I just remembered the poly network heist, one of the biggest heist in the history.

Is there also a possibility BTC can be hacked?
If it is, I bet every currency will start to declined.
How safety BTC security for you?

Poly network is using smart contract and they have some vulnerability on there code that's why it was hacked. Bitcoin is running for more than a years and the code is design without any centralization to control it. Meaning you can't change the code unless the majority of miners vote for it unlike poly network which the developer alone decides on the code of smart contract. The only attacked possible for BTC is to flood the mempool by spam transaction so that it's network will slow down and cause panic to all users. But hack like happening on other blockchain with smart contract is not possible.

There's lots of speculation in other projects such as POLY. Someone found a bug and decided to get advantage of it. The problem lies on the attention that is given to it as a speculative tool, before it is even fully tested.

Bitcoin had never experienced such scenario in the past, but the Poly network and Bitcoin are incomparable. For example, Bitcoin's whitepaper is 9 pages long. Poly's on the other hand is 41. This will discourage someone from occupying themselves with it technically. They also supposedly solve different problems.

The causes of bugs are due to the ignorance of the developers and to the lack of new interested parties willing to review the code. So I'd say that Bitcoin is far more secure in terms of backdoors.

We have an extraordinary uniqueness in Bitcoin, and to date nothing has been so threatening to the security of Bitcoin as to actually wreak havoc with a breach. Poly is clearly very different, in terms of advantages and also the credibility of the contract makes Bitcoin much more difficult to penetrate. After all, behind the resilience of Bitcoin there is a protective force that until now has really kept Bitcoin from being attacked.

If the code was vulnerable you would have heard about Bitcoin getting breached and we never heard about that and will never hear about that, it is the most secure system out there and there is no way anyone could hack the system. You loose the coins only when you are not careful about storing your coins and when you are investing in cryptocurrency you need to learn the basic of holding the coins and how to secure your system and if you can do that everything is safe.

Bitcoin is attacked all the time by regulators, bankers, IMF and anyone who is controlling dollar and other fiat currencies, but you can't compare worthless centralized altcoin like poly with Bitcoin proof-of-work.
Is there also a possibility BTC can be hacked?
If it is, I bet every currency will start to declined.
No. You can't really hack bitcoin network that is most secure network of computers in the whole world, and only thing someone can do is to try and manipulate prices with news and regulations.
Every cryptocurrency is following Bitcoin just like all other fiat currencies are following dollar, and price change has nothing to do with any hacks, but you are welcome to try and hack it if you can.
Small bugs in code are always possible, but there are many eyes on Bitcoin code to fix this.

There is no cryptocurrency that is above being attacked, bitcoin included. The kind of attack on any network Nd it being successful is where underlying difference could be found. Bitcoin is far above such silly hacks as it was done on the Poly network. Bitcoin has been in existence for 11years+ now and still no bug has been found, that's not to say it haven't been tried unsuccessfully else, we could have heard of it.
The event of an attack could have only come from a 51% attack but, that too is only half what is need for a successful attack and in the real sense, its actually not some hack attempts but, a mining an acquisition of mining rights for confirmation of transactions.

Bitcoi is as safe as its always been and there is nothing that could go wrong. The only attacks on bitcoin  remains about the FUD and FOMO spread around which depends largely on individual perception.

Let's not forget attacks from other cryptocurrencies.
I remember in 2017 when BCH forked from Bitcoin,  it was literally an attack.

They used bitcoin name and also said that bch was the "real" bitcoin, the Satoshi vision and all those lies and misinformation.

Bitcoin price dropped a lot in that period, and they altered able to push bch to 0.5 btc. Thankfully bch is now an irrelevant shitcoin that no one cares about.

Yeah, that was the insider attack coming from Roger Ver with some Chinese mining pools and funny thing is that later he joined forces even with Faketoshi Craig Wright and that clown Calvin Ayer, that was really pathetic.

There is always a risk of new forks happening in Bitcoin but that is not always a bad thing, some people just think they can do something better and in open source space that is always a possibility.

Other possible attack that would come from inside would be with some malicious developers adding bad code in Bitcoin, but that would be cross examined and probably rejected by many other developers.

Yes! Bitcoin can very well be attacked by the hackers but they need quantum computers to hack into the SHA256 protocol. Which looks reallu unlikely to happen.

I would request you to read the below article as it talks about all types of potential risks of bitcoin.

https://river.com/learn/can-bitcoin-be-hacked/

Great and informative article which should answer your questions.

Yes. There were vulnerabilities which could've otherwise affected Bitcoin negatively, for eg. the inflation bug back in 2010 which was fixed in a fork. If it were to happen in this climate today, then we would see very different responses.

There are several possible theorized attacks, 51% attack being one of them and the counter being the effort and the resources needed for it. Other than that, you might have a few zero day exploits here and there but it would be quite rare for it to threaten Bitcoin, likely only the individual clients or nodes.

I don't think so.
It's decentralized.
And the only means by which that can happen is even a higher impossibility.

Everything is possible, because no network is 100%. But we still believe Bitcoin has never been attacked as badly as Poli. I hope hackers stay away from Bitcoin, the security of a system that is said to be strong even for hackers always has 1000 ways to break into it. Believe it or not, the Bitcoin network is already established and their system is amazing enough to protect against multiple attacks.

Do you know why still Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency even it's taking longer transaction time and higher fees? Because of security. Bitcoin networks are quite stronger than any other cryptocurrency. Lots of cryptocurrencies have been created with faster transaction speed and lower transaction fees, but due to lack of strong security, still they are the back of Bitcoin. I don't think we should compare Bitcoin networks security with other tokens or coins.

OP should read this article to know more about Bitcoin security, Can Bitcoin Be Hacked?

Shitcoins get attacked all the time for many reasons that don't apply to Bitcoin. They have very low PoW, they have poorly written and poorly tested code, they have complex design that creates a huge surface for bugs, while Bitcoin intentionally limited what you can do in transaction.

Bitcoin had bugs in the past, some of which were extremely severe, but luckily they were never abused on a large scale because they got patched very quickly.

Well, bitcoin has a strong protocol that could be possible it is hard to attack. There are too many speculations on it about attackers by so far by now there is not really happen. The attack could have been done in manipulating bitcoin and putting regulation on it but when we talk technically, there's no attack that could be found. Perhaps, there could be more attempts on attacking the network on bitcoin to exploit before but sad to say, no one has successfully done it, it is decentralized .

It lasted for a decade and look at on its current state on where its been sitting? For sure lots have tried on making out some exploit in terms of security and similar aspects but still they do failed up to do so

which its no surprising that the entire community would really be having that kind of trust and the current ranking and adoption is the proof that Bitcoin is still much preferable on this market.

