You are 100% correct, buying coins for cheap like bitcoin and ethereum is fine as sooner or later we will see them recover, so as long as you can hold those coins for long enough you will be in profits, but people are applying this logic to all coins and this is a disaster waiting to happen, most coins just pump and dump and never recover and many of the coins that are in the market today and that people are thinking are at a good enough price to buy are in fact a waste of time and money, but most people do not really understand this lesson until it is too late and they already invested in those useless coins.

As long as you can choose the coin that has the potential to increase, you will not have to worry. The coin such as ethereum, bnb, or other coins in the top 50 coin list can increase anytime and we already see what is happening with the crypto market today. When the bitcoin price increase, the altcoin will increase and we know that it happens to many altcoins on the market.
