As far as I know, esports betting is already popular among gamblers. There are sites that allow users to place bets on different games. They use in game items that has values or skins to place those bets. If i remember correctly, valve had issues with those people that were gambling with steam items. There are also crypto sportsbook that allows you to place bets using crypto currencies.

I wouldn't recommend stake, they use 3rd party bookmakers to place your bets recently there were some users had their bet void because they placed the bet in the same game on another website that used the same Bookmaker.

I actually think that it's a matter of time before esports is the new dominant category in the sportsbetting industry.

Traditional sports are simply not as exciting to the new generations anymore, and people are able to be more hands on with esports as they can take part with greater ease compared to traditional sports which require significant equipment needs.

It's already a huge market.

I don't think that there is too much uncertainty that the esports market is going to simply continue to expand its dominance. Especially after this pandemic period, esports growth has far outpaced any traditional sport growth due to restrictions.

As others have said, I think that bookies would be pretty dumb to not take advantage of this trend, and offer markets in LoL, Dota, CSGO etc. if they aren't already.

Aren't they already in to it? I have young family members and friends that are talking non-stop about this games. I played Warcraft (old school red alert like) and DotA before that's why I can relate a little bit when they discuss it.
Regarding with bets, I don't recommend it to them but it is being seen by gambling sites. Stake.com offers that service like CS:GO and Dota 2.

Looks like you are late in news mate , Esports are already in crypto scene and there are even tournament being Held here in gambling section years back about Clash Of Clans , Mobile Legends and i think even Rules or Survival ,DOTA and League of Legends .

It's already in a pretty good state though? Heck, it's even growing bigger and bigger the more years pass by. Not to mention that it doesn't also include the game itself, but also the various technological improvements that they could use such as 3d stuff, there's also the release of theme songs and whatnot that fit the game. The industry is no doubt growing and from the article I shared, the expected betting market of Esports is projected to exceed by $205B in 2027. The only downside of usual sports compare to ESports is, during the year-long pandemic, literally the majority of all sports are freeze unlike in Esports that can still be done even without the actual presence of all involved teams on the venue. I also don't see less support from sports due to rigging as that issue is now part of the sports since way back. My friends already got into this kind of stuff where they bet their in-game items but as soon as they run out of any items they can bet, they will stop betting until they get enough items to bet again. The problem with most MMORPGs today is that, every game has been recycled all throughout. No innovation as to questing (typical "kill 5 slimes") and the experience nowadays with new MMORPGs have been stale. I do hope that in the future, new games would introduce new systems in order to be innovative and stay on track.

Yes, they added it to their service. I think in this pandemic is where it really had the spotlight. Playing tournaments at the safety of your own home and even playing with different players in different countries with just the internet connection needed.

True. There isn't more innovation nowadays. All new games follow the same patterns of previous classic successes of the industry. Besides graphical improvements I can't see anything else between old and new games. And depending the game I would say the old ones were a lot more beautiful in shapes and aesthetics than the currently ones.

Anyway esports have more to do with hypes than the quality of the games itself. Doesn't matter how good the games are going to be, in some years this gambling category is going to be much more popular, since the children and youngs of nowadays don't have money to gamble, but after they start working and living by themselves it will be possible for them to become esports enthusiasts.