I do only believe on a attacks when Quantum technology is here but for now it would be still considered to be strong in terms of security and exploits.

You mean blockchain? Or 51% attack? it's possible but not logical.

For a 51% to be successful, the entity would need more hash power than the entire bitcoin mining combined globally. So it will cost a lot of money, more than what he will profit if ever he decided to run a 51% attack.

And if ever he pull this on off, it will be noticeable for other miners, and they know what is happening, so eventually they will have to pull the plug or switch to different pools.

So I would say that bitcoin network is secure as compare to those alt coin network.

What makes you think that bitcoin has not being attacked all this time? It is obvious that governments do not like bitcoin, if there was such a catastrophic flaw as the ones found in those smart contracts then you can be completely sure that bitcoin would have been destroyed already.

The fact that bitcoin is still here despite the opposition from governments and banks speak volumes about the security of bitcoin, so if I were you I would not be worried about this possibility at all.

What people usually forget in comparisons like the one OP made is that they forget that there is a huge difference between an invention made by a competent developer and reviewed by lots of other experts and cryptographers AND a quickly put together project built on a hype to get people to "invest" in it and make profit.
The former will always be a much stronger result that has withstood millions of hackers and attackers (state owned or individuals) and has been running for 12 years and the later is one in a tens of thousands of weak projects that get pumped for a little while and eventually disappear in a couple of years and obviously can't even handle a small attack.

Yes it can be attacked, bitcoin isn't the perfect machine to not become invulnerable to such attacks, but saying that, even if bitcoin can be attacked, there's developers that's rigorously making improvements in the network.

In addition to developers, bitcoin also has miners where the miners are tasked with completing mathematical calculations to verify the contents of the block, this is one of the security of bitcoin, so it will be difficult for hackers to carry out attacks on the blockchain and bitcoin system.

There is no way for bitcoin to get hacked, as the code is not vulnerable so our investment is safe because hackers won't find a way to hack this project, you will only lose your money based on how you store your bitcoin and not the system itself because it is the safest and secured project compared to others. Don't worry about bitcoin, worry about those shitcoins because they are always vulnerable to hacking.

Bitcoin is not invulnerable to hacking, like with any software there are bugs that could lead to dangerous exploits. But Bitcoin is being developed by hundreds of very bright people, and the code is very carefully reviewed so the chance of there being a bug that would lead to practical attacks is very very low, but it does exist.

When you think btc is insecure, you don’t need to know too much about whether there are loopholes in smart contracts, because people all over the world are buying btc, which is enough to prove that smart contracts are not vulnerable to attacks, and all currencies are It makes sense to regard Bitcoin as the king of cryptocurrencies!

I believe that there are countless hackers in attacking Bitcoin, they are looking for a vulnerability of Biitcoin untiring. We haven't heard any news that hackers have successfully attacked Bitcoin. I believe in the perfect system and system of Bitcoin. Bitcoin's technology is great and will continue to innovate. I will always believe in Bitcoin.

There's attempts back in the day and none of them have succeeded and some of those people that attempted to break the code said that it's unbreakable to break. Plus, what's the point of breaking bitcoin anyway? What would they get from doing so?

Let's not forget attacks from other cryptocurrencies.
I remember in 2017 when BCH forked from Bitcoin,  it was literally an attack.

Rsk of a code based attack or a hack of the Bitcoin network seems a far off possibility now with so many different teams involved and core devs having a lot of upside in terms of funding and incentives. The kind of attacks that people like faketoshi, Ver or Calvin can do, generally find takers during a bear market or during long sideways movements.

In the bullrun, everyone is too busy flipping NFTs and tokens to care about their shenanigans. Everyone knows what Bitcoin is. In terms of social attack vector, i think now that Bitcoin has withstood an onslaught of negativity from the likes of Elon Musk, there is hardly anything that can shake its position as the de-facto reserve currency of the Web 3 economy. The only uncertainty that remains to play out is SEC and other forms of US legislation

In bitcoin's 12 years of existence, there has never been an attack on bitcoin. We have heard many times bitcoins are hacked and stolen but all of them are from exchanges. All of these attacks are not vulnerabilities of the bitcoin network and are vulnerabilities of exchanges. Attacks that rocked the crypto market include:
1. Mt.Gox
Hacked date: June 19, 2011 and 2014
Hacked amount: 2609 BTC, next batch is 750,000 BTC
2. BitFloor
Hacked date: September 2012
Hacked Amount: 24,000 BTC
The hacker obtained the key to access the exchange's Bitcoin wallet. This key is not encrypted, it is stored online as a backup for the offline hard "key". And BitFloor closed in 2013
3. Bitstamp
Hacked date: 4/1/2015
Hacked Amount: 19,000 BTC
4. Bitfinex
Hacked date: August 2016
Hacked Amount: 120,000 BTC
This is the second largest BTC hack after Mt.Gox, the number 120,000 BTC. The cause of the hack was that the hacker successfully exploited a security flaw in the multi-key authentication e-wallet mechanism used by Bitfinex.
And many more hacks going on on crypto exchanges, so you should be very careful and learn how to protect your assets to the maximum.

Technically speaking, Bitcoin can be attacked. But it's difficult to do so right now, since there's a large number of miners backing it every step of the way. It would take a ton of money for an attacker to disrupt the whole Blockchain network. Paying millions (if not billions) of dollars just to make a 51% attack on the blockchain is simply not worth it. Hackers can still attack wallets themselves in order to steal users' private keys. It's up to you to take the necessary security precautions to avoid becoming victim of hacks or theft.

To say the least, Bitcoin is as secure as "Fort Knox". No one will be able to steal your Bitcoin if you do the right thing. It's sound money that's often better than Fiat. Day or night, Bitcoin will always be there thanks to its decentralized and censorship-resistant design. The larger the network's hashrate, the more secure it'll be against 51% attacks. I shouldn't worry about Bitcoin getting attacked in our lifetimes. Just my opinion Smiley

A lot of scammers  have plan to attack bitcoin but they have never succeeded because the security is very tight knowing its decentralized. Even the government also want to attack bitcoin but it will never be possible for sure. Maybe with our individual accounts, the attack are much more possible especially if the owners are not responsible with the security of their accounts. But if we know how to handle them with safety and security, then scammers will never see any chances to attack them.

That's why PoW is best for bitcoin because it has been securing the network until now and it will continuously secure. There has been a lot of suggestions about bitcoin changing it to PoS but there's a major network security concern and that's why it is good as is.
Those altcoins networks can be hacked and they cannot be the same as bitcoin's security. That's why you get to see always the news about hacking in altcoin's networks like Poly and there's a 51% attack in the past from Bitcoin gold and others because they're not that really secure.

