Probably it's your timing that's a bit off, I mean it happens to a lot of people. This happened to me one time and I don't want that that thing to ever happen again because I missed out on profits. Maybe try to be a little bit more greedy when you are hodling and the prices are pumping hard to potentially maximize the profit.

Yes. And no.

Let's say you sell at price X. After that price is met, it will go (on average) up or down.
Now, if the price was lower and you've picked a bit higher value for X (which is pretty much normal), in order to reach X a tiny "up trend" starts and may (most probably) not end right after hitting your value and will continue for a while. Hence your feeling. And you're right. It's almost impossible to sell at a top.

But if you look at a bigger picture, you'll see - maybe in a day or more - that most probably the price went also down (lower than X) after your sale (hence my "and no" part).


All in all you could have been selling (or buying, since it goes similar) better or worse. ...That doesn't really mean much

I too have experienced the same. But I was bit happy for selling my coins at least for a good profit although I missed out a huge profit when there was a great pump to the same coin I sold. From such incidents, I learnt to be patient enough to watch for a reasonable hike and sell. However, it really challenges besides being aware of news/updates on whats happening to the coin. At times, I even lost the opportunity to sell my coins at a high profit by holding the coin back thinking still that coin's price would go up more. Hence, always, setting up profit at minimum percentage is really good enough. This would certainly satisfy us.

No you are not the only one and I believe many other experienced the same thing at least once. I feel the same as I experienced it few times in my holding history and most of my experiences were in Bitcoin. After experienced it few times I learn that I should not sell all my holding once the price is going up. Since then, I prefer to sell 50% only and set the other 25% in sell order with higher price and hold the other 25%.

I'm sure many of us have this opinion, but it's not really true. Perception is the key. The perception is selective, because the situations and the experiences influence it. So what has already been experienced, you know and tempts you to think the same thing over and over again. Example: You buy a new car and shortly after you only see it on the road with other drivers. You only see that because your focus is on it. Or we have all sold bitcoin already in profit, you can think of that too.

No one can predict the absolute low and absolute high of any move, this is why laddering and averaging concepts are introduced into trading and almost everyone uses these concepts even professional traders, you will be shocked to know that professional traders use it much more than noobie traders who try to refrain from selling and search for right exit only. Pro traders have 2-3 buying entries where they either average or ladder out their positions and similarly have 2-3 take profits where they average out their sale prices too, it's because no one can predict the end of the move and you should sell before the momentum shifts towards the wrong side, especially if you have a huge position, if you sell during an opposite momentum, you'll even incur heavy slippage. So if this is happening to you, try averaging or laddering into your trading.

For sure lots of people had been able to experience this scenario even to myself which is already lots of situations where I do able to sold up some of my holdings then the price had pumped significantly

after that which would really leave out some regrettable feeling that you should have wait up for a little bit more but there are times which emergencies and target profits been hit up

^ No, there should be no regrets on me even if the price hits a peak because I sold my coins with a targeted profit. Sometimes I have experienced the same and sometimes when it will drop right after selling but I just make sure that I had already profited once I have sold my coins. Commonly, when we are going to sell our assets to a certain target, it means that the market era is rising up.
And if we have reached the target of course the price is in the moment that will rise up again.
I often experience this situation. However, I don't think that I regret my decision in selling the asset at a certain price. Because it has reached my target. When my 1st and second targets hit, I set up stop-loss prices at my first target price and wait for the pump. If I saw a lot of volatilities then I wait to close my order manually. That also happens to me many times and that shows me that I need to learn more about when I should sell the coin. But so far, I am satisfied selling the coin because I always sell the coin when my profits become bigger, although the price still increases after I sold.

It is normal to have that experience because we can not predict accurately how high bitcoin or altcoin prices will increase and as long as we can make a bigger profit, that will not be a problem. I am sure we will have the other chances to make more profit in the next trading time.

Maybe that is our profit at that time and we do not have to regret but we should be grateful because we can sell the coin in the profit time. Not many of us can profit because many of us are still waiting to sell our coins at the next high price, but that does not always increase the price.

