On Youtube, there has been this website call mspro.io which has been offering bitcoin (BTC) and ethereum (ETH) holders the chance to double their holdings if they transfer their coins to the website. The website promises to send back double the amount.

I've transferred BTC but i haven't received my holdings back. How can i recover my BTC?

Scam

The site was created just some days ago, new sites are not to be trusted if compared to old sites that have become reputed. The site is a doubler, which means it is a scam site, any money you pay would be gone and that means you are scammed.

Even, doubler and other hyip sites are always scam sites. Avoid such sites.

Yes, it is a scam.

There have been many of these circulating on youtube.

To prevent being scammed, remember two things:

1) No one you don't know is going to give you money for free.

2) Never send money to anyone yourself first under the promise that they will return it to you with a profit, in this case double the amount.

You can report the website here https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en

Regarding the coins can be recovered, it's high likely you can't since Bitcoin transaction is irreversible and the person who own the private key is the scammer, not you or an exchange. The one who have access is the scammer, if you send to scammer address on legit centralized exchanges, there's a chance to recover it.

I did not bother to check that YouTube video because I know already that it is a scam and that people should avoid the site. But how did you know that a private key wallet is used or not? There are some wallet explorers that can be used to know if an address belongs to an exchange or not, but already existing address that the exchange has used in making transactions. The coin sent can not be reversed and to recover it would be very difficult, but if the money is so huge, he can consult Chainanalysis about it but money would be needed for Chainanalysis to make investigations. The best is to prevent than cure, because once the money is sent, it is likely it won't be recovered.

Never pay recovery service, sites that are promising you that they can recover the coin for you, they only want to scam you too. Also if the money is not huge like thousands or millions of dollars, never waste your time on small amount of money.

Unfortunately, you can't recover any of your hard earn BTC because as others have said, this is more likely a scam site. I didn't check the website, but it sounds like a bitcoin doubler. And we all know that it is a scam, many of us has fall for that trick before and we have warn people about it specially newbies. I guess you are late. But take this as a good lessons to learn here in crypto, don't just trust anyone who says that they are gong to double your bitcoin, because they won't.

<...>

The BTC address has received 6 "donations" (aggregate sum of 0.629 BTCs), some of which may be self-sends. Fortunately, the figure is low, but goes to show that people still fall for these things repeatedly:
https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1Q93PJvH4gngDFMJwd5UXyoeDffVozJYFG

The address was previously reported for being used in another giveaway scam, although there are no TXs from the dates it was reported on (early May) – likely a failed attempt:
https://www.bitcoinabuse.com/reports/1Q93PJvH4gngDFMJwd5UXyoeDffVozJYFG

The site is rather similar in format and plot to other known attempts:
Code:
https[colon]//elon-doubles[dot]com/giveaway/
https[colon]//google-daitou[dot]com/ua/tesla/
https[colon]//coinmarketgifts[dot]com
https[colon]//ftxdonations[dot]com
Same crap with a facelift and a slight change of call-to-action excuse. No refunds unfortunately ...

YouTube is to blame for that, they monitor hateful, sexist, copyright content well but it takes a long time to answer scam videos especially related to cryptocurrency.

Greed dominates beginners, especially if they found some positive comments at the bottom of the video, the number of views has reached a reasonable number and they has no technical knowledge.

  • The absence of the possibility to prosecute scammers made them continue to scam.
  • Dealing with money using bank cards and PayPal gives a relative safety with the possibility of "refunding" if problems or fraud occurred.

All investment offers bearing the word "doubler" are scams.

Is there anyway they can be reported? and the coins be recovered?

Not sure though you'll try to get multiple parties involved (of course it will cost money), and it should be worth the amount of money you're after. Unfortunately I have never heard of stories of victims recovering their money from this type of scam.
If it's a small amount, then just let it go and make this an important lesson.

This space for rent.

It's pretty simple math mate, double offer=scam. Ask yourself and get answers from inside, is there any money-making machine that could make your investment double within a short time. Even a legit business can't give you double profit, so how they will give this in a short time. This is a very old scam method around the crypto world. Don't believe any site or Youtubers who offer a double Ponzi scheme.

Is there anyway they can be reported? and the coins be recovered?

How did you end up investing in this without asking someone or doing some research before you invest?
There are no investment sites that will double your investment by just transferring your coins to their website they are most likely scam.

The weird thing is that how did you find this website? Do you own this doubler?

Because the website currently does not have any good backlinks only here and the LinkedIn and it's also posted on the BMF forum so how did you end up investing in this website?

Since the domain was registered on www.nic.ru you can report it there or contact email@nic.ru about this website to take down or ban this domain.

Adding this I review the source code a bit and the console is disabled he uses this script console-ban v3.2.0 and other protection scripts to avoid someone to open the console like right-clicking disable.
