Scams are many by types. Some type of scam can be prevented easily by an awareness. Some type of scam could be prevented by checking websites like you mentioned but most of people don't know where to check. even sometimes those website grab money from scam project for approve them as legit. And some type of scams are totally unexpected! Tokensale successful but they scam for unknown reason! valuable coin will be delisted from exchange, A good project can crush & scam overnight, So not possible to prevent all scams.

I'm not surprised by this, you can see SP buy and sell according to the percentage in the smart contract.

It is possible if you do an intensive research about the project.

I just currently finished doing my research on one project just now and decided not to invest in it. Basically, I look for
their whitepaper, Partners (I'm looking for something big here), Developers and team that are actually showing their face much better if it is in a video AMA, and I also join their community eavesdropping their convo and looking for something shady.

So for me that's all, still haven't been scammed luckily.

They're clever and making it look like they're trustworthy at the beginning and that's why spotting them these days is hard. But don't settle for it because there are still ways of finding them out especially if you already have the experience of being scammed. You'll get to see how they're working for their brand and if there's something that's truly suspicious, you'll get to see what they're up to. In that case of seeing a red flag and bad sign, you just have to avoid it then and don't push for it even if you're really seeing the potential with them. Because that could be hype at the first place that you've seen.

As long as decentralization in crypto is concerned, it is difficult, Infact, it's impossible to get rid of scams amongst crypto projects, we can only try our best through research to discover those projects that are scam and avoid them as well as warn other to stay away from such projects.
The only way I feel we can atleast bring the level of scams amongst crypto projects very low is if there is a centralized body like a government that will be in charge of monitoring and approving crypto projects to be launched, this can be by giving the legit projects license to launch while the licenses are denied for the shady ones.

This is not only the problem of cryptocurrency but every where even in religious gatherings, both mosques and churches. Man and his greed is everywhere causing havoc to life and making the innocent ones lose money. Scams in crypto projects are more pronounced because they involve alot of cash and most of the projects do not have a physical address they can be traced to.

We can not avoid all scams because there are some projects looks genuine you will convince to invest the project but turn scam in the following days, so it's really difficult to detect a scam project but still do research at least less chances of getting scams.
