I usually check their whitepaper first, knowing what they are are is so important.

Check who is inside the team, check from web, and track them into linkedin or other their CVs.

Check their mass community such as in their telegram or twitter page.

Check what expert said, ill check it in the verified twitter page and following their hashtag.

Check in the marketcap to know their market activity, and last, ill draw their chart and do analyse before entry.

Try to check the bounties section because most of there are new projects you can find there that might explode the coin in the future, avoid meme coins.

speaking from experience this is right, many projects that did bounty in the past turns out to be really successful and we should only consider meme coin as just temporary hype where it all could gone anytime. just try to see some of the projects that have become successful and try to analyze their past, then we gonna see how the project could build their success from its foundation to its peak.

If you look altcoins that blown up, try to get signal that show new altcoins which also have bigger risk. I think some new altcoins easily to get hyped up as long you know when to get out from there. If me, for people who maybe want to try made investment, i personally will suggest to get old coins like BTC, ETH or BNB although maybe need time to blow up again.

What if you check yourself on coinmarketcap.com or on coingecko.com or on another site. Because I don't know what Altcoin you want.
If I recommend ETH surely you are not interested.
Right now, ETH and BNB are great to buy.

Basically, you stumble into coin and when it happenned, you will need to be taking by the coin based on Idea it present or represent or the feature it has or the potential imbedded in such coin! If something has already went up 10-100% in the past week or so you might have already missed the boat. I usually stay clear. I like to find tokens with utility if I am looking for a new investment. Yes i really agree with you, so many people this day really influenced by some one or influencer, but at this point i'm not judging any influencer tbh haha. But it's from my own opinion. And yes i already took a look on BYG token as well. They have their history chart really great in the past almost 7x-10x form this past 14 days. That's really great to know.
