Gates of Olympus is one of the best Pragmatic slot games and when you start playing it will be hard to stop. However, I don't play it too much because, despite the good RTP, it has a high volatility. I forgot to post my reward here but I manage to get 2mbtc on my initial bet but I got carried away on betting more so I lose some of my profit in the process which I stop already before I lose everything. I preferred Blackjack reward over crazy time because the chance of winning on Blackjack is 50/50 compared to crazy time that is way lower because of the number of choices. There's nothing I can say because I also just tried to understand blackjack game, when you have 17 in your hands and the dealer holds 10, your potential is losing very big
The possibility of a dealer will get a good card on the second card and I will always ignore the double feature if the dealer holds 10 in the hand, this is based on my experience playing the last few weeks.

You are doing the right thing. 17 is the card that you need to stand because it's the safe zone and also hitting further will give you high chance of being busted because only 4 and below cards is your success hit. Never take an insurance especially if your card is not good because you might end up losing more if the dealer hand is not Blackjack while you got busted or stand low since you are paying half of your bet for insurance.