Happens all the time. You buy some shitcoins, you think it will moon sometime in the future, months pass, you start to think that it is no good anymore and sell your shit... after you sold your shit it moons. Kind of like they are waiting you to sell.

This is normal if you have been trading for a long time. Often the price is increased so that we can join. And then we lose our profits. So you never jump into that pump. You will be patient, you will get a good entry back. When I don't understand, I turn off my laptop and walk for a while. And when I come back later, I'm happy with my decision.

Oh yes, you are not alone. In my practice of using cryptocurrencies, such events very often occur. This is also happen to me but I don't bother to think about those pumps since I always think profit still profit, I know its so regretful to sell early since we can earn more if we hold but what if the market dumps well for sure we will also regret if we didn't sell at that point that's why better move on and maybe its good not to comeback and see the prices after you sell since somehow that one could trigger your frustrations on the market.

Try to learn the technicals of trading, sometimes we thought the price will go down but because of its appearance but it is still moving up because people are still pumping / buying the coin. ACtually we can see it thru RSI, when the price is still at 71 to 81 RSI price will keep moving up. Also check the MACD. Anyway nobody is perfect no one really predict the price movement. The indicators can help us but not 100% precise.

Well, holders have an extremely bad habit that they like to check the price of their holdings but instead of a set limit of checks, they often randomly test too much and since then, this habit makes them talkative and enjoy prying into past data as well as the current state even after the investment has been abandoned by them. Once checked and surprised, they will re-evaluate everything in terms of opinion and information, pooling regrets to buy the top in risk as a last card, lament about the market here

Because you probably watching chart frequently and don't use indicator and fibonacci to setup your TP price target. This is common for traders that don't use trading tools and trading base on how they feel. Maybe you are watching too much price action of pump and dump and then once you saw a medium size green candle, You immediately sold due to excitement cause by watching chart which will not happened if you setup TP price in advance and stop watching chart.

It has happened to me too, a few times. There are times that I would decide to sell my coins and that day I would want to sell my coins would be the day the market would go down and after I have sold my coins, the market will pump. It happens to a lot of people, but what I did was that I stopped selling when the market goes down.

If I had plans to sell my coins and eventually the market goes down, I wouldn’t sell it again, I would leave it and wait for the right time to sell it. It usually happens to me also on my previous trades on both altcoins and btc. Having a desire to earn money quickly, I failed to initiate long term holding so selling was my last options to do. yeah, gaining a small profit was not our preferred, we wanted more but sometimes the market isn't favorable to us, and losing those chances is a great loss for me. So, I've practice myself to think to give some importance to every opportunity I have, and generating a small profit was still good enough at least we are not losing any.

Many traders will not sell the coin if they have that feeling but I guess that is not a pure feeling and maybe that is greed that comes to us and tells us to wait for more. That makes traders still hold the coin and not decide to sell at the peak price.

Try to learn the technicals of trading, sometimes we thought the price will go down but because of its appearance but it is still moving up because people are still pumping / buying the coin. ACtually we can see it thru RSI, when the price is still at 71 to 81 RSI price will keep moving up. Also check the MACD. Anyway nobody is perfect no one really predict the price movement. The indicators can help us but not 100% precise.

That's exactly what happens, because not many people in the crypto world checks the RSI or MACD, they do not care, I do not care neither. What does that mean? I guess solana went up to ATH price, sure it is understandable that the whole market is going up "a bit", and you should hold your coins because of that, not because of ATH obviously because you wouldn't know that, but you could hold it for a small increase, like maybe 5% increase at best, nobody would have expected a 20%+ increase, that is ATH and that is insane to think about.

However just because market is good and you will have a few good increases, that should normally be a good reason to hold, nobody says that you will make this much money, that is a surprise and I understand that people are facing a surprise but that doesn't mean that we should not be holding because it won't do ATH neither, even a 2% increase is good enough, especially when you consider that is daily as well. The OP was satisfied with the profits he gained from the coin trade. This is the most important point here. Perhaps he didn't want to be an ultimate winner. In this case, FOMO should be avoided, although it can be psychologically difficult. Every successful trader must remain calm in these situations.

