May people says Bitcoin is far more centralized than Eth, yeah I can agree with it but Eth has more usecase than bitcoin look at smart contract for example its one of the most dominant advantage of Eth, look at how far eth build dapps to makes our life more easier, defi, nfts, P2E all started from eth. Maybe because they are the top 1 and 2 in the market that's why people keep comparing about it, but if we look closely we cannot really compare this two coins since we all know that bitcoin is hard to be take over by any alts even if its ethereum. i will answer with my version, why bitcoin is more popular than ethereum? because bitcoin is the first, many people more know bitcoin than ethereum, so the price and the popularity are high. i have an analogy, do you know neil amstrong? why he is so popular? because he is the first person that arrive in moon, and do you know  Buzz Aldrin? i think you dont. if you google that name, you will realize that  Buzz Aldrin are an astrounout that arrive in the moon after neil amstrong.

Neither I, I don't think it is good to compare the two top coins in cryptocurrency because both are already known for their valuable use and in helping people, the worth and the value of this token is different in terms of price but both are good for a long term investment. But as much as we don't want to make any comparison about the two top tokens we can't prevent other people to make their own analysis and comparison about Ethereum and Bitcoin, as long as we all knew the worth, the use cases of both crypto there is nothing to worry about other than the volatility of the crypto which is already a given characteristic.

That's why it continues to be discussed because these 2 coins have great dominance with the market situation, especially Bitcoin. I hold these 2 coins by assuming different functions because they have their own potential, Bitcoin is used for promising investments with highly decentralized coins due to limited supply. ethehrum with its smart contracts that make blockchain access better but doesn't look as sexy as an investment compared to bitcoin. in my opinion this is the factor that make Bitcoin and Etherum different

You forgot to mention that it's bitcoin that's first in the market so it has the edge for being chosen as a good long term hold. Holding both is really a good option if you can get to choose both of them. But if you're having a tight budget and you only have to choose one of them, it's best to have bitcoin. And when you have the extra money that you want to invest in ethereum then that's the second priority that you can make.

I'm glad there's a person who came well-intentionally and asked this excellent question. I hope the responses you'll get, will satisfy you. To me, it's a matter of opinions of what's better.

You see, newcomers look on a cryptocurrency that way and try to define its value superficially. Does it have these “smart contracts”? Is it better in terms of utility? Could this new feature it has make the difference?

However, they don't ask themselves what's the monetary policy of each cryptocurrency and to be honest, that's the only thing I judge when I evaluate a currency. Even if in “terms of utility” it's better than any other, what to do with it if an entity owns the majority of the coins? Or, what to do if this very entity can have a huge impact on the community or the market?

It's pretty clear that I'm taking part in a highly hierarchical system this way, which I'm strongly disagreed with. And this is what gives Bitcoin its value; the fact that it has the greatest monetary policy, humanity has ever witnessed.

I choose not to compare them in any way other than their monetary policy. Either way, they are two different innovations providing different solutions for different problems. The only common thing they share is that they're both currencies. They can must co-exist.

If I get you right you are saying that Bitcoin has value because there is not a single entity owning the majority of the coins. How do you derive that conclusion? What do you define as an entity? Could an entity be a sector as well, i.e. exchanges as one entity cooperating/colluding driving prices up and down? What about Tether's potential influence? Isn't that rather bad monetary policy than good monetary policy if the price can be affected by blockchain based money printing? I could imagine that the largest exchanges own a majority of the coins altogether. I could also imagine that they do meet up and have strategy talks.

I still see what you are saying here, but some question remain that could very well at least cast doubt to Bitcoin's capacity for sound monetary policy.

Bitcoin is a mother coin. I really don't want to compare Bitcoin with Ethereum. If you know the definition of decentralized then only Bitcoin is a truly decentralized cryptocurrency. ^ I consider comparing between gold and silver which is gold is the BTC and silver is the ETH.
Both are expensive right at this moment but always gold has a great advantage, the same goes as the BTC, the betterment was always in favor of BTC than the ETH so why would I choose ETH than BTC, or the option is why would I choose which is better if I can afford to buy them all. Exactly, and instead of people comparing them to who is best, why not invest them both if we are just about to invest in crypto. Even in mine head lies that question for how many years, and never had the right answer why. Some says it was the first crypto currency, so it is better than eth. As long as we can use both bitcoin and ethereum for our benefit, we will not compare both because both bitcoin and ethereum work well for us. Bitcoin and ethereum perform well for me and I still hold both coins for a short and long-term investment so I don't want to compare bitcoin and ethereum. People will also use bitcoin and ethereum to make more and more money and that is what we must do because bitcoin and ethereum will give us a big profit in the future.
