Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Well Ratimov, you busted the members I'd mentioned in my own thread and more, so props to you!  You also did an excellent linkage analysis in one of your posts above, which was exactly what I was looking for when I made that thread.  Guess you were way ahead of me.

I'm trying to add those members to my ignore list, but every time I click on "ignore member options" the page just keeps loading and comes back with an error on the bitcointalk server--and that's been happening for several days.  I'll keep trying, and I'd suggest that anyone who doesn't want to unwittingly support an account farm by giving merits to any accounts involved in it to do likewise.

Can't wait to hear from some of the people involved in this.

There is a main account, RainbowKun, which earns merits and distributes it to its alts.
I highly doubt that. RainbowKun makes decent posts and I see no reason for him to create an army of shitposters.

He did however Merit a few people who were congratulating him on his achievements, and right after that many low-ranking accounts made a similar post to get Merited:
Congratulations! !
Congratulations
First of all, congratulations
I instantly noticed those posts, but didn't want to pursue it back then. My interpretation was that RainbowKun had no idea they were only posting for Merit, and he fell for it.

Can you use BBCode from the full Merit history if you post Merit transactions, so I can easily click the link to the post?

There are several topics on the forum where newbies can get merit
That explains why you're currently the #1 Top Merit sender to banned accounts in the last 180 days. Meriting Newbies is tricky sometimes.

Also, who wants to add this farm to ignore and put ~
Excluding them from your Trust list makes no sense, most of them have never left feedback.

I'm trying to add those members to my ignore list, but every time I click on "ignore member options" the page just keeps loading and comes back with an error on the bitcointalk server--and that's been happening for several days.
It's "normal" to get a time-out when your ignore list is too long. You'll have to ignore them one by one by clicking Ignore on one of their posts.

I think you're wrong, Ratimov.

I used my mobile phone to read your post roughly, but I can't reply you seriously now. It's 1:00 am in my time zone. I must go to bed. I will get up early tomorrow morning to wait for the bus with my girlfriend. She will go back to her hometown.

If you are interested, I will take a picture of tomorrow's ticket for you.

Reserved for tomorrow’s post.

I hope you can understand that it is a bit painful to use my phone to reply to the forum.

We are talking about a large-scale farm, presumably run by an Asian (most likely Chinese).

Rainbow-queen - Date Registered:   December 30, 2020, 03:44:39 AM

What about Japanese? In Japan, Kun means male. And from the above one, there's Rainbow-queen which is the opposite gender. There's certainly one connection in between Rainbowkun, Rainbow-queen & kxwhalexk in my opinion. Other accounts are probably connected too but the proofs are quite controversial and/or haphazardly posted.

I was ignoring RainbowK posts for some time just because they are very long and they didn't keep my attention, however I don't see any real connection with other accounts you mentioned.
One more thing going in his favor is that he is not wearing some paid signature and he instead publicly posted links for his Twitter account (active since November 2020) and Telegram account.
He is also active on Medium and you can see what he is writing about, and I don't see any financial or any other benefit for him having over 60 alt accounts like you claim.

Conclusion:
I am not going to investigate this deeply like OP, but posting account screenshots, merits and registration date is not proof that all this accounts are alts operated by Rainbow.
There is a however a chance that few of those accounts are operated by same person, @kxwhalexk for example has very similar style signature with personal links, but that is just my speculation.

The rate at which RainbowKun cranks out content led me to assume he is translating articles from a foreign language... I tried to match up with Korean texts but obviously I should have been looking at Chinese ones... back to that when I get some free time.

I'm not big on connecting accounts through registration dates unless if they are mere minutes/hours apart.

I think Ratimov is definitely on to something here but its not enough evidence for anything conclusive. Good job on getting the ball rolling tho.

Colossal !!!
How many hours of work time did you spend on this investigation?

As a matter of fact, I do not really imagine how one person, even with a schizophrenic state of mind, can manage such a system - a farm.  Therefore, I will make an assumption (maybe a little fantastic) - perhaps this is one, two or three advanced people, but using some kind of cunning artificial intelligence algorithm.  In general, BTT is such a forum where the tentacles of AI can already reach.
How do you look at this hypothesis?

Colossal !!!
How many hours of work time did you spend on this investigation?

From the 18th to the 25th August. Hours 25, in total.

