste such as hydropower and wind power, and with graphite With the continuous development of olefin technology, many problems will be overcome. Why should all the problems be attributed to Bitcoin?

Honestly the point is moot. The problem is the source of energy not the usage of the energy. Stop using fossil fuels and it wouldn't matter one bit. If anyone tries to push that fud just ask where their house gets electricity from, and show them cryptos that use POS and that should shut them up

Exactly, they try to blame the consumer so the eyes will be on the wrong direction and they know this because the moment that people starts to take notice, they will be suffering big losses because they can get obsolete really fast because there are billions of alternative energy source out there that uses less carbon or even carbon free, non invasive and much cheaper and the fossil fuel companies don't want that because they will suffer a lot from obsoletion.

The main cause of global warming is the biggest not because the currency due to the mining, the main reason is that population increase and the burning of fossil fuels, and dig just consumes a tiny fraction of our energy, and most are in the mine electricity extremely cheap areas, these areas power resources are very abundant, if it were not for the mine to use electricity, These resources are probably going to be wasted, and most of them use hydroelectric power, so to ban bitcoin mining because of global warming I think is extremely unreasonable.

I agree with you that Global warming has been an issue since way back but we must understand that Bitcoin and even the Energy consumption is just a FUD to always bring the price down or to Hurt Bitcoin by people that don't want to see Bitcoin prosper because there have been reports showing that other sectors of the economy like Banking, even Christmas Lights consume more energy than Bitcoin mining so Bitcoin is not the problem of global warming.
Another reason why they want to divert the attention is so that they won't lose their profits because if they were to be blamed, it's only a matter of time before the people notices that they are the source of pollution and they will eventually be forced to go for the alternative that will cut down their profits really big.

However, after China's withdrawal from mining, other campaigns continue to increase mining capacity, for example, Gryphon Digital Mining announced the purchase of 7,200 S19J Pro Miners https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/gryphon-digital-mining-announces-major-purchase-of-7-200-s19j-pro-antminers-301327511.html, and a Ukrainian businessman also announces the opening of a data center in Kazakhstan for 20,000 mining devices worth $200 million. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/white-rock-management_ukrainian-investor-and-entrepreneur-cepгeй-activity-6818880683910471680-6tll/

I don't think so, global warming has been a problem for a really long time, it's just that bitcoin was able to have a really cool feat of large consumption of electricity and FUD spreaders just find that it fits their agenda that bitcoin could be a good scapegoat.

Whatever they find that will fit their theories regarding some negative effects of bitcoins, they won't hesitate to publish it with some manipulating introductions. these guys are pro and they managed to gather some supporters to agree to their strange views. How in the world does bitcoin mining will cause global warming when the miners are not even enough to cause electricity outage in China when they have freely mined bitcoins there. The only people who truly believe in these guys are those also deluded that they wanted to push their claim up to another level even though it doesn't make any sense at all.

It is the heavy industry and high-pollution industries that really make the world warmer. Bitcoin is only a small part. This is just an excuse used by some countries to ban Bitcoin.

According to Hassylai’s calculations and measurements, Bitcoin does not consume a lot of energy. Bitcoin’s carbon footprint is completely equivalent to the electricity consumption that miners are trying to solve. In fact, part of the reason is that some countries do not allow black mines to steal electricity. With the passage of time, the electricity consumed by mining is also increasing. Therefore, it is necessary to cooperate with the government, which will also bring the government a corresponding economy. Therefore, from an economic point of view, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
The bitcoins produced by mining only need to be transported to all parts of the world through the network, which is actually environmentally friendly. So from the perspective of energy, the use of electricity by mining is not wasteful.

It is overwhelming to find a good article that talks about bitcoin and the environmental impact. The FUD and Elon Musk media outlets were notable, but luckily we have other good sources to understand what is really going on.

Quote
Crypto mining has simple math - lowering the cost of electricity is the biggest leverage to their profit margin. Therefore, the incentive is heavy for them to transition to clean energy where the cost is cheaper. What’s more, the demand for clean energy by the miners will incentivize utility companies to expand their renewable energy capacity long before battery technology is ready to make it viable to run the world 100% on clean energy.

Bitcoin mining was connected with global warming to create hype. All the tweets that were made in this regard were to make people mine more. Bitcoin majorly uses green energy in the mining process and so it does not add to global warming any more than other industries.

While you are correct with the fact that Bitcoin mining uses quite a big % of renewable energy (which in most cases also makes the mining more profitable), I think that you've got it wrong with the idea of hype. I feel that it's the opposite and those tweets were made to grow the hatred against Bitcoin and its mining.

As things stand, less than 0.05% of the global fossil fuel usage is accounted by Bitcoin mining. An astounding 50% is used for transportation, while other sectors such as industries, chemicals.etc account for significant percentages. Now I don't understand the obsession with the power usage by Bitcoin sector. It is not even 1/1000th of the total usage. And Bitcoin mining is not an industry that is solely dependent on fossil fuels. The miners don't really care if the electricity comes from a renewable source. But in countries such as China, that option may not be available.

whether bitcoin mining will cause global warming, my answer is definitely no, because clearly bitcoin mining does not consume a lot of energy, because there are many other companies that make global warming, and make the environment worse, global warming has occurred long before bitcoin existed,, if some say bitcoin is the cause of global warming, I'm sure there must be people who hate bitcoin, and scapegoat bitcoin in this problem, because they want to throw the blame on bitcoin..

Now that global warming has occurred, governments of all countries are managing the environment to reduce carbon emissions. Many countries ban Bitcoin mining, because Bitcoin mining consumes too much energy, so there are many negative news, but now there are many green energy mining, which is very environmentally friendly. I think everyone should pay attention to environmental issues. After all, this is where we live. We should not waste energy,

I totally agree with your opinion, we shouldn't waste energy, we also have to always keep our environment clean, because if our environment isn't clean, it's certain that disaster will come easily at any time, but I think bitcoin mining doesn't exist now. again wasting energy in vain, and global warming did not occur, because bitcoin mining has done a green trend..
