Yes mate, I reckon that bitcoin will bring a revolutionary change in our world in the near future to come and bring equal opportunities even in a poor community. As expected bitcoin will soar high and it is indeed a coin in the future. But I don't think that it will he a global currency that will make people to get up to their fiat yet. There will be always some people that will choose fiat over crypto to be a form of payment wether it will be a salary or to buy things. Crypto will used as an online currency for online transactions and can be used to invest. But I know that things will change soon, hopefully just like we wanted.

It's impossible to happen. The central organization won't let the cryptocurrencies dominate the world. The government is always against something it cannot control nor manipulate. Hence, most government of different countries don't see crypto the way we do. They either see it as a threat or nothing at all. Despite all of the positive feedbacks about crypto and all of its advantages, there are just government officials and people, in general, that are close-minded. They are not open with the idea of having it or legalizing it.

In addition, each countries have the local currency of their own which they plan to boost. Which clearly indicates that the adoption of crypto into something big, particularly being a global currency is just another dream. Since not all countries are open to it and only a few recognize it.

We know that fiat cannot be replaced by cryptocurrency because of regulations from regulators that keep fiat in its current position. Yeah I would argue that bitcoin is already a global currency.  I am not saying that it's perfected yet, or that everyone around the globe is using it, but shit not every around the globe is using any currency all together period.  I guess the US dollar is the most widely used and accepted, but there's still plenty of places that don't accept it.  Of course bitcoin needs to continue block speed, but that will come in time IMO.

I confirm this theory, maybe many cryptocurrencies will die along the way, bitcoin will hardly fall due to its structure, probably has all the credentials (or almost) to become a global currency, it will be difficult for the various governments to tax the btc in the right and balanced way , we'll see what happens .. stay tuned

Global currency has got two meanings, a currency that can be used anywhere similar to the traditional fiat of that particular region. Another meaning is through adoption. So, in one way it is already a global currency. The next form is quite a difficult thing to achieve, for several reasons. The most common thing being the fear from governments around the world as they don't have control over the market.

That depends on what you mean by being a global currency. If by saying a global currency, you mean that every country around the world is going to declare Bitcoin a legal tender, then I don’t really think that’s going to happen. As for me I don’t really see the need for Bitcoin being declared a legal tender in all the countries before we can start seeing it as a global currency.

As long as people can have access to this currency from anywhere they are around the world, and you are also able to send and receive money from any corner of the world, then Bitcoin has been a global currency from the start.  There are no restrictions that are attached to making use of Bitcoin, no matter who you are and where you are from, you’re always free to have access to it. that’s what I call a global currency.

To be global currency not only can be done with famous or known by a lot of people or anything like that. But simple to use and maybe adoption from any kind of society, from rich to poor, from modern to traditional people, it still can be done with fiat. Will need really long time and maybe small chance to happen for crypto to be global currency. Maybe digital fiat will be used first.

Well, isn't Bitcoin a Global currency already? I mean, Borders pose no challenges whatsoever; Governments can't do much against it as it is accepted everywhere in the world including in countries that have criminalised its use such as China. Why shouldn't we consider Bitcoin as a Global Currency?

Becoming a Global currency is not easy, because cryptocurrencies have pros and cons as well as very fast price fluctuations. Of course it will take a lot of research to be done.

Whether or not cryptocurrency is a global currency will be determined by decisions in every government. Only a few accept bitcoins in full. and other governments only accept it as a commodity asset.

Bitcoin has a big advantage over other cryptocurrencies and even fiat currencies such as the US dollar or the euro, as it protects against inflation over time. Unlike other currencies, the supply of bitcoin tokens is limited. Therefore, its popularity and price will only increase over.

With high volatility, it could still become a global currency but not the type of currency that is widely used for daily transactions. As of now, the majority of cryptocurrencies are viewed as an asset or investment because people expect to gain profit when they buy it with fiat.

Also, government regulation is very vital, if some country does not regulate bitcoin, then most likely it will only be limited for use in some countries.

Well, I simply don't think it for now.
In fact, we can really see that only a few people had made use of their Bitcoin as a mode of payment as the majority consider this as a form of investment. Perhaps, we know most about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency for being a profitable investment, not in a form of currency where we can make use of it. Until it was not being accepted globally and banning still exists that can be impossible.

The question was whether cryptocurrency will be a global currency. I am not sure if OP was specifically referring to Bitcoin, but anyway. I am on par with Hayek's theory in that there will be many small currencies privately issued competing with each other. Now what other architecture than decentralized blockchains could make that competition even possible? None? In order for that competition to happen, everyone needs to have equal access (permissionless, neutral) to the tools to launch their own cryptocurrency I think that is the situation we are currently in and the overall crypto-ecosystem will keep thriving. Cryptocurrencies as a whole will build a currency system that dominates any other form of currency in my opinion.
