It's very easy to select one either ETH or BTC. But just make sure you will not regret it later in case of the dump. So before making any financial decisions you have to learn about the business where you are going to put your money. There are many technical things that you should know before buying Bitcoin or ETH, otherwise maybe after a few days, you will say Bitcoin is a scam.

However, I will prefer to buy Bitcoin. So first of all you need to know how Bitcoin works, how Bitcoin price works. It's quite important to choose the right wallet and secure it the right way before buying Bitcoin where you will store your assets. I will prefer a noncustodial wallet like Ledger Hardware wallet or Electrum. So please take time to learn more about Bitcoin, so you will not regret it later.

Depends on you, if you like high risk, choose a bigger coin, such as Bitcoin. If you want long term profit, choose ETH. Look at Ethereum graphs, they all have positive values in long term.
This is not true, it's either you're mixing up facts or not just sure of what you wrote. When comparing Bitcoin with other coins, it's risk is actually smaller than the rest, I mean it's not just one shitcoin or pump and dump coin that can depreciate into oblivion, if you truly understand the Bitcoin network, you'll understand that it's a coin that actually has a great use case and that will be sustainable for quite a very, very long time.

And as for long term profits, it's definitely Bitcoin that one should be picking over eth or any other crypto for that matter, altcoins are generally short term projects cause many of them can only give ROI for the meantime and once they dump you can forget about the project; but Bitcoin is obviously different, it may not actually give short term profit cause it doesn't just 'pump', but if you're patient to stay in the network, long term profit is more or less certain.

Both can drop. You can't skip that part but if you want to buy, buy bitcoin but before doing that. Take everyone's advise about its nature.

You have to be prepared and understand that bitcoin and ethereum are fluctuating that much, always.

I don't think you should invest in both btc and eth to avoid disappointment because I see that you are still new I believe you should learn about cryptocurrency trading first how the market is I believe you should know the basics of cryptocurrency before you invest in both btc and eth because both coin can drop but if you understand how the market works I don't think you should have problem even if they dump. You can also check my post about cryptocurrency trading maybe it might help a little bit.

BTC or ETH? I would appreciate your suggestions, thanks.
Bitcoin and Etehreum both are best for the long run. You can buy both of them. Ethereum is very undervalued right now, Most people believe Ethereum will be hit a new all-time high price within a short time. My target is $8k to $10k and I believe it will happen within one 1year. There is no doubt that bitcoin is the best coin for long-term investment. You choose both good coins. Don't hold all of your coins in only one wallet. Try to use some other wallet also, I suggest you use MEW for Ethereum(ERC20) coin.

Don't invest in any other coins until you own 1 Bitcoin! Or something like that. Do you know who said that? Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum. That should give you some perspective about how to go about it.

There is a dedicated board for Bitcoin and on this board, you can talk about altcoins.
Your hyperlink is messed up. What were you trying to point to? Also, it doesn't make sense saying that "there is a dedicated board for bitcoin where you can talk about altcoins".

You can setup DCA bot for it, It will be nice to buy small amount regularly.
Why would you rely on a bot to do the trading for you? A bot shouldn't have such permissions if you ask me. You can't be certain it won't malfunction and mess up what you were trying to acquire.

Depends on you, if you like high risk, choose a bigger coin, such as Bitcoin.
That makes no sense. If you want to lower your risk, you buy bitcoin.

If you want long term profit, choose ETH. Look at Ethereum graphs, they all have positive values in long term.
And Bitcoin doesn't have a positive long-term return? How much was it worth when it first got listed on exchanges? How much was it worth 5 years ago? How about 2019/2020?

Dude first of all, nothing is guaranteed here. All of the cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin and Ethereum are subject to volatility. Both of them are great long term coins. If I were you, don't just put all of your eggs in one basket. learn to diversify. Maybe put some of your amount on BTC, and then some of ETH, etc.

It is difficult to easily understand how the crypto market actually works. It takes a lot of experience to understand that.
Bitcoin is the number one crypto in the world and its price is much lower now. So I would advise you to hold & buy Bitcoin.

You already see what happens with bitcoin and ethereum but if you want to invest in crypto, I suggest you buy bitcoin because it will increase higher in the future.
Bitcoin and ethereum can drop many times, but altcoin can drop deeper than bitcoin and will be hard to increase if the bitcoin price does not increase.
Both bitcoin and ethereum will have a risk, but there is nothing to worry about as long as you can manage the risk.
Ethereum can be a short-term investment while bitcoin can be a long-term investment so that will depend on you which coin you will buy later.

I wouldn't use the term "investment" for altcoins because they are horrible as investment since they don't really have any real potential for rise and almost all of them are in a bubble.
Altcoins are mainly good for short term trading, specially when they are being pumped and dumped but obviously pump and dump is a very risky thing to get involve in (it is a form of market manipulation and very unpredictable).

I agree to the previous posts that you shouldn't invest to it if you don't understand it fully (for now). But if we're talking about trades here interms of potential profit, I believe both BTC and ETH has very high posibility that you'll profit if you invested into it for a long term one. Between the two, I trust the bitcoin more because of it being decentralized and secured, plus that it wasn't largely premined and has only 21million total supply compared to ETH.

Market is unpredictable man. Any coin go can down to the earth at any time or go up to the sky at any moment. So, be open to the markets irrespective of moving to any coin. Learn more about crypto market. Both coins are really the best coins. However, you can very well choose Bitcoin to invest. Kindly go for a long term investment rather than day trade as long as you are familiar with day trading.

It is not easy to predict cryptocurrency because sometimes you will predict coin and it will fail no matter how you go for research about it but always try to understand the cryptocurrency market first but for now I will suggest btc or Ethereum because this are the only coins that are pumping and doesn't dump anywho presently. Their are others altcoins but I don't believe on them too much. Always try to go for more research because nobody is perfect, I just make a suggestion but not too sure about the coins because market is not stable nowadays

For me, there is nothing better than bitcoin so far. Bitcoin, Bitcoin only!

This is an Bitcointalk forum, so I think many people here would agree with you. There is nothing better in the tech world than bitcoin so far. Bitcoin is far superior than other p2p systems because it actually respects freedom. We are blessed to have the freedom to move our money anywhere in the world.

It is indeed Bitcoin! Bitcoin’s price has skyrocketed as it’s become a household name. Five years ago, you could buy a Bitcoin for about $500. As of Oct. 29, 2021, a single Bitcoin’s price was over $62,000. That’s the growth of about 12,300%.

I intend to purchase some BTCs/ETHs into my blockchain wallet but I'm still sceptical about which of the coins is better and won't fall below the water. I am asking this because I don't understand how the cryptocurrency market works yet.

BTC or ETH? I would appreciate your suggestions, thanks.

I think that is the main reason on why you have no idea what cryptocurrency to invest on. Before you dump your money into an investment, it is definitely essential that you should have done your homework first. Asking someone and relying on their expert advice/opinion SOLELY can potentially be dangerous, especially if you mainly based your decisions from them.

I personally want to invest into BTC given its track record on its price history. I usually invest for long-term and HODL until its price reached a certain point where I am comfortable withdrawing them.

Both currencies are okay to me. In fact, they are not just the top but they are the once that have stand out the test of time and are still doing great in the market.
Don't get so scared of a drop, instead, study the market, the tricks behind crypto projects and anticipate for a buying opportunity on either coins though, I personally prefer bitcoin to Ethereum. So, anticipate a bear market for a buying opportunity, buy and hodl the coins, knowing that it would eventually return to bull market and you see the coin appreciating.