You arent the only one who do experience but for sure all of us does.. There's always a point on the time we have sold off our coins for securing profits and then suddenly there's a pump that do happen which would really be leaving that regrettable feeling inside. That's a very difficult thing, it's not easy and it takes time to do that, I personally feel like there is a good chance we may not end up with the "optimum" profit each time, I can't predict the absolute bottom on each bear, and can't predict the absolute peak on each increase as well, it is just not possible and I do not think that it would be possible in the long run neither.

So, what do I do? I buy it when I feel like it is gone down enough, sometimes it goes down even more but that's fine, and sell when I believe it's gone up enough, haven't sold my bitcoins in a long time but I have at least tried it as best as I could when I was trading, surely it did go up some more later on most of the time. Yeah this reminds me of selling almost $2k worth of ETH to a friend of mine for cash on hand for him to start purchasing Axies. However a few days later, ETH’s price skyrocketed from $2k to $3k+ and I had nothing but regrets.

It doesn’t happen to me all the time, but it does happen to me. If you’re steady trading cryptocurrencies, in one time or the other you must have experienced that. There are even times the price will pump very well, and I might decide to sell a day after, because I don’t need the money immediately, and when the day comes for me to sell it I will see that the values has decreased again. You are right but it's not just about being good at selling and consistently do that but as well as being good at buying too. Since you're talking about being consistent in selling and making a profit, it's also giving you the proper time of buying during the corrections and be also consistent in doing that. While this seems like the correct way to go about this it is inevitable that something like this happened, after all the whole purpose of trading and investing is to obtain the most benefits you can, so even if you sell for huge profits if you could have obtained more money than that then it makes sense that you are not comfortable with the result as this means that whatever strategy that you are using still has room to be improved and it is something you need to do, so something like this does not happen again.

You wouldnt really be that comfortable and it would really be just a normal reaction for a person to have because we do always aim for more money and missing out even a buck would give out

If you sold your bitcoin with 40% profit and now you will see that there is potentially gain more than 50% profit, don't be regret because you have sold your coin at the stage of making a profit or your targeted profit. Has happened to me a lot of times in the past, but ever since, I learnt the hard way to be more patient and calculative, such thing as pump happening immediately of after I've gotten out of a coin reduced drastically.
Infact, nowadays, I get out of a coin, and after two to three hours, I go back to check how the coin if fairing, only to have reasons to thank God for making me get out on time.

So @op, to stop getting out too early from a market, I think you should learn to become more patient and make sure to follow up on every coin you invest in on their chat or discussion platform like telegram, Reddit and the rest, with time, you will notice that you no longer experience to this anymore.

Its happens to me too and i think this can happens to anyone. Especially when you hold coins with low trading volume and you dump. The transaction can easily be tracked by the team and pump can happen so that you will regret dumping.

Sad to say but it is not only you who experienced this kind of problem I personally experience this problem on my token holdings before, until now there's a voice inside my head said why you sold it?. Sometimes there is a little frustration but I will always think that it is better to have a profit in a sure way, than waiting for the unknown profit, because no one can predict on what will be the future of the coin that we invested and I believe that sometimes profit depends on our luck.

For me, the analysis is actually correct, but sometimes looking at the declining market makes our psychology disturbed, so we are hesitant to decide whether to hold or sell it. and in the end we couldn't stand it so we immediately sold it. from this it appears that psychology is very decisive for our success in trading

I also experience that not just one time but always, I think the reason is our analysis when we sold that we are looking at the chart of course and there's two things in our mind. This will go down and it's on the top or I will secure my profit but we really don't know what will happen and after it pumps. It doesn't matter as long as we make a profit when we sell the coins we hold, because everyone will experience selling coins too quickly.