I have no knowledge of any hacking incident happened during the past years on Bitcoin network. I think it is next to impossible that Bitcoin network can be hacked its security is unique and hacks are very unlikely to happen on its network. This is mainly because of the technology that underpins it – the blockchain. The blockchain records and indexes Bitcoin transactions, creating a searchable database of all of them in the process. Think of it like a normal ledger.

Poly Network wasn't a blockchain, it was a DeFi platform, so it is not really comparable to Bitcoin. This was more like The DAO getting hacked. Bitcoin can't be hacked because it is not the code itself that decides what Bitcoin is, it is consensus. You can have bugs in Bitcoin Core software but when this happens they are fixed and everyone agrees on what will get validated.

The Bitcoin price "dropped a lot" in 2017?Are you kidding me?2017 was extremely bullish for Bitcoin. The BTC price went from 1-2K in January to 17-20K USD in December 2017.Is this a price drop? Grin
The BCH fork was an attack, but it wasn't a hack.
Actually I think that the BCH hardfork pumped the Bitcoin Core price a little bit, because many traders and investors bought BTC,because they wanted to claim free BCH and sell them for some easy profits.
Anyway, comparing Bitcoin Core to this Poly network altcoin is ridiculous.
Bitcoin cannot be hacked and even if if was hacked, the BTC price will drop to zero, which makes the hack pointless, because the hackers will spend a lot of resources and efforts and get nothing in return.

Bitcoins by itself cannot be attacked if we are using it safely and correctly. When we are talking about quantum computers it's a whole different thing, that can definately create probelms but for the time being the reason,I do not take quantum computers as a threat is because the government websites are more vulnerable than bitcoins, therefore at the end of the day, these websites would be the one to go if the quantum era comes, therefore I do think these computers would be monitored closely.

Other than that there is something like personal errors that one makes every once in a while in context to their bitcoins and their own wallets, downloading something that is not really safe, going on suspicious websites, using the same address again and again, not securing your wallet etc.

Also the hash rate might be forcibly controlled for example:- China, the government tried to but did not succeed.

These personal errors makes it way more easier to attack and to hack bitcoins, which honestly is something that can mess the whole system up in a matter of seconds, therefore I do believe that it can be attacked for sure. But it's dependent on your personal errors for the time being and it's not an issue with the bitcoin network..( for the time being )

Undeniably, PoW is the best consensus algorithm towards achieving decentralization and censorship-resistance. Other consensus algorithms may be energy efficient, but they're missing the most important thing to keep the blockchain as resilient from attacks as possible (which is security/reliability). It's no wonder why other altcoins are easily "attacked" by malicious actors in cyberspace. The same cannot be said about Bitcoin, since the cost to perform such an attack would be too high. Hacking Bitcoin is like trying to hack "Fort Knox". I hope Bitcoin stays this way so that people can enjoy financial freedom without disruptions. Just my opinion Smiley

Theoretically there is no way to hack BTC due to the use of blockchain technology. But the recent hacks of different cryptocurrencies should be taken into consideration. If BTC is hacked someday, thousands of people may suicide.

BTC is the most secure crypto asset today, the only thing that you will lose it is by getting hacked in your wallet account holding it. Beside, there are multiple holders that didn't even think about being breached how ever they are more concern in the price of btc today. Price manipulation maybe, but the whole thing I think not.

I believe there are countless hackers attacking Bitcoin, they are tirelessly searching for Bitcoin vulnerabilities. We have not heard any news that hackers have successfully hacked Bitcoin. News like this can shake the community a bit, but it's important to note that this will not affect the Bitcoin network, which will continue to function normally. Bitcoin-related third-party websites or services are not directly connected to the Internet. Due to the proof-of-work mechanism implemented by the network, it is not possible to “crack” the blockchain and attempt to crack the system. Also, Bitcoin is designed to be a self-sustaining system, so even if some malicious actor tries to attack it, the network will adjust to keep it running without harm. Do you know why Bitcoin is still the most popular cryptocurrency even though it takes longer transaction time and higher fees? For security. The Bitcoin network is quite stronger than any other cryptocurrency. A lot of cryptocurrencies have been created with faster transaction speeds and lower transaction fees, but due to the lack of strong security, they are still the backing of Bitcoin.

bitcoin is very different from poly, bitcoin does not use smart contracts so it is very safe...

since bitcoin appeared from the very beginning I believe there are millions of hackers who test their abilities whether they are able to hack bitcoin but we see that bitcoin is very safe until now.

Bitcoin Blockchain cannot be hacked and there will be no issue in it. However, bitcoin wallets and exchanges can be hacked and you can lose your funds. However again, no one can hack your bitcoins from your wallet unless you are careless with your secret keys or passwords.

I am no veteran but I have read previously that Bitcoin also had some bug when it started that could had been a big issue now if it was not found then and corrected Immediately. Most of the new blockchain could also suffer same mistakes at their early beginning but why theirs is hurting now is because the industry is now global and there are scammers waiting on such mistakes to capitalized on therefore project should not risk their reputation and carryout proper auditing and this show be repeated frequently.

Back when Bitcoin started, you could risk this kind of mistake but now it will hurt you more considering there are many competition out there, if your blockchain is found to not be safe, it will be hard to win back the trust of the community as they will just easier move to a more secure blockchain.

Hypothetically, it's possible to launch an attack on Bitcoin. Realistically, it'll require huge amounts of money that only a handful of people in the world possess, and this will only cause temporary damage because the market will fight back. As for hacking Bitcoin, that's not possible, unless there's a technological breakthrough with quantum computers in the future. That breakthrough might happen, but I also think it's unlikely and not something we should currently worry about. As for a 51% attack, it's probably more realistic, but it's way less damaging, and also highly unlikely. Traditional currencies are way more susceptible to being destroyed or seriously damaged, so Bitcoin is the best we got, and it's good enough.

There has been a major attack on some exchanges which some of them due to closed permanently and the problem is only on them because they don't have enough security to counter the hackers. If we are talking about the bitcoin system specifically, then there has been no major attack that has become a problem until today. Everything about bitcoins is good and well that's why every year all we see is new big-time investors and also companies that you never think of joining the innovation of crypto industry has now part of our community like for example Visa and PayPal.

I really think this is a best question that we need to discuss at current time.
Regarding the poly network, there were some vulnerabilities for which it got hacked.
But same didn’t happen with BTC. BTC is decentralised and cannot even control by it’s own owner.
No one can hack it, but yes they can stole your private key and can get access to the funds.
This is the only thing possible.

