I appreciate everyone continuing to share their stories about how they found or heard of bitcoin here. As I think I’ve stated before, I’m really surprised to see how few people got in to bitcoin because of the technology behind it. That’s what got me reeled in, I studied it for an entire year before ever buying. Is there anyone here who got in to it solely for the technology behind it?
When I started investing in Bitcoin it wasn’t because of the technology behind it, and funny enough I never knew the difference between blockchain and Bitcoin. I thought that blockchain was another name for Bitcoin, so sometimes I usually make the mistake of calling Bitcoin blockchain. And my first investment in Bitcoin was $15, and then the price was around 100 bucks.

But, as time goes on I started to learn that blockchain was just a technology on its own that powers Bitcoin. While Bitcoin is the currency. So, I wouldn’t say that blockchain is the reason I started investing in Bitcoin, I started investing in Bitcoin because of Bitcoin itself and not for any other reason.

It's the same case.

I was trying to earn some money online so I would hang around these sites and then gamble my money in slots, which I ended up using a lot, lol, I didn't know much about it then, my friend joined the forum and then he introduced me to it, it definitely took some time to get used to everything and at the same time, I do remember having some problems with it. I even attempted downloading mining software onto the machines, but it didn't work, so I gradually learned how to do it.

A lot of people mention PTC sites, and various of scams that had popped up during that era. I'd also like to add, possibly one of the first experiences with cryptocurrencies, a cloud mining Ponzi, named Coinintellect, if I'm not mistaken. It supposedly a free plan, but required you to upgrade after one or two payouts.

I actually received both payments, the second one was almost lost, because they went bankrupt, so instead of BTC or PayPal payment, they paid via Dogecoin. The payout was valued a mere $5 payment, which back then, was 30.000 Doge. Stupid me sold them, I'd have a decent amount of money if I hadn't.

I got to know about Bitcoin while looking for a means to make income online. That was some years back, and it was in 2014 when I was searching online to find a job which I’ve been doing with my computer while at home. So, while I was making the research I got to a platform where they happened to offer me a job, so the payment methods that were listed for me to be able to receive my payment, there was Bitcoin listed on it.

But, it was something new for me so I never heard about it, I decided to make a research on Google about the word Bitcoin. That was how I got to learn a lot about it, it was something that I did for myself, and so far it has really been helpful to me. If I never knew about Bitcoin, Probably my life wouldn’t has been as it is now, because it really changed my life.

A very long time ago, PTC sites gave a lot of profit. When the price of Bitcoin was low, PTC sites would give satoshi and they were a means of earning for low income people. You do not have to deposit to earn on these sites.

But later some people started ponzi scheme business behind the name of PTC. They have snatched huge amount of money from foolish people in the name of revenue share. These were not actually PTCs, these were ponzi schemes.

Not quite exactly, PTC sites and faucets are paying the exact, or at least close, to what they were paying back then, but in terms of value. PTC sites would usually pay 1/10 of a cent, up to a single or two cents at maximum. In the past, those cents were the equivalent of a few hundred Satoshi, nowadays, you'd get 2-3 Satoshi at best.

For instance, Freebitco.in, probably the oldest still operational faucet, is currently paying a minimum 0.00000002 BTC per roll. A few years ago, I remember it paid a minimum of 800-1000 Satoshi per roll. Their value however was almost identical to what it is now. I was on the lucky side, since some of the BTC I had acquired through faucets was kept for quite a few years, and sold when BTC was actually worth something.

 Cry

man I felt very depressed just remembering the past when I was scammed by these PTC site scammers. I still remember the probox site where I earned more than 50$ a day all thanks to my pocket money, I invested in that scam site because I didn't know it was a ponzi scheme, I thought they were an advertising company, but I was mistaken. after months i found out that paypal had frozen their account because it accused them of being a ponzi scheme, gustavo gil peron (the scammer owner of the site) always came up with some excuse to continue to deceive people, i started to know about bitcoin because we ptc sites no longer accept paypal and they had added bitcoin so I wanted to know what bitcoin was to also use. that's when i started to know more about ponzi scheme and stopped using ptc sites.

