Online (Browser Based) Mining?

I run a small office and we have three high-end iMac's, custom configured and ordered from apple with overclocked processors.

They sit here all night long, off and collecting dust.

Is there an online mining app or a downloadable app that will allow me to chain these three Macs together and have a minuscule mining platform?

Electricity for me is absolutely free, with 45 Sunpower panels on my roof.

If you are planning to mine bitcoin with your Mac then no, you can't able to mine with that hardware.

If you want to mine BTC I would suggest you buy an ASIC machine that supports SHA256 algo. Sample Antminer s19.

About browser base mining they are a scam mostly I wouldn't suggest you mine using those plugins.

As mentioned above, a lot of miner plugins are scams (or others are just quite inefficient).

You could try looking at sites like nicehash if you want to earn bitcoin while running them - they work as a marketplace for selling computer power (just make sure to check recent reviews of places as even well known ones can scam - so it's a good idea to keep track of them a bit).

Additionally, if you just wanted to do something useful there's folding@home and a few other interesting projects you might be able to find/take a look at (but they might be best for, if you just don't want to wait for your computer to power up in the morning for example).

A code running in your browser can not be as efficient as it is needed for mining a cryptocurrency ever. Besides, your browser should not even allow such scripts to run in first place and if it does you need to look for a plugin that prevents these things.
You need to find a miner (usually a desktop console app written in C/C++/Assembly) that is specialized to mine a certain altcoin using your GPU or CPU depending on the type of coin you want to mine. There are sites like https://whattomine.com/ that could help with that choice.

There is a browser that helps you in mining Bitcoin it is known as Cryptotab browser. I have never used it personally, but a few friends of mine are using it and they have confirmed that they have received payments in BTC. I am not sure how it works but if you need more information then check this article.

As said, you cannot mine bitcoin with those. It means that they'll run, but you'll receive nothing because of the high difficulty.
But you can mine altcoins.

I suggest you ask for more details in altcoin mining sub, but you may be able to mine Monero or similar coins and exchange if you want into bitcoin.
You will probably need a proper stand alone application, not in-browser one which may be blocked and may have lower performance too. Just make sure you ask on the forum before downloading, so you don't download something useless or harmful (although it may not be the case for iMac).

Also keep in mind that mining is hardware intensive too and you should make sure that your iMacs' fans will handle the load. We don't want to burn down the place for a few pennies, don't we?

However, please ask in altcoin mining for more details, including what miner and what pool to use.

Not concerning bitcoin, but a bunch of crypto games actually had online browser mining of their tokens while playing games. That's the closest I have come to anything like that and it wasn't all that to be honest. But it's worth a try if you are into gaming and find a game that's early in the life cycle and is not completely overflown.

Shady. You can't mine anything with your computer nowadays. You're probably paying for it in another form, namely either your personalized data or the browser replacing the ads that you see to their own.

If you really want to mine, use the specific software for it and it will be far more efficient. Installing a shady browser can be quite dangerous for the user.

There are online miners that work in your browser (at least there were some, I came across several when I was doing micro earnings.) but these only utilize your CPU, and if you want to maximize your earnings you want to be using your GPU too.

In addition many of these online miners and miners don't actually mine bitcoin - they mine another cryptocurrency like Monero or Ethereum, and pay you in Bitcoin. This is because the mining difficulty is too high for CPUs or GPUs, as there are ASIC miners that can outperform them easily.

plug usb miner on all usb and start download software from minergate i or u can download regular software miner out there and rent your mac to nicehash or miningrigrental and you free to go

and yes try to using external fan

The way in which coins are mined depends on the nature of the algorithm used and the difficulty of mining, these two conditions make it impossible to update Bitcoin with traditional computers.
You can mine altcoins with these machines, but the upward trajectory of those coins will determine their future.
Many altcoins decline in the long term, so mining them is a waste of time.
