It's not true for defi projects only, its true for almost all projects. Almost 99% of the projects that you are seeing are shit projects. They are just clone of another with no new use case. All they do is create a hype, attract idiots and then scam them. Sadly people still fall for those shit project despite hearing warnings from others. Some do it on purpose hoping they might get lucky and make a fortune.

I can understand your pain and frustration from your words.
But on to be a better side, it’s better to not invest in any Defi.
According to me Defi without good backend people always turns out to be scam.

mock concepts and whitepapers, APY's unreasonable ROI promises, and tight marketing. I've been deterred from investing in defi, it's better to only invest in defi that already has a good reputation like pancakeswap and others.

I am agreed with what OP said, investing at kind coins like that is almost like gambling, i was trying several times, and no one profitable like most of them said, their price is up and down unpredicted, and sometimes rug and pull gone without trace.
It was my valuable lesson and make me more carefully to choose where i should put investment. Maybe the "safe or moon" tokens not fit for my style, even though people out there still like this kind of coins to their investment or daily trading activity.

You're right, most projects containing safe and moon names end up rugpull/scam. I once bought tokens like that and just seconds after that the devs took out the liquidity.

Well we are not that sure of course doing a proper research to the project itself is much better to have understanding if the project is worth it or not, a lot of people buy a Dogecoin right? but what the hell is a doge in the first place it's a meme but many people still buys it.