Funny enough i discovered bitcoin about 6 years ago. But I never made the commitment to know about it. I remember a senior colleague telling me it will be the new currency and all i had in mind was a Ponzi scheme. But here i am today. Some regrets but what has happened has happened..

first I found out about bitcoin in 2017 through my sister, and at that time my sister said if you want to add money you can join the bounty project by creating a bitcointalk account and I created an account then I joined the project on bitcoin talk and at that time I wasn't sure I would make money but when the project was completed and the token distribution I was surprised that it could actually generate dollars.

Good that you only  use the forum for bounty purposes and not even investing Money inside  Grin

in 2017 ? meaning that same account that you are using?

My journey started almost same days as yours , but I started investing small amount in ICO back then(as ICO is also legit those days) and eventually joined Bounty of course till now.

Bitcoin is a great asset if I must write cause it has affect do many lives positively and had changed the lives of people that embraced it. Even though I discovered Bitcoin most recently, I vividly know that there is so much to benefit from it and soon I will become one of those people that Bitcoin had changed their lives.

When I heard about Bitcoin, there was so many positive comments about it. I could remember I bought it then but I selfishly lost almost all of my assets because of ignorance of the market. I tried to trade it to make more money but I was wrong cause my little knowledge about the market affected my thinking faculty and I lost almost all my holdings.

I discovered Bitcoin in 2018, a friend of mine came to my house and started talking about it... the truth at first I was a little skeptical, I did not believe much in that kind of thing, but the more I talked and the more I began to see, I liked it even more, so much so that I have a part invested in Bitcoin.

In 2013 and even if I'm not complaining I still feel I've been late to the party. If I only knew in 2009 the fun would have been so much greater, but it's still fine how it is. It's still not clear to me how I haven't found about it earlier since I'm an avid internet user. I suppose some things happen for a reason.

I believe mine was back in 2015 by a friend who wanted me to invest in some new online coin which he had already invested in some other once along with Bitcoin and even though I did invest some little amount then, I really didn't take it seriously too until 2017 shortly before the bull market I had to reaccess my wallet and started taking it seriously till date.

I had heard about Bitcoin around 2015 or so, but the topic didn't really catch my attention Undecided , until at university (2017) a very close friend told me about cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin and all this, at that moment he started calling me the attention, I investigated for a long time and I learned at that moment what was necessary to start in this world and over time little by little I learned many more things hehe and in a few weeks I entered bitcointalk... and here I am. wow you really have a long experience about bitcoin. and I think it's a valuable experience.

I myself in 2009 or 2010 or 2011 was still actively looking for change on the internet by managing a blog or playing pay per click. and whether in the following year or in what year I forget. there was once a Pay To click that was rewarded with bitcoins per click. and stupidly I did not trace what bitcoin is and have potential or not. i just missed it. and maybe I've exchanged bitcoin for a few dollars.
and I took a long break from the internet. but in 2017 or maybe 2018 I heard the term bitcoin again when I was accidentally on social media. and how surprised I was at the price of bitcoin at that time.

The first time I heard Bitcoin was the end of 2013 when there was a significant surge in price and a lot of economic and business news that provided information about Bitcoin, and the thing that made me interested was when there was a reporter interview with Bitcoin Miner and explained in detail about how Bitcoin worked, This increasingly makes me interested and read many online articles about Bitcoin.

at the beginning of knowing my bitcoin in 2017 before the pump happened at that time. and I don't really know him because he's still learning. at that time I was just looking for additional work, with bounty hunting, I got a lot of decent tokens to sell. unfortunately after that bitcoin dropped drastically and I didn't think to buy more, because the bubble sounded a lot at that time. until 2021 finally proved bitcoin worth investing in, but unfortunately I didn't invest when the price went down

I used to think of bitcoin as a joke for me before that bitcoin was impossible to convert into dollars but after my sister introduced bitcoin further I became more interested in bitcoin after I collected bitcoins then I just found out that bitcoin can really be exchanged for dollars.