There is clearly a systematic approach to maintaining these accounts. Blindly deny it by saying that well ... it's just a coincidence, you know ... it's stupid.

I do not exclude the fact that this could be a group of people, perhaps work colleagues or friends. But running this whole armada of accounts isn't all that unrealistic. Accounts do not all enter the network at once. If you look at the posting and sending of the merit, then you will not find the same time. This means that the cheater uses alternate login to the accounts. But nothing prevents him from sitting with a multi-browser, where all accounts will be connected at once and just go through the tabs.
I say - colossal work of 25 hours is a lot.
You are a born investigator!

Well, yes, perhaps one person does this, I was just confused by the time interval - it’s less than a year, and his posts are meaningful too.  I understand that such an operation would make sense in those days when in BTT it was possible to receive coins from other users - project devs, simply by writing an invoice in a post (later this was prohibited).  But does collecting merit in this way justify such a huge effort and time spent by this cheater.
It's kind of weird, sort of. Huh

Thank you, but I rarely do this, unless there are some very interesting cases.

The pumping of accounts has actually been going on since the beginning of July, even the RainbowKun account, which was registered before anyone else, began its active posting in July, and other accounts immediately began to appear. We are not dealing with a standard shitposter bot engine that sends spam from multiple accounts. Here the case is more interesting. A person writes good posts from different accounts. This is how he inspires confidence. I understand the skepticism of the community, it's just that many people have dissonance. How so, a good poster and a cheater? Doesn't fit.

Therefore, no one wants to contact these accounts, because they seem to have done nothing bad to anyone, write interesting thoughts, share high-quality posts. So this is all just a misunderstanding.

But what if the cheater thought that since he had knowledge, then why not make money on it by participating in good bounties and campaigns ... at the same time.

After all, 4 accounts are already participating in the bounty, and about 5-6 have applied, but apparently unsuccessfully. I repeat once again, good posting is not a guarantee that someone does not want to cheat the forum system. And in the Russian section there were such. When it was necessary to prove the connection of 4-7 accounts, whose addresses do not overlap. But 4 accounts are much more difficult to prove than 60. Just because the probability that 40-50 people will go to the forum at a certain time interval and then all at once will not appear on Sunday ... also registered on the same dates.
All the same, the logic of the cheater is not clear to me.
Even if he can get into the 4-5 signature campaign (which is almost unrealistic, and he should have understood this already!) Anyway, to get bitcoins you need to write more than 100 posts a week. And this is already a lot. And all this for the sake of the standard  and not too much earnings about $ 1k per month. In my opinion, this is not a very good option for earning. Huh

UPS: Yes, all his accounts are a newbie or a junior member - he can't get into the signature campaign in any way.
Then it is generally not clear why he does all this.

As I suspected, they are indeed engaging in copy/translate/paste posting.

Let's start with this one: kxwhalexk

This post is more-or-less a copied translation of this article. The original is in Chinese. But when you translate the page using Google, its almost word-for-word the exact same.

Title of article: Why Bitcoin can be tamper-proof
Title of thread: Why Bitcoin can be tamper-proof

Translated using Google, from the article:

Quote
The asymmetric encryption algorithm contains both a public key (Public Key) and a private key (Secret Key). The data encrypted with the private key can only be decrypted with the public key, and the data encrypted with the public key can only be decrypted with the private key.

From the post:

The asymmetric encryption algorithm contains both a public key (Public Key) and a private key (Secret Key).

Data encrypted with the private key can only be decrypted with the public key, and data encrypted with the public key can only be decrypted with the private key.

From the article:

Quote
Bitcoin uses an asymmetric encryption algorithm to ensure the security of every transaction. Every account (address) in the network is a public key in a pair of secret keys. The owner of the account will hold the private key.

From the post:

Bitcoin uses an asymmetric encryption algorithm to ensure the security of every transaction. Every account (It may be a bit strange that the word account exists in Bitcoin's utxo system.) in the network is a public key in a pair of secret keys, and the owner of the account holds the private key.

From the article:

Quote
It should be noted that it is extremely dangerous to use a website to generate a Bitcoin address and private key . We do not know whether the website will store a private key, so it is recommended to use a Bitcoin client to generate a public-private key pair.

