Is Honeygain legitimate or just another waste of time?

One of the people in my group chat sent another link of something suspicious, I hope that someone can give me the answer if this is a legitimate service, I don't exactly know how it works but it has something to do with the Internet data of your phone.

The website looks fair, but these types of websites always have a catch.
It seems to me that in this case the point is that you earn here passively but dust, and the minimum amount to be paid is $20:

It seems to me that it will take time to collect the minimum amount to withdraw. The website seems fair, but it looks like it's for someone with a lot of patience.
Anyway, if you want, you can try it, I found nothing dangerous about this website.

I've searched about it's legitimacy but some says it is legit. But upon reading about its business model, are you okay to share your data with any other company?
That seems to be their model and I don't think that I'll ever get into this type of company and share my 'internet' with them. Because in my understanding, you'll earn through sharing your 'internet' as they say but I think it's all about your data sharing to those companies.

Have you considered the amount you will be spending on resources such as internet data bundles?

By "sharing your internet" you are basically going to buy data to be able to earn at least $20 which is the withdrawable amount. In the end you might even spend more than you may earn. I think it's a waste of time, except for those using free Wi-Fi.

The OP claims that his router history has a shitload of porn searches, which is weird. I'm not sure, but I believe that these services that pay you peanuts for sitting on the couch have always hidden agenda for their users.

looking at how they respond on that thread, i guess the company already told you that they can do shady activities on your ip/internet/pc. i'd not use them. if you really want to try it, use a sandboxed devices with vpn or something similar so your real ip/main device don't get used as a malware machine.

Thanks for this one and to everyone who answered the thread. Off topic a bit but I think that OP(Reddit) must have those IP porn searches probably locally, meaning that either OP is the one who searches those or someone is secretly connected to their Internet.

All the apps that promise to profit in exchange for doing nothing or risk buying something and getting a fixed monthly return are either fraudulent apps or they earn much more than what they give you and in the end when problems occur the police will start knocking on your door even if you have nothing to do with the matter.

In short, a lot of risk and no promise of profit.

Yes I am serious and no I am not the one that's downloading this bullshit of an app, I know when things are too good to be true and this one is plus I am paranoid with my online security so I really don't like clicking on shit like this. It's people in my group chat that's sharing this BS which does nothing but make money out of those people and not get something in return.

I know that, I've been in this forum long enough to know about those things, which is a blessing but at the same time a curse because everytime I warn them of this stuff, suddenly I am the bad guy.
