I would say it depends on what happened. Loved one died (have experienced that) or lovely girlfriend/wife left you (have experienced that). Generally in both cases time helps a lot. Drinking or drugs etc makes things just worse. For me finding Shaoling Kung Fu helped a lot. Also having good time with friends helped a lot. Ultimately, understanding that tears of sorrow and tears of joy are exactly the same helps!

Accept the fact that she's gone and you deserve better. Well you can't actually forget her like she never was in your life. But as time passes by you will be able to cope with the pain and when thoughts about her comes to your mind you won't feel much bad.

I agree with the find a hobby comment. If you put your focus and attention into learning something you've wanted to learn, you will make yourself better. Even though it may feel like your life has been possibly destroyed, you can gain strength and find something and someone better. I always think that if they don't want to be with you, they are not the right one!

In my opinion, forgetting it is rather difficult. we always see his reflection when we first close our eyes, we always remember him when we see something he likes, sometimes music venues, food days or other things, always remember him.

and my advice if you are dying to forget about it, focus on something that interests you more. such as hobbies, sports, gathering with family, and don't forget to worship, remember your god and pray that this feeling can disappear from you and you can forget it.
