Jameson Lopp noticed something about Bitcointalk on his 2021 review
I like all the work Jameson Lopp is doing for Bitcoin, but I didn't notice he tweeted about bitcointalk.
It's real question how many of this new registered users are real genuine users, and how many are bots, spammers and trolls.
That number should probably be reduced with number of banned users to get a better picture of stats, including number of active and inactive users.

It might be time to advertise him to give the forum another try after the introduction of the merit system?
Here is one idea for contemplation, why not make one interesting interview with Jameson Lopp, and who better to do the job than our very own BitcoinTalkShow, who just released second episode few days ago.

I have no idea who this is, but his logic has a flaw: the total number of registered users doesn't mean anything.

He described user growth as "continuing to be modest". I am not sure I would agree with that statement.

He’s probably comparing the growth ratio with the one registered on other social media as Reddit, for example, where user growth has been 100% on r/bitcoin.
That might be true, but I don't think the two numbers are necessarily apples-to-apples. Subscribing to r/bitcoin causes the r/bitcoin sub to be added to the user's feed on their reddit account. To my knowledge, you do not need to subscribe to r/bitcoin in order to post/comment there (you do need a reddit account). If someone is creating a bitcointalk account, it is generally because they want to write a post for some reason. It is possible to read bitcointalk without creating an account (there are many people who read bitcointalk without creating an account -- this is something I did before I created my account).

In any event, theymos is in charge of both r/bitcoin and bitcointalk.

If it's not on Bitcointalk, I probably won't read it. Bitcoin isn't about "famous people".
It's kinda funny that he complains on Twitter about "signal to noise" on Bitcointalk. That means he prefers an algorithm that decides what he gets to read, instead of making that choice for himself.

I haven't looked at the stats to see how much we have increased or reduced in terms of newbies joining the forum. Bitcointalk social media pages online aren't really active that could be a reason for a decline. Some of the old members who were here from day one aren't posting much anymore. With the Bitcointalk Show on YouTube I'm sure we will be blowing waves soon. I just watched the second episode. I'm eager to see what's next

Let's see what has changed from July 2021 to now. You can compare this data from bpip.org to find out some.

There has been an increase in the number of users who registered their accounts on the forum from July 18, 2021 to today where there have been around 75,244 new profiles registered since then. Meanwhile, the active user base in the last 3 months has decreased from 122,470 in July 2021 to 93,906 users. Decreasing the base like this depends on the user's own interest in using the forum, they can be active at any time which affects the number without or doing activities. I think the addition of new users can be expected to continue to happen with or without bitcointalk social media like youtube.