Of course. Bitcoin is the most secure cryptocurrency in the world. There's no doubt about that. The problem is not Bitcoin, but rather wallet software from third-parties. Any bug, flaw, or vulnerability could expose your private keys, making it easier for anyone to hack and get away with your BTC. Human error can also lead towards a successful attack. If you follow the necessary precautions to secure your Bitcoin, no one will be able to attack you. Paper wallets and/or hardware wallets may be all you need to keep yourself safe as much as possible from hacks or theft. Just my thoughts Grin

An Interview with Andreas M. Antonopoulos regarding 51% attacks on Bitcoin
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5293723.msg55693998#msg55693998

Here are the most important parts that were mentioned in the interview:

Andreas was asked whether it would be possible for a nation state to acquire a sufficient amount of hardware to carry out a 51% attack on the Bitcoin network, and to completely take control of the whole network.
Andreas considers that an impossible task, and gives several reasons to why that is.

- The required amount of mining hardware needed for a 51% attack on Bitcoin is simply not publicly available for sale. Companies that manufacture and sell such mining devices, are already doing so at full capacity. Everything they manufacture, they sell very quickly. There are no hidden stocks that someone could buy up. He mentions an interesting fact that if someone wanted to carry out such an attack, he would have to constantly buy all the ASIC miners from all of the companies that exist on the market, for more than a year. With the sole aim of getting close to that 51% hashrate needed for an attack. So this is an impossible task.

- The second assumption is that someone could buy the required materials, needed to produce a sufficient amount of mining devices for a successful attack. Andreas says that the best miners are made of 16-12nm silicon chips. Only those made with the best quality materials would have to be used to reach that rate needed for a 51% attack. If chips with lower quality materials were to be used, many more mining devices would be needed. The companies that produce this type of silicon, produce it mostly for graphics cards and devices for artificial intelligence units. They already have plenty of work to do and don’t have the capacity to meet the demands of a new client who would like to buy all of that to attack the Bitcoin network.

- The third possibility that Andreas talks about is that someone builds their own factory where they would produce the required devices. The investment needed for such a venture would be tens of billions of US$. These devices would then consume a huge amount of electricity and create new expenses in the multi-million dollar regions.

..
Have a look:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w-Q2GOZJSQ

This is the best piece of information I've read about 51% attack. If this is not enough for you, then keep looking for a black cat in the black room.

I don't believe bitcoin can be attacked. Since i started using bitcoin to invest in my country, i have never experiences any attack in my bitcoin because the network security is so strong compared to other cryptocurrencies.

The reason why bitcoin can never be attacked:
1. Trust: Many countries trust bitcoin than any other cryptocurrencies in the world because of the good results they are receiving from bitcoin.
2. Eliminate: Bitcoin can not easy to be attack because it came to eliminate errors in transaction attack and transaction delay in the world.

It could possibly happen in the future because we all know that anything on the internet is hackable these days. However, it's still an advantage that the security that Bitcoin is providing these days is enough to keep all our funds safe. Let's just hope that as the technology develops more, Bitcoin would also provide us continuous security.

It's not a doubt that bitcoin has been attacked a lot of times. And just recently, China had attacked bitcoin again, but its not new to us. And we all know that most of the governments will not accept bitcoin because its  decentralized so they will keep on putting restrictions to it. But even from all those attacks and hacks from scammers, bitcoin is standing still. There is a tight security on the network and the fact that it has been here for 12 years, then its a proof that it can never be easily taken from us. Our own accounts may be hacked but that is due to the owner's way of mismanaging.

I just remembered the poly network heist, one of the biggest heist in the history.

Is there also a possibility BTC can be hacked?
If it is, I bet every currency will start to declined.
How safety BTC security for you?

Want to know veterans answers.  Undecided

China had a lot of hardware within their borders until they recently banned it and if the government really wanted to crush Bitcoin it might have been able to rally these sort of resources. The other way to break it would be a quantum attack that would have enough computing power to test every combination of a private key in a very short space of time to "hack" into any wallet. However once we reach that level of computing knowledge then even the traditional banking systems would be equally unprotected too, so nowhere would keep you safe.

No I don't believe that BTC itself can be attacked but I do believe that holders of BTC can be attacked.
Someone like myself has had my BTC hacked but it was in a way my own fault.
what you say is right, someone who doesn't take good care of their bitcoin wallet is a target for hackers. to this day we have never heard of bitcoin being hacked, so I assume it is impossible for bitcoin to be hacked, bitcoin is super safe.

I don't believe bitcoin can be attacked.
There are various types of attacks. Bitcoin hasn't suffered a 51% attack like many POS-based coins, that's true. But there were cases when hackers/coders managed to take advantage of certain security flaws or bugs in the codebase. One such vulnerability was the overflow bug from 2010 where someone managed to generate over 180 billion bitcoins.
More recently, the official site, bitcoin.org was hacked to host a money-doubler scam.

It's not a doubt that bitcoin has been attacked a lot of times. And just recently, China had attacked bitcoin again, but its not new to us.
China is restricting the use of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, but they haven't attacked its network in anyway. They do that under the pretext of protecting their citizens from volatile investments, and keeping their electric grid stable. But that's a load of bullshit because their intention is to eliminate the competitors as part of their plan to roll out a national centralized digital coin. A decentralized one like bitcoin is therefore a threat to a fascist, I mean communist regime.

The other way to break it would be a quantum attack that would have enough computing power to test every combination of a private key in a very short space of time to "hack" into any wallet. However once we reach that level of computing knowledge then even the traditional banking systems would be equally unprotected too, so nowhere would keep you safe.
And if that happens, Bitcoin could upgrade to a quantum-resistant algorithm. That's the theory at least.

It is not a question of believing or not believing. It's a factual possibility that it could be attacked if someone was able to gather enough hardware together to perform a 51% attack. China had a lot of hardware within their borders until they recently banned it and if the government really wanted to crush Bitcoin it might have been able to rally these sort of resources.

It is a question of understanding what it would take, not believing or disbelieving.

A theoretical possibility does not equate to a factual ability. It will always be mathematically possible to conduct a 51% attack on Bitcoin, no matter what the hashrate. But it will never be economically feasible, nor permanent, for any entity to even want to attempt it. Even if successful, the network would reorganise in a matter of blocks, and then the attacker(s) wouldn't even be able to recoup the spent resources attacking it.

China could never crush Bitcoin like this. If they could, they would have tried already.

