Japan’s Sena Irie denied Petecio of gold as she beat the Filipino for the third time in four meetings since 2019–albeit a controversial victory.

After failing to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics, a silver medal is still a worthy victory to celebrate, and I believe she has made significant progress on her boxing career.

And pehaps, fighting IRIE Sena, who is six centimetres taller than Petecio, may add to Petecio's fighting disadvantage. Nonetheless, becoming the first Filipina boxer to win an Olympic medal is an incredible achievement.

Yeah, watching the game makes me feel goosebumps as a fellow Filipino. The fight was very close and they both show an impressive skills and endurance, It just happened that Irie Sena has a home advantage which gives her an extra boost to won the fight. A silver medal as addition to our first gold is not bad considering how few players that Philippines sent on this Olympics. GGWP!

Indeed, although Petecio is at a disadvantage, she really gave it all, but the Japanese girl is also tough, but I thought hat Petecio might pull it off as she is the favourite in this match.

Nevertheless a silver medal for her, that's already a big accomplished for the Philippine for having a gold and silver, both ladies. I'm sure it will inspire young Filipinos to be on a boxing gym and win a medal because it has a big incentives financially when they won a medal.

Congratulations to Irie Sena for winning the gold medal in this last match in their category. While for Nesthy, she's won the silver medal congrats to her too, she's won the 2nd medal for our country, Philippines. Both boxers have shown their sportsmanship and this is the beauty for every sport, seeing both opponents have their warm hugs and greets to each other that they did well and it's just a sport and after all, they can be friends after their match. As for the Nesthy, the same as Hidilyn, there are a lot of pledges already that await her comeback in our country. A lot of incentives, cash, and gifts have already been pledged.

And that is the beauty of this sports, yes we are hoping for another gold, nonetheless a silver is good for the Philippines, maybe next time Petecio will eventually win one for us. She fought very brave, so for both Petecio and Sena, congratulations as well. Yes, there are a lot of incentives already gifted to Petecio when she comes home with that silver medal in her neck.

That's still worth it for our country and it's best achievement to have another medal from the Olympics. This is a world stage and conquering the silver medal has huge impact and gives high morale to the future athletes in the Philippines. Though, many are still doubting the result of the match as it's really a close game, moreover, our athlete shows sportsmanship.

Nesthy Petecio lost despite being the favorites to won the fight, I hope you guys did not put your bet on her so you'll not experience the loss. Anyway, it's still a good achievement for her, she is the first woman boxer who won a Silver or a medal in the olympcis. Congratulations to him, maybe better luck next time.

Yeah, a silver medal is already a big achievement for Petecio and the whole nation is so proud of her for that. Irie Sena is just hard to beat, more determined to win the gold in front of her people and we must admit that. Also, that was my basis before putting my bet on Sena. It's not that I'm not patriotic, I'm just being practical as my gut tells me that the Japanese had the upper hand on this match. I would be very happy if Petecio has won the match as that's also what I'm praying.

Time to lock the thread now and as usual thanks to all who have shared their brilliant speculations about the fight, until next.
