To be honest when the idea of using a new symbol for bitcoin started to come up with the increasing number of wallet using mBTC then I started to think that there should be one approved symbol or may not. If the developer wants to get input on the community then I think the result will be much more difficult to determine because every head will have his wish 1. However the main symbol of bitcoin is still quite appropriate to use on even the smallest unit of bitcoin without having to find a replacement, imo. If a new standard is to be found, then I hope it's not too far from the main symbol of bitcoin.

Satoshi still dont have yet an official symbol as a community or crypto enthusiast agreement and I like the concept that is being shown by the OP. Most commonly I saw this sign on Twitter, " 丰 " and it's very close to the OP's idea. I think that doesn't have relevant insight on the Satoshi, there should be a letter S in the symbol, or the $ sign is much better. However, there are widely adopted symbols and it looks like the OP symbol is relatively the same as the number one on the list. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Satoshi_(unit) By the way, thank you for sharing this.

And now that I thought about it, there really is no agreed symbol for Satoshis, even if they are the most basic unit of bitcoins it still is important. Just like cents is to a dollar, satoshi should be represented even more as a unit of value, since mBTC and other such denominations would be pretty hard to keep track of for the normal people.
The problem lies on the design. It will be hard to construct a design that fits with BTC design scheme since $ is already present.

-snip- especially with the trend of many wallets to use mBTC instead of BTC.
That will be the main consideration. Since bitcoin has other names for smaller units (mBTC, uBTC, sat), there will be other suggestions to create symbols for other units. Too many symbols will only confuse the user. I think there is no need to create a separate symbol for the smallest unit of the BTC coin. The international community should be able to write the sent amount in the Latin alphabet which is common for each keyboard and smartphone at present. I am completely satisfied with abbreviations such as "mBTC" (0.001 BTC or 100000 sat), "uBTC" (0.000001 BTC or 100 sat) and "sat". I know that in 2009 Satoshi Nakamoto personally designed the first logo for the Bitcoin client v0.1.0. He illustrated a golden circle with the letters "BC" and then embedded this ICO image to the EXE file. I heard that Satoshi did not name for the smallest division of a coin, but the community began to widely use the name "satoshi" after he disappeared in 2010. Although I admit that most people own only a part of BTC coin and more often transfer mBTCs.

I would love whatever symbol that may eventually be adopted for satoshi...to me it does not matter much anyway. Or maybe we can have like a contest for this and let the community decides. the symbol that can get the most votes can be declared winner...and there can even be some promotional attached to it like an airdrop for those who voted the winner. Anyway, just a humble suggestion form an insignificant like me.

I just see one that is not merged by the name satoshi and BTC coin. Why does BTC have a B symbol but not an S or $. I wonder if it was Satoshi's name or just the idea of a name or a memento to form this symbol. Can anyone give me an explanation of these problems? Or do you have an opinion on the satoshi name and the Bitcoin logo symbol?

Satoshi is the smallest unit of bitcoin and is still a core part of bitcoin. So far the satoshi is still using the bitcoin symbol in many online wallet but as bitcoin and its users get stronger, more and more wallets are starting to develop and adopt the use of satoshi after bitcoin itself. It is this need that requires developers to define the satoshi symbol so that wallet users can easily distinguish the bitcoin symbol and its unit. It doesn't matter if I'm wrong, this is my opinion.

The satoshi symbol is $. End of discussion. That could work, why not? its universally recognisable. The proposed symbol in the OP is far too abstract, It could be a symbol for anything really. I also ask the question, do we need a symbol for the decimal of a Bitcoin? BTC2.32407800 $is anyone ever going to say "two bitcoin and thirty two million, four hundred and seven thousand and eight hundred satoshi's" for example

This is a pretty easy solution to solve here being that since we already know what Satoshi looks like, then we should easily be able to create the symbol based off his likeliness. Below is a photo of Satoshi himself All jokes aside, I am a bit curious as to why there hasn't been a satoshi symbol out there, something that could be shown on the news and what not.

Bitcoin being as popular as it is really has a lot of eyes on it having different perspectives. Thus, a wide variety of questions and ideas comes to surface every now and then and as we see, there has been a lot of questions already with minimal answers in which we cannot even be aure of since there are no valid proof available. The same goes with this one, I have encountered such topic several times already circulating on the internet on several social media sites. But even with adding all the information, anyone's guess is just as good as anybody else's. Still though, it always is a good read when it is about BTC and satoshi. Be it conspiracies or the conversations he has had with different people.

That could work, why not? its universally recognisable. It was a joke, obviously, due to my expectation that 1 sat will someday cost $1. Of course and it's recognizable, but it's the dollar's symbol. It brings confusion and provides nothing. is anyone ever going to say "two bitcoin and thirty two million, four hundred and seven thousand and eight hundred satoshi's" for example No. That's why we have other units. In this case, though, saying “two point thirty two million and seven” is fine. Otherwise you could just say 2,324.7 mBTC.

what's the point of us making or predicting the Satoshi symbol, while Satoshi himself will not tell his whereabouts. Some of Satoshi's fans seemed so annoyed with what Satoshi did that his fans never met the person who created Bitcoin. Satoshi should announce his existence to the public so that everyone is proud to have Bitcoin because they can see people who are very instrumental to the people of the earth because with bitcoin the economy of the poor can get better and after that we will talk about a better Satoshi symbol.

1. It sort of looks like the Ethereum symbol. 2. That's a lot of strokes when trying to write down on paper. I saw someone tweet something like this: which I think makes a lot of sense. It's an ' s', with an ' @' (at) = sat. Only downside is that it doesn't look like a currency symbol at all lol. the cryptoartwork artist Lucho Poletti has already dedicated himself to this topic and has even drawn the satoshi symbol in one of his artworks called 'Super Satoshi' The best looking #satoshi symbol combines both $ and @ into one and reads out as "Sat". https://twitter.com/LuchoPoletti/status/1446463120206041098i think he has succeeded very well

Ah thats really great artwork, love the theme and colours, only thing is Satoshi is portrayed as a male figure, I always expect to see a gender neutral figure keeping a sense of anonymity.
So the Satoshi symbol at first glance is too much like an @ symbol but the combination of $@T actually works.

Waoow, I have never thought of this neither has it entered my mind the meaning and structure of Satoshi logo/symbol. This is making the view of bitcoin clearer as a product of the Asian continent, and maybe in some ways that could be the reason the Chinese government is fighting the adoption and use of bitcoin in that region. The symbol of Satoshi is in some form of combining three different chracters together, which includes an S, stroke (/) or T and @. Bringing these three all together is what makes up the symbol of Satoshi's logo. But, does it have a meaning in the crypto world or traditionally?