Theoretically, a 51% attack on Bitcoin is quite possible. And it will always be like that. None of the cryptocurrencies seem like they can't be attacked actually. Like you indicated, we have witnessed some examples also. Even though their networks have a very strong security level, they will still be under the threat of being attacked every time. Because none of the technologies can guarantee not being attacked for now.

bitcoin can surely be hacked, there are many vulnerabilities when it comes to cryptocurrency and bitcoin is not an exception to that, as long as you will not make a secure hiding place of your information when it comes to your wallet then surely you can be hacked and all your hard earned btc will be taken away from you, so to prevent this make sure that all your info are completely secure.

Now Bitcoin and blockchain technology looks very tight and difficult to attack, but I believe one day there will be a program that can attack bitcoin so that it makes bitcoin worthless, information technology is always evolving and what we think is impossible today will become achievable in the future .

Is there also a possibility BTC can be hacked?

If it was possible then it will be already attacked and you might get heart attack Angry just kidding. Look there is no authority whom is control bitcoin so where the attacker attack. I don't have any technical knowledge but i understand this things.

Quote
How safety BTC security for you?

People use blockchain technology to secured their system or project. And bitcoin is builded on most advanced blockchain technology. And people use bitcoin for any type of security reason then why we need to think about its safety?

Just chill brother. You are using world most advanced technology.

Right. Bitcoin is not just an ordinary crypto coin because it is backed by a very secured blockchain technology. There are lot of attacks that have been reported but they all come out failed because the security is so tight that anyone who wish to control or hack will never be successful. Bitcoin has a unique characteristic which is too far from fiat because fiat alone can be steal and robbed, whereas bitcoin as long as the owner is responsible enough to secure his asset, then it will never be steal or robbed.

Although it has never happened before that the Bitcoin network has been attacked, it cannot be said that this is completely impossible, yes it is not impossible at all, but it is very difficult, this is impossible for individuals and requires large companies and huge financial capabilities to get 51% of the network hash rate, This is very difficult and costs a lot of money. So, in short, theoretically, yes, Bitcoin can be attacked, but in practice it is not possible because of the high cost and lack of economic feasibility.

Now Bitcoin and blockchain technology looks very tight and difficult to attack, but I believe one day there will be a program that can attack bitcoin so that it makes bitcoin worthless, information technology is always evolving and what we think is impossible today will become achievable in the future .

Maybe i could be attacked by people already right now, but they are not have enough balls to do that because the attackers will become the most wanted person in the world because the environment of bitcoin is already large, and who owns bitcoin right now is not only normal people but also people who has much power. So even it could be attack, i think no one brave enough to break this system.

Exactly. It may be technically possible to attack Bitcoin, but it's not feasible because the attacker will end up losing a lot of money in the process. Bitcoin has a huge hashrate backing it, so it would take millions (if not billions) of dollars upfront to perform a successful 51% attack. It's simply not worth it. China knows it can't destroy Bitcoin, so it's targeting miners and exchanges in order to prevent as much people from gaining access to it. This will have little to no effect over Bitcoin's prominence in the mainstream world. Kudos to Bitcoin's decentralized and censorship-resistant nature for making it the best sound money the world has ever seen. Just my opinion Smiley

I just remembered the poly network heist, one of the biggest heist in the history.

Is there also a possibility BTC can be hacked?
If it is, I bet every currency will start to declined.
How safety BTC security for you?

Want to know veterans answers.  Undecided

Why are you compare the Poly network with bitcoin ? Look at the market cap and price of both the coins and you will know why people invest in bitcoin. The reason is that bitcoin blockchain is designed in a way that there is almost zero chances that it can be exploited. On the other hand, Smart contracts like Poly etc can easily be hacked if thee is any bug left by the developers.

all can be attacked as technology develops, but in my opinion it is very difficult for scammers to attack bitcoin, because we can see from the beginning of the emergence of bitcoin, not a single scamer is able to randomize bitcoin, because bitcoin has extraordinary toughness, it is very difficult to break destroy it, especially now that the price of bitcoin is back high, it is certain that more and more people want to dive into bitcoin..

With the growing popularity of Bitcoin, the concerns around it are also increasing. There are a lot of tech systems being hacked these days, and because of that, you want to be more secure when choosing anything related to technology. The simple answer is no. If you have heard or seen news about Bitcoin hacking, what is being hacked is the Bitcoin wallet or the person who owns this wallet. Mostly, as a result of this, people lose their Bitcoins. However, Bitcoin itself is never compromised

It was a bit of a weird move at first glance. But if you consider that they're rolling out their own version of digital money (digital yuan) and that they would prefer their citizens to get first exposure from that rather than Bitcoin, and that they want to displace the US dollar hegemony and would rather see a basket of currencies including the yuan (and Bitcoin), then it all makes sense.

I'm sure they know that Chinese who already know how to use Bitcoin will go P2P or other routes. They're only protecting those who don't know enough from getting scammed by fraudulent/lazy/negligent exchanges.

So, How do you hack a technology that needs to be checked and verified by 100's of developers, before it is pushed out to full nodes to be accepted and replaced on their nodes? A hacker cannot simply make a change to the Bitcoin protocol, without the lead developer and his team scrutinizing it (Open source) and then committing these changes for peer review.... before it is released.  Wink

Bitcoin also have the highest amount of hashing power backing it, so a 51% attack is almost impossible. (Even if they succeed to gain more than 51% of the hashing power... it will not be profitable to do this for a long time, because it will cost a fortune) <== Imagine what the cost will be to have more hashing power than 49% of the world's Bitcoin miners.  Grin

There are less vulnerabilities to attack bitcoin if you compared them with other altcoins who have so many bugs in code and single abuse can hack million dollars of funds within few time but that's not the case with bitcoin as most probably the chances are of 51% attack which occurred on Bitcoin Cash in past days but for bitcoin that's not happening so it's very secured and that's why we prefer bitcoin.

Exactly. It's simply not worth attacking Bitcoin since the risk of loss is too high. Who'd want to waste millions (if not billions) of dollars just to perform a successful double-spending attack? As long as there's a huge number of miners (hashrate) supporting the Bitcoin blockchain, we should have nothing to worry about. Attacking Bitcoin would be similar to attacking "Fort Knox". Most hackers know this, so they attack other coins with a smaller hashrate. It'll be up to competing projects' developers and the community itself to adopt security mechanisms against 51% attacks. Ultimately, what matters is decentralization. As long as Bitcoin stays decentralized, it'll be virtually unstoppable. Just my thoughts Grin

@Abiky I think you don’t know about the 51% attack. Miners can control the majority of the computing power and interfere in the transaction process. They can reverse the completed transactions as well as prevent new transactions from gaining confirmations.