Lets exclude bitcoin on the situation and mainly talks on some pump and dump altcoins in the market which do pump out on big multipliers or how many folds on where you do look that it is something which is worth to
sell on and secure while you can but it did make out some triple or quadruple higher on the point you have sell out.

You would definitely be punching yourself that you shouldnt havent sell on that time but as you both said that we should really be contented.

Honestly those pump and dumps are the biggest trouble in the crypto world today, I understand that some people want to make money the quick way but the reality is that we can't make that type of profit without hurting someone else. Trading is fine, investment is fine but those pump and dump groups are the pain of every single market. It doesn't only make people lose money, but it also drops the credibility of so many coins at the same time.

I hope that they are gone soon and it will be illegal to do that in nations, you can't pump and dump in stock world for example, not because you can't, you can do that but the reality is that you may end up with a big punishment and that is why people do not do it, otherwise warren buffet could just buy 1 billion dollars worth of some small company, say it is a great one, and sell it as soon as people start to pump it.

It happens to everyone traders and investors because the market is uncertain and always doing it own thing. The fear of losing one or two from the money that had been made from holding is what makes people to sell there coins prematurely because they are always scared of losing the little they have gained.

The market moves in an up and down directly which makes it hard for one to correctly virsualise the real direction of the market. It since better to make little profits from holding than to sell with loses.

It happens to everyone and not just you, I don’t think it’s something to worry about a lot, you’re not going to get everything. Once you have made some profit you are good enough to sell your assets and move on and start making other plans on how you will invest later on. If you continue to wait to gain everything, you might end up losing everything that you have invested.

So, be happy with what you’ve got. I’ve seen people who kept their assets to the price reached his maximum and unfortunately for them the market went down really fast, and they end up losing a lot . Some of them even decide to leave it there when they see that the loss is too much and they regret why they never sold on time. A little profit is better than nothing.

I was thinking it's happening to only me my own case is a little bit different whenever I buy coin it will start dumping and maybe the coin pump a little bit and I sell the price will continue rising so I later think about the cause of it and I notice maybe u don't have target that's the cause because if I set a target immediately the target is reach I sell and move to another one it won't really disturb me.

It is not in your head, there is a big probability that bitcoin will go up at anytime, it is in its nature to go up which means that whenever you sell there is a good chance it could go up right afterwards. Of course, there are times when it goes down as well so you could be selling right before it goes down, but that doesn't change the fact that it will not be going up after that too.

The thing is that you can't always sell "right before" an increase, I understand the point of "bitcoin goes up in the long term" because that's true, but if the person sells "right before" it goes up then there is something fundamentally wrong with that. I am guessing that it takes a bit of time before it goes up and not like 1 hour after they sold but I assume that, I do not know it.

If we take it on face value and say that they always sell 24 hours before it goes up a lot, then we should find out what they do wrong in the trading world, otherwise it doesn't make any sense at all. This is why I have been in trading for a long time, because I know that I would know my strategy and never sell right before a big increase.

Just same here in some cases, but i can say often with me , when i sell a coin its price is going up and up and in order to buying a coin the price of that coins goes down more. Haha , this is same with me always. But it is also depends upon the fortune and also we can say that in most cases it will depend upon the trader thinking.

Really needing some sort of luck when you do really sell out because for sure most people here had experienced this particular situation where on the time we do sell then the price goes up way more higher

and when we do tend to buy then the price goes even more lower.The feeling that it do gives does really sucks bigtime and this is where this market makes unpredictable.

Thing here is that when you do sell off then thats always considered as profits.Dont ask for more or dont get not contented on what you had gained.

Its happens to me too and i think this can happens to anyone. Especially when you hold coins with low trading volume and you dump. The transaction can easily be tracked by the team and pump can happen so that you will regret dumping.
This is how i feel whenever this happened to me.

This is something that has happened to everyone and the one that has not experimented this probably has not being around this market for long, however we need to learn from this experience after all if this keeps happening to you all the time then there is the possibility that there is something wrong with the system that you are using and you need to adjust it, so even if you cannot eliminate this completely at least you can reduce the instances in which happens to you.
