I've been mining with my new S19j Pro (104th) unit for about 4 months. I build a soundproof box and placed it on the side of my house. Everything was running smoothly through the cold weather, but now that the the weather is hitting 75ºF+ it randomly throws:

Code:
2022-03-30 18:17:51 !!! reg crc error
2022-03-30 18:17:51 chain avg vol drop to 9.07
2022-03-30 18:17:51 Sweep error string = V:1.
2022-03-30 18:17:51 ERROR_POWER_LOST: pic check voltage drop
2022-03-30 18:17:51 stop_mining: pic check voltage drop
2022-03-30 18:17:51 uninit_temp_info
2022-03-30 18:17:51 do not read temp anymore...
2022-03-30 18:17:51 cancel thread
2022-03-30 18:17:51 cancel thread
2022-03-30 18:17:51 ****power off hashboard****
2022-03-30 18:17:51 temp monitor thread exit

Restarting the miner will get it back online, but it always goes down again after a while.

Troubleshooting I've done:
1) Upgraded the firmware from bitmain
2) Deconstructed inspected and carefully cleaned the unit with brush/vacuum/isopropyl alcohol

I'm in the Austin TX area, so the days are getting hotter, I notice that if the day is fairly cool, the miner stays online for 24 hours or more but as soon as the temperature tips up a bit, I get that error.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any recommendations to prevent continuous miner shutoffs?

-snip

The soundproof box might be restricting airflow if your pressures aren't balanced right, and/or raising ambient temp due to the airflow restriction, try it without the box and see if the issue persist. if it does watch the dashboard and find out what blade is overheating and we can go from there , I'm in Waco I know the struggle too with temp fights, I gave up on soundproofing stuff years ago due to this , thankfully we aren't in Houston fighting humidity too.
Open air+shade is the solution.

I've also got a merv-8 air filter on the intake side, which is surely cutting off some airflow too. It sits outside 24/7 on the side of my house, and that air filter needs to be changed every week because it gets so filthy. I've been thinking about taking it off and seeing how it does, I'm just worried it's going to get covered in dirt and pollen every couple of weeks.

Do you keep yours outside? How do you manage dust and pollen?

Garage I vent heat out one window and bring fresh air in another, the window screen filters worry-some things like leaves and bugs, I use my compressor to dust stuff once a month sometimes once every 2 months, dont get me wrong it still gets dusty but nothing crazy, I run 1u sxm2 and 2u servers out there, GPU rigs with deltas in enclosed cases , when it starts hitting 90+ I crack the garage 1 inch and lock the door rails plus a kingfan or hdx fan this means more frequent dusting but the garage wont be 110+ degrees like it would without. Just make sure the gears elevated and clean the floor periodically,  I've tried everything even garage ac but I don't feel like insulating and sealing the door just to keep it at 85-95 degrees anyways. (cooled garages are a losing battle down here lol unless you have lots of $$$)

Another effective solution down here is a mining shed but this means installing a pole (if you want it away from the house), I don't run but about 2-3kw of gear so don't see justification in the cost but screened windows mid height and an attic fan near the peak does wonders in the sheds here in Texas (airflow in one direction)
as long as they have good airflow around 95F things should operate fine.

We are getting snow in New Jersey.

As for a sound proof box 📦 in Texas very simple you are over heating.

How big is the opening where the filter is?

what are the dimensions of the filter you use?

https://www.homedepot.com/p/True-Blue-24-x-36-x-1-Budget-FRP-2-Washable-Filter-HD0124361/202195941

the link above is a merv 4 washable

you will improve air flow
you will save money on fliters
maybe the improved air flow will keep the unit cool enough.

The S19 104T is a very good, very stable machine. It is obviously caused by the overheating of the machine. From experience, you must use a negative pressure fan! Be sure to use a negative pressure fan! Be sure to use a negative pressure fan!

Hey! We are having the same exact issue with our miner - also in Austin!

When I saw the "pic check voltage drop issue" message on my miner, I thought it was related to voltage or electrical outlet. After reading ur forum I'm going to try to improve the airflow and reduce the temperature and see if that sticks.

I'd like to know - did it work for you? Or do you think its another issue as well?

Also, since you're in Austin would love to connect sometime and talk mining!

Thanks

In fact, you can use the solution of retrofitting the water cooling plate, which can bring a cool enough environment for the hash plate while reducing the noise.