I’m sure people are attacking Bitcoin constantly. I wouldn’t expect anything less. There is such a massive amount of wealth held on the blockchain now, it would be almost irresponsible of the community not to have people constantly looking for new exploits. Whether or not they will be successful is another story. The L1 blockchain looks pretty secure to me.

Bitcoins exist in digital or intangible forms based online. Online sites are usually easy to hack and attack, especially Bitcoin also has many enemies such as banks, governments, fraudsters, and others. But apart from that all Bitcoins are safe and it is unlikely that the data can be hacked. So this will increase your trust in Bitcoin. Data leaks are rare, perhaps due to extra supervision and the fluctuating nature of cryptography, making it difficult for some parties.

For bitcoin hacking it is very difficult to happen because until now no hacker can hack the bitcoin network not they never try but the security implemented by the bitcoin network is very strong so for now it remains safe for us to use and this affects from centralization that there is no control so it is difficult to get into the bitcoin network, But hackers have another way to get into the bitcoin network is to create a lot of spam so that there are users who are deceived in that way, but for poly networks many weaknesses that we find so that it is easy to hack.

If we talk about bitcoin vulnirability or the network itself well we can say that this is not possible to happen, but with those unsecured or web wallets existing well provably they can find a exploit to hack those platform and stole bitcoin stored by many users there, that's why its good to use a hardware wallet to avoid any danger made by the act of hackers or any attempt of stealing your funds. I don't know much about poly network but I heard about that rumors to them but hopefully those are rumors only.

Your subject and body is saying different things.
The subject is said "Do you believe BTC can be attacked"
The body said "Do you believe BTC can be hacked"?

They are two different questions.
For the question of Attack. Bitcoin had been attacked, will be attacked and it's continously being attacked. But upon all the attacks the most severe will be 51% attack, which is not feasible.

Talking about Hack.
Bitcoin cannot be hacked because
1. It's on the blockchain
2. It's uses PoW
3. Open source protocol, where the hackers are also the securers of the network.

Change always happens sometimes changes happen very quickly, for now of course we never think whether bitcoin can be hacked, but I'm sure one day we will be easy to hack bitcoin with software or simple applications on smartphones.
But it won't be that easy and simple. We know bitcoin is a digital asset that cannot be attacked. and the hacking that took place was aimed only at bitcoin users who kept their privatekeys, not the bitcoin platforms that were attacked. Attacks are only individual and have no effect on the bitcoin system. Bitcoin has blockchain technology that cannot be attacked or deleted by anyone and it is permanent.

Miner of bitcoin supports their network from attackers. And there are millions of miners that are continuously mining bitcoin currency. And that's make the network secure. Miner's got their mining reward when every block mine. So, it is not easy to attack on bitcoin. And i think it is not possible to hack bitcoin network. Because it is a huge  network of computers that are working together.

Bitcoin is virtually impenetrable. The real issue lies on software wallets themselves. It's easy enough to steal Bitcoin from other people through a vulnerable software wallet than the network itself. That's where hardware wallets come in. But even with a hardware wallet, you could risk losing your Bitcoin if you're careless. It's all a matter of following the necessary security precautions, in order to stay safe against external attacks. I wouldn't worry about Bitcoin being "attacked" as long as there's a large hashrate (miners) backing it every step of the way. Just my thoughts Grin

Yes Bitcoin can be attack, because no computer or system is 100% secure even security devices such as firewall. Attackers are always ready to find weakness in a system with time or any mistakes by the system engineer, attacker will be able to to gain access to the system. Bitcoin is not 100% secure but it is safe for people to invest their money because of the way it is being designed, where every user have their own public and private key.

I just remembered the poly network heist, one of the biggest heist in the history.

Is there also a possibility BTC can be hacked?
If it is, I bet every currency will start to declined.
How safety BTC security for you?

Want to know veterans answers.  Undecided

Poly network was also a decentralized Finance (DeFi) which contains millions of cryptocurrencies and also trusted by crypto users, but the owner of the platform leaves a small vulnerability in its code which enabled the hacker named Mr. White Hat to take $610 million worth of cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin in the other hand is also a decentralized digital currency that uses a blockchain technology as a fundamental in-order to keep its system secure and safe which makes it harder to hack.
It is only possible to hack and steal bitcoins from the owners who refused or neglect the use of high security wallets.

Therefore, bitcoin's system is invulnerable or impossible to hack.

there is no smart contract on BTC so its almost nothing to be attacked on its code. its possible on the 2nd layer and those rBTC or wBTC which is close to being BTC itself since these are representation of real BTC in their network just like the Poly.

if OP meant any other attacks like Mining or SEC regulations, its happening already and non of it yet had succeed.

I believe that it is possible for an attack to happen, but extremely unlikely. Mempool floods are an attack that can be pulled off within the foreseeable future as said in a post before mine. a 51% attack is close to impossible on bitcoin, the hashrate needed to pull off an attack such as a 51% is tremendous, they're arent enough ASICs in production to be able to buy enough to do a 51% attack. Supercomputers are out of the picture as well, they are not very good at mining BTC. An attack is possible, but so unlikely, that I dont worry about it.

Two years ago I was in a conference connected with crypto and it was said that there had been no such a powerful computer that could destroy Bitcoin's blockchain yet, so I think that in terms of it we are in safety now. What comes to polynetwork, it is just a defi-project, so hacker found an vulnerability in its smart-contract and stole money. But there is no Bitcoin's smart-contract and if someone changes something in Bitcoin's code it just will not be accepted by other computers.

Hacking bitcoin smart contracts is impossible, because hackers have to break many blocks to be able to steal them. but what often happens is hacking of bitcoin wallets which usually occurs because of the negligence of the owner himself, and when that happens, it will be difficult to find it

Alright, but don’t you think that if Bitcoin was ever going to be hacked that it is something that would have happened yes back? Bitcoin has been around for over a decade now and we still haven’t seen anything or any news that says that Bitcoin was hacked.

For me, I don’t think such is going to happen, because if it was really going to happen then it should have happened in years back. Hackers would have even taking advantage of it if it was possible and they would have used it as a means for them to make lots of money from the market, but if they have not been able to do it then it’s not going to work. And don’t forget that Bitcoin is decentralized and doesn’t have a central authority that controls it.

when things like this continue to be thought about, it will continue to be an endless thought because on the other hand bitcoin is something with sophisticated technology that will even be very difficult to penetrate because it has a super high security system.
on the other hand in the mirror of the events that have happened everything will not be predictable and everything can happen.
but maybe bitcoin is an exception with a system that will not be easily broken by thieves, but when you say this to the wallet it will certainly be a different story.