From the post:

It should be noted that it is extremely dangerous to use a website to generate a Bitcoin address and private key.
We do not know whether the website will store a private key, so it is recommended to use a Bitcoin client to generate a public-private key pair.

Here is the clencher -- he used the same BTC address as the article as an example:

Quote
Among all 35hK24tcLEWcgNA4JxpvbkNkoAcDGqQPsPBitcoin addresses, there are currently more than 250,000 Bitcoin held in the addresses, and the current market value is about 2 billion US dollars.

From the post:

For example, we want to hack an account:35hK24tcLEWcgNA4JxpvbkNkoAcDGqQPsP(12/7/2021 101451.70580859 BTC),

We  have to try 1.1579209e+77 times to crack his private key.

And yes, the rest of the post is also plagiarized, except for where he couldn't translate the word Summit and used the actual name of the supercomputer mentioned, which is Fugaku, which is another name for Mt. Fuji in Japanese.

So if you look at RainbowKun and some of the other overly enthusiastic/wordy posters in your list, I'm sure you can find similar examples. It's not quite as easy as finding same language plagiarists but still quite doable.

Glad you can check my post. That was a post a long time ago. That post was indeed published after I read other articles.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926895.msg57528617#msg57528617

If you look at my post more carefully, you may find these. These provide some explanations for my previous article. And this happened 1-2 months ago.

My purpose is to post articles and study over and over again. Improve myself through other people's corrections.Of course, after the accident, I never published a similar article.

Thank you for your reminder, I added the source of this article.

And yes, the rest of the post is also plagiarized, except for where he couldn't translate the word Summit and used the actual name of the supercomputer mentioned, which is Fugaku, which is another name for Mt. Fuji in Japanese.

Yes, I was also curious about the name of the supercomputer at that time. This is the browsing history of the brave browser on July 12th.

But these do not prove that RainbowKUN and I are the same person. To be honest, I can't write an article like his.

Glad you can check my post. That was a post a long time ago. That post was indeed published after I read other articles.
July 12 is not a long time ago, not in my world, not in yours, not in anybody's.  This isn't a "mistake" you made years ago, it's plagiarism about a month and a half ago.

How is it you haven't been banned for plagiarism yet?  Hopefully those posts have been reported, and if not, I'm going to report them myself right now.  I don't understand your explanation for doing what you did; it sounds like an excuse, which is most likely what it is.  This forum is full of those.

But these do not prove that RainbowKUN and I are the same person. To be honest, I can't write an article like his.

Perhaps not but it doesn't matter because you are passing off the work of others as your own. And I'm not going to sit around and wait for the mods to ban you - although you absolutely should be banned - I'm red tagging plagiarists from this point forward.

Found another one:

Digital currency is only a form of value information, which perfectly realizes the value transmission of the network.

The purpose of Bitcoin is to establish a decentralized electronic digital peer-to-peer (P2P) payment system to prevent the reuse of digital assets.

From the Google Translate results of this article:

Quote

I suspect this is the article that RainbowKun based the thread with the above comment around but happened to find this user directly plagiarizing from it first.

With 30-60 accounts, this is going to be a huge job.

Which is why I'm giving away 5 merits for each alt caught plagiarizing.

Maybe a month is not worth mentioning compared to the time you spend in the forum. But I have been active on bitcointalk since June 19, and it is less than a month before July 12.

Of course, anyone can report me, and I accept how the mod judges it.

If I am banned, I have nothing to say. But if I am banned, please delete my post:My first bitcoin shopping.I don't want to share this thing here anymore.

For my part, I would add that the accounts registered in March were previously caught by me for plagiarism. I sent reports to moderators about copying from Reddit. I did not create posts in the plagiarism topic but simply provided links to the copied materials directly. In total, about  15-20 accounts were blocked. I cannot provide a screen of the reports, as they are no longer visible, and they were blocked in July.

And these are the accounts that are currently registered under the March registration, these are the remaining accounts that rechecked and deleted their early copy-paste.

They had a system: a topic was created, a question that was copied from Reddit, and for this, they sometimes received merits.
Here is an example of plagiarism from Reddit, which moderators refuse to block because the date of publication is controversial.

