Anyone ever tried mining on ReactOS? My vague notion is it is it is supposed to be an open source Win XP replacement. The main appealing thing is it claims is that it is binary compatible with windows drivers. I have no idea if the ATI Catalyst and such will install and run on it though.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's
computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be
reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Most likely not

Most likely not Agreed - couldn't hurt to try 11.6, though. Impressive for <50Mb, even if it is still alpha quality.

Yes and it is not ready to replace your current desktop. Well I wouldn't need it to. It would only have to load the AMD drivers, and allow Afterburner to run. And a DOS command line window. And run Phoenix. If it did that, it's would be good enough for a mining machine.

The best thing that can happen here is that all the fanatics miners end up helping with that binary compatibility.

Very nice to see ReactOS mentioned here In theory all of that should work, however I think there will be some obstacles on the way which would need fixing. But, compared to Linux, ReactOS as a mining platform would be preferable due to native binary drivers compatibility.

I would understand it, if the Windows drivers were superior in any way - but as it seems you're limited to 4 GPUs there (might be a Windows limitation, not the driver though), but not on Linux.
Unless someone (ReactOS dev/enthusiast) runs a miner faster on ReactOS than on Windows, I doubt miners would switch.

it's more likely that react os would run slower due to the immature nature of the rest of the system however since it does seek binary compatibilty with windows it may be capable of running the current version of CCC. Howerver for me at least since there is no real usb support and very limited networking hardware support i'm sol for actually connecting it to test it otherwise i'd at least try it on an extra atom pc i have lying around(that would be cpu only but still interesting)

I would understand it, if the Windows drivers were superior in any way Usually they are far more superior than drivers for Linux. In fact, ATI is an example of a good company which cares about alternatives OSes with a small marketshare. Seriously, ReactOS is not ready (yet) for massive usage, and I doubt drivers would work right away. But as for mining, I think it could theoretically produce the best speed out there because it's "small and efficient" (an example to illustrate - we can have ReactOS boot up to desktop within a few seconds, when Windows takes minutes). Like, the best of Linux (custom optimizations, etc) and the best of Windows (native optimized drivers, better kernel).

Has anyone tried this yet?
All the opinions... no facts.
Love to hear if someone has tried with a recent ReactOS build.