For example, Bitcoin's whitepaper is 9 pages long. Poly's on the other hand is 41.
Yet it got hacked. It goes to buttress the fact that it's not the size of the dog that matters but the fight in the dog. Despite the few pages of its whitepaper, Bitcoin is able to knit all and anything that could cause it getting hacked.

Again, OP's question should make us realize that if it were possible to hack the Bitcoin network; Bitcoin haters would've long done that instead of the media attacks they heap on Bitcoin. As for if, "BTC can be attacked?", that attack has been ongoing for years with FUD here and there and the media amplifying the hatred. It's nothing new.

I think Bitcoin, itself, can't be hacked. I mean how would hacking Bitcoin benefit anyone really? Its value depends mainly on investors. I think what you are referring to is the blockchain, or storage devices, or maybe the company running Bitcoin. Well, all of those can be hacked alright, although the blockchain is almost impossible to hack because it's growing by the millisecond (every time someone makes a transaction) and there are contracts to sign here and there. You will need hundreds of supercomputers to at least replicate it, but why invest in those machines if you can simply invest in Bitcoin and gain 10x more profit (this is probably why no one has dared after all these years)?

Programatically, there's a chance however tiny for anything to happen which is why he's answer is a honourable one.

Machines and codes are one thing but they are not impregnable - nothing really is. We are all taking our chances that the probability of the network even outside of Bitcoin is one that's infinitesimally small and we all go about our lives assuming that's the case but we should never be blinded by the true fact that nothing is impossible.

so far we have never heard of any news about bitcoin being able and capable of being attacked, what you say is absolutely true that no one will be able to attack bitcoin until now, that the system developed by bitcoin really protects it from unwanted things.

but for individuals, I agree that it is possible for someone to take bitcoins from hacker attacks and steal from wallets because of the carelessness of the wallet holders themselves, so not the system.
as long as the bitcoin holder can't be tricked or do something that his wallet can finally be found out, it can be guaranteed that it will be safe.

I agree that bitcoin has proven that with the developed system it can continue to grow and bitcoin will be increasingly sought after and made into an increasingly attractive investment for investors.

It will remain safe if we are able to keep it as good as possible and as private as possible, this of course depends on the Bitcoin owner how they manage and remember private keys, passwords, emails,.... also never entrust the wallets to anyone except the own family.
If we look at it in the outline... Bitcoin will be difficult to hack and the security level of the blockchain is still strong, did we experience various kinds of hacks so far? I think it's still a small possibility till now.

many people are careless when there is a phishing case, they are a lot tempted by what is offered, and have the desire to try it, and finally their data can be stolen. for the next of kin, I think we need to tell one of them for the private key, sometimes we don't know what will happen to us, so that if left, our family can still access the assets

Agree, phising is most likely the main reason why people are getting hacked without their knowledge. This is because they advertise or make people believe that their website is legitimate, and the other reason why you've been hacked is because you didn't use 2FA or other security measures. Yes, if you fall victim to phishing, but if you enable 2FA, the hacker will have a much more difficult time accessing your accounts, which is why it is so important. Invest in a hard wallet as well, as this is the safest way to safeguard your account.

Bitcoin is incomparable to any coins now despite of their competence to manage their project in a better position. However, Bitcoin is Bitcoin which made something extraordinary use case and programming. I also believe that no one will try to hack Bitcoin as we know the suspect may not be in good condition at the very moment. Bitcoin is now partnership with country, banks, and business.

I'm not sure Bitcoin can be hacked, because Bitcoin uses a decentralized network, the possibility of Bitcoin being hacked could have been done by the creator himself.

Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency that uses cryptography to secure transactions. ... Blockchain technology and users' constant review of the system have made it difficult to hack bitcoins. Hackers can steal bitcoins by gaining access to bitcoin owners' digital wallets.

I just remembered the poly network heist, one of the biggest heist in the history.

Is there also a possibility BTC can be hacked?
If it is, I bet every currency will start to declined.
How safety BTC security for you?

Everything is possible especially if they will think lots of ways to attack on bitcoin. But, as far as I know, bitcoin didn't experience being hacked yet since they have made very strong security. But, I think can steal our assets in various ways maybe a form of fraud that is similar to Bitcoin wallet address so that they can steal the assets of anyone. But, bitcoin lasted a decade and look at how bitcoin always improve and increase it's price. For sure lots have tried on making out some exploit in terms of security but they failed to do so because of it's very strong security system. So I could say bitcoin network is more secure compare to those altcoin network.

yes, what you say is true and this is very shocking news as hackers have taken over $610 million worth of digital money from poly network.
poly network, which facilitates peer-to-peer token transactions, adds, stolen tokens, are transferred to multi-sign wallets, which are controlled by the platform and hackers.
but most of the digital money has been returned by hackers and only the $33 million stablecoin tether remains.

Of course, the question is also that we know that so far no one knows about poly networks, with information from them via Twitter that made poly networks famous and was there no other element in the hacking that took place? because why also hackers return the funds that have been taken?

Of course, it is clearly very different between bitcoin and poly network, it can be ascertained that until now and in the future it will be difficult to hack the bitcoin network. there is no need for excessive worry.

So I could say bitcoin network is more secure compare to those altcoin network.
If it's just to attack, obviously it's also not easy because we know that the bitcoin network is known to be reliable and the protections made so far have indeed been able to protect transactions that might be want to hacked.
What might happen is exchange networks that can be hacked, and most often of course, private wallet networks that are used by many people. but even then because most of the mistakes that have been made by themselves, not because of the system.

I agree with you it is not easy and there is no need to be afraid of being excessive because the system used by bitcoin is very different and has been tested so far and is able to protect against hackers who want to enter the bitcoin network.

I'm not sure Bitcoin can be hacked, because Bitcoin uses a decentralized network, the possibility of Bitcoin being hacked could have been done by the creator himself.

Not only because Bitcoin is decentralized, but also because there's a large hashrate backing the network every step of the way. The more miners join the system, the more impenetrable Bitcoin will be. Right now, it's extremely expensive to attack the BTC blockchain so hackers can either target users' wallets directly or simply switch to another cryptocurrency. Believe me, there are some wallets (mainly software wallets) that are quite vulnerable to attacks. If you're careless enough to protect your Bitcoin, a hacker could gain access to your private key and steal your Bitcoins. It's up to you to follow the necessary security precautions to avoid this from happening. At least, the core Bitcoin blockchain will survive for a long, long time. Just my thoughts Grin

how many bitcoins exist and I don't remember that there were any hacks and I think they shouldn't, because the bitcoin network is decentralized, it will be hard to hack, so I think we have nothing to worry about, and we haven't created enough computing power to crack bitcoin yet...but it's not for sure)

Well Andreas Antonopoulos likes to put it differently and I personally believe he is most likely right. He says that we can be sure that Bitcoin gets attacked all the time. Maybe not so much anymore these days but the reason that we believe it hasn't been attacked is that Bitcoin hasn't been successfully attacked yet. In Blockchain you either crack or it or you don't, it is a binary thing. If someone breaks into your house it might be different as you may be able to see some evidence afterwards even though the attack wasn't successful.