Ricardo Salinas Pliego, the third richest man in Mexico, said that he hopes his bank will become the first bank in Mexico to accept Bitcoin. We heard that many banks have begun to use cryptocurrencies, especially BTC. The main difference from this case is that Ricardo Salinas Pliego actually believes that BTC is a real gold equivalent, while fiat currency is actually a fraud. He said that the most significant feature of BTC is that it has a total supply, which cannot be said for any legal currency.
What do you think? Is there a real difference? Will it be a successful project?

And also another plagiarism from another source.

Germany's new "Fund Positioning" will take effect on July 1, 2021. The new law will allow 4000 Spezialfonds to invest in encrypted assets.
As early as November 29, 2019, the German Bundestag passed a law allowing banks to sell and store cryptocurrencies. The law went into effect on January 1, 2020. The law also requires cryptocurrency exchanges and custodial service providers operating in Germany to apply for permission from the government.
Managers of institutional investment funds will now be able to allocate 20% of funds to crypto assets. It applies not only to the existing Spezialfond, but also to the new Spezialfond established by institutional investors such as financial institutions, insurance companies and pension funds.
El Salvador has previously designated Bitcoin as legal tender, and now Germany allows Bitcoin investment. The future development of Bitcoin will definitely be very good. If you have Bitcoin now, you will use it to invest. Or is it used for daily payments?

After their way of posting was discovered, and it was mid-July, I began to notice the activity of other accounts, which dramatically changed their way of posting on the forum.

Nope. The only way the red tag comes off is if you are banned.

And I am ashamed of the mistakes I made during my newbie period. Grin

Really you should be ashamed of wasting your time.

RainbowKun copy/pasted untranslated word... perhaps there is no English definition:

The essential attributes of Bitcoin:Bitcoin is a database.
Looking at Bitcoin from the subject of computer science, Bitcoin is a database. This database is composed of decentralized software protocols and standard programming languages. People on the Yunxi Internet transfer value to scarce digital assets with low transaction costs.

Let's put an end to it and find a more concrete example... I spent about an hour. It's somebody else's turn.

I have brought up the history of several blocked accounts from this farm. They were all banned for plagiarism, which was copied from Reddit. After massive blocking, they changed their style, but I am sure that all their posts are also plagiarism, which just needs to be detected. It's just a matter of time.

Nope. The only way the red tag comes off is if you are banned.
I'm really curious whether the mod will think I'm plagiarizing. But I will enjoy this last forum time.

But it's ridiculous, I don't know why I was involved in this incident.

Because you could not find evidence of the problem mentioned in the OP topic, you turned to attack the post I published when I was a novice(And I explained this matter a month ago. Now it is still being pulled out as a handle.)

Check carefully my post with rainbowkun.Double check every post of rainbowkun.I will enjoy the frustration when you can't find anything.Come on!

Look at your face, at least you are not qualified to say this sentence.I learned something in my post and topic. And you still can't find the common ground between rainbowkun and me.I am also ashamed of your wasted time.

One hour is too short, you should learn from ratimov. Read verbatim for 25 hours, you are a bug compared to ratimov.

Check carefully my post with rainbowkun.Double check every post of rainbowkun.

Challenge accepted.

OK this is really weird:

Triffin Dilemma warns us that a monetary system that depends on the currency of a single sovereign country as its only tool in international liquidity will undoubtedly be trapped into Triffin Dilemma.
...
...
The Triffin Dilemma warns us: The system that relies on the currency of a sovereign country as an international currency will inevitably fall into the Triffin Dilemma and collapse.
...

The dude just plagiarized himself. Here is the original BTW:

Not good enough? OK, from the same article:

When the Bretton Woods system is over, the Jamaican system centered on USD with multi-reserve and managed floating exchange rate began to establish, which is also the main currency system in our society. Achieving diversification in international reserves to some extent, it still cannot fundamentally solve that problem particularly when sovereign currencies start to decouple from gold, entering the era of pure credit currency.

So what's happening is RainbowKun did some text spinning before posting and he seems to have combined multiple sources rather than plagiarizing an entire article. His "fans" Roll Eyes however are just straight copy/pasting translated text.

Don't worry I know you're still not satisfied so I am going to let this marinate for a while before tagging him.

One hour is too short, you should learn from ratimov. Read verbatim for 25 hours, you are a bug compared to ratimov.

Or maybe I'm just faster than him.  Cool