I believe in the security of Bitcoin that's why I joined it as a trader. It's useless if I join if I don't believe it myself. Bitcoin uses a code that cannot be changed arbitrarily by people, even hackers will find it difficult to do so. Bitcoin does not use smart contracts like a poly network. If you look at the previous few years there has never been a case of hacking data from Bitcoin, this makes me even more sure of it.

Polygon is new currency  but bitcoin is world first crypto-currency. It has been on the market for about 13 years. And there are tens of thousands of hacker teams trying to attack on it but they have never been able to hack it. And they couldn't figure out who made it. then why you think bitcoin can hack like Polygon..? it is not possible to hack Bitcoin.

I think, Bitcoin in the past and its long-term development and maintenance have demonstrated the best level of security.  It is invulnerable to any extent, which makes bitcoin so powerful and does wonders for financial freedom and store of value.  Even what Taproot brings will make bitcoin more secure and private.

No. I don't' think so, it is highly unlikely to happen.  Bitcoin is most decentralized and secure crypto currency, there is no incident of hacking attack on Bitcoin network since I started working in crypto back in 2017, though i heard lot of media reports of exchanges being hacked including Binance. It is considered most hack proof Block chain because it is network is constantly reviewed by entire network. thus, attacks on block chain are very  unlikely. The wallets where crypto currencies are held are still vulnerable to attacks.

When you say Bitcoin being hacked, do you mean an individuals bitcoin or you mean the bitcoin network itself getting hacked? If you mean the Bitcoin network is getting Hacked, then I don’t really think that’s going to be possible. So far we have already seen that there haven’t been a time when it was hacked.

The Bitcoin network is seen as one of the most secure platforms and technology there is. There’s nothing like being hacked or counterfeit currencies. The only way I can say Bitcoin can be hacked is an individual’s wallet being hacked, that’s the only thing or issue that you are going to face when making use of Bitcoin. But that, as well, can be avoided if you are very careful, because for hackers to be able to hack your wallet they must have gotten an information that will enable them to carry out such operation.

If the owner of bitcoin is confidently sharing his private keys even to his friends, then expect that your account will certainly be hacked just because of your own carelessness. As long as you are holding a valuable investment, always keep it safe and secured and just keep your private keys and password to yourself.

However, as far as i know when it comes to bitcoin network, there are no notable records that telling bitcoin had been hacked or attacked. It has a very strong security more secured than fiat, so if anyone tries to scam the network, he will only fail even how many attempts he'll make.

There is hacking of Bitcoin's wallet but not the network itself. Yes, and due to the unique codes that the Bitcoin network had used, that is certainly impossible unless if there is someone on the inside who will do it, but I don't think so and I'm not sure if he could do it alone. That is why we don't ever hear such news and with such proof of work, then we can say that Bitcoin is a special project and none of the others could ever compared to it even ETH.

I don't believe Bitcoin can be hacked, I think the Bitcoin network is very difficult to hack, until now Bitcoin is still safe and nothing has been hacked, it's just that some exchanges have been hacked to the detriment of its users. Other financial systems such as digital fiat is very easy to hack because it does not have a blockchain network like Bitcoin, the blockchain network will be adopted by conventional financial systems in the future. People's trust in Bitcoin is currently so high because it has been proven that Bitcoin investment is safe, the most important thing is how you store it in your wallet safely.

Is there also a possibility BTC can be hacked?
If it is, I bet every currency will start to declined.
How safety BTC security for you?

Want to know veterans answers.  Undecided

Lol, thats a funny question. Bitcoin has withstood the test of time.

Since it's implementation, its been studied by everyone around the world. Academics, researchers, geniuses beyond geniuses have not been able to find a way to hack Bitcoin. Not even the government and the bankers can do much of anything. And they have tried, desperately.

So no, at this point, I very very very much doubt that Bitcoin or even the very concept of Blockchain will ever be able to be hacked. Maybe when we reach the age of true quantum computers, there may be a threat. But we already know of these threats and have implemented ways to counter them fully.

Exactly. Bitcoin has been battle-tested over the years, so it's nearly impossible to "hack" it in any way. There's a large number of miners (hashing power) backing the network, so it would require the hacker to spend a lot of money to perform a successful attack. It's simply not worth it. While Bitcoin itself cannot be hacked, software wallets can. The attacker can simply target people in order to steal Bitcoins from a private key. The person will be responsible of securing his/her Bitcoin by following the necessary security precautions. What matters is that Bitcoin remains decentralized and censorship-resistant. As long as it stays that way, nothing will be able to stop it. Just my thoughts Grin

I don't think so.
It's decentralized.
And the only means by which that can happen is even a higher impossibility.
yes of course bitcoin is a decentralized platform which we know openly about bitcoin, right now is everywhere that bitcoin is under attack since the creation, awareness, and people that is attacking bitcoin is people of government most especially some Presidents and their cabinet's, so even currently bitcoin is still on attack except it a condition were your country is not disturbing people using bitcoin.

Bitcoin is based on blockchain technology, which is one of the most advanced and secured technologies now. The core design of blockchain comprises cryptographic technology, which is hard to hack. Therefore, I think that Bitcoins are safe from cyber attacks.

So far, I never heard of an incident where bitcoin was attacked; maybe because of the excellent technology behind it. But we cannot say that it won’t ever be attacked. If the hackers get through the loopholes, they can attack it anytime. But I see very little possibility of anything such happening.

I don't think it's possible because bitcoin is different from others and this has been proven for 10 years since bitcoin's inception until now there is no hacking except individuals who are not careful to store it and lose their bitcoins

Bitcoin has been running for years and remains the top 1 cryptocurrency until now and I have never heard of bitcoin being attacked. We all know a lot of scammers out there, so maybe it could happen, but until now no one has succeeded in attacking bitcoin because it is too difficult.

Exactly, Bitcoin gets attacked all the time, probably not so much as before! It's crazy to think that hackers, big corporations, and even governments didn't try to do something with Bitcoin... with all their man and computer power, crazy big funds! And Bitcoin is still here and alive! Now probably there are some enthusiasts who are still trying to hack Blockchain, but it's very difficult for them to do that... Theoretically, anything is possible if you are imaginative, but I really doubt that something will happen to Bitcoin in the near future!
