I wonder who else has access to old wallets Smiley
Unfortunately, I don't have one, I only have my wallet now and I'm grateful for that. But it is true that Bitcoin really helps us.  Cheesy

I also remembered that I had the seed words in my phone as a screenshot (crazy!) so I imported the wallet.
Btw, is true that all members said here, that it is risky to save your seeds screenshots on your mobile phone. because once the phone was lost or broken, it means that the data is also lost and we can lose our assets. I remember how I lose some asset because I save some data on my mobile phone. and don't have any backup on the printing

So I needed some funds to make up for a payment. I contacted three of my clients who were supposed to pay for some writing jobs but the payments were delayed. I was getting frantic when I remembered that one of my old Blockchain wallets. I started wondering if the wallet I hadn't used for years could have some valuable bitcoins. I also remembered that I had the seed words in my phone as a screenshot (crazy!) so I imported the wallet. Boy, you wouldn't believe how much I had in there. Not up to all the money I needed but enough to make a difference.

I wonder who else has access to old wallets Smiley
It's nice as you State it, and again bitcoin can give hope when some body is hopeless or lost hope totally, thing is that have coin that you saved and remember the seed phrase of the wallet. But i want to correct you if incase this your post is something you frame to have merit.no system that allows screen shot of seed phrase, when you screenshot the system will tell you that you can't screenshot from this platform, the only we do is to write it out or you snap it with camera with another system, with the two things i notice I'm not confidently believing that this is a live story

I have come across similar incident, but the amount isn't that big to make a difference. At some critical situation I searched and recovered $50. By that time it was really helpful, and myself too had the recovery seed in the form of screenshot. As different users mentioned it isn't good to have our recovery seed in the form of screenshot, but that was the easy way to have it stored in a separate folder than copying it on a notepad.

If this thing happens to me, it must not be Bitcoin that I would find but shitcoins, many of which must be airdropped for free. I doubt I would ever find some forgotten Bitcoin. I don't think I'd forget even a small amount of Bitcoin. Why, I made an inventory of all of them and which wallets they are stored. Especially now, I'm not keeping significant amounts of Bitcoin outside my hardware wallet. But, most of all, since I've only got a small amount, every Sat counts.

I did something similar to this recently. Unfortunately I am not doing great financially neither, I am doing fine thank god, but my nation has such a high inflation right now that people barely survive, so I am good compared to them.

But, I of course need money like any human in the world, even Jeff Bezos wants more money, so me wanting more shouldn't be a shock even though I am not starving or in poverty. I checked my poloniex which I haven't checked in many many years, and I had to try a lot and contact support and many other things, all of which turned out ot be absolutely nothing and had zero in it Cheesy So not all of these stories end up with a fairly tale ending.

You are lucky because firstly some wallet it is is not possible to screenshot the seed Phrase directly from the wallet but you were able to do that. You are lucky to get access to your old wallet when you were in the tight corner of need of money.

Lucky on the sense that you havent lost those screenshot or copy of your private keys specially if you do mind off on being one of the early fellas who do get involved with Bitcoin or altcoins into their early years

which it would be a good call if you do remember that you have some good amounts of coins in your wallet and then you suddenly remember on where you stored it and find out and able to access it.

It would really be a life changing scenario if you have keep lots of amounts plus having the increase of its value in years time.

Glad to hear bitcoin came through for you when you really needed it but i I would suggest doing a bit better or a job keeping track of your funds across the board. Also I don’t think I need to tell you that you shouldn’t keep your seed phrases saved anywhere except offline.

Without a doubt the OP got lucky, how many times we have heard of similar stories in which someone needed some money and they remember they had some bitcoin only to realize the wallet where they stored those bitcoins is no longer available for some reason or they have lost their seed words?

This is a very common scenario, so while I am happy for the OP since he was able to recover that bitcoin and pay up his debts, he needs to keep track of his bitcoin otherwise he may not be as lucky the next time something like this happens to him.

Yes, the OP is very lucky and because of the debt that makes him feel called to do it and remember or wish good luck.
because when in a position of stress by debt or need, and when that happens, it comes to mind to remember some wallets that haven't been used for a long time and try to recover them, and hope There are some bitcoins left behind or forgotten. And I've been in that position before and I did but unfortunately I haven't had any luck.

Quite a risky approach to screenshot your seed phrase but good thing that the BTC wallet came through for you when you needed it the most.

Congratulations, we here do not know exactly how many bitcoins you found, but you are lucky to have found them. To be honest, I don't think someone saved the phrases on their phone and luckily it hasn't been deleted or stolen by someone. Taking screenshots and storing them directly on your phone with an internet connection is risky, as no one will do this as an investor.

From your story, I think we can draw a lesson for those who want to sell their bitcoins, hold on the value of bitcoin can only increase and will reward those who hold.

risky or not depends on how to save the screenshot. Although saving in a text file will also be dangerous if you are not careful in saving the file. I even have a lot of screenshots and it's still safe as long as the security of the device is under my control.
I have several BTC wallets, some of which still have BTC and some even forgot the key.

I have this same experience since I'm saving my seed phrase using a screenshot of my phone. I have many wallets since 2015 that I'm using to claim faucets and I totally forgot it since I stop involving in cryptocurrency after I become busy with my studies and I don't remember where I save my seed phrase when I get back again in Bitcoin after many years of inactive. I'm just lucky to see the seed phrase screenshot when I'm transferring all the photos of my old phone to my computer to make a backup. The amount is not that huge but it's good enough since it almost equals to my 1 year salary at work.
That's probably huge, mate. Not all were given chances to have stored cryptos in their old wallet, so i must say you really are lucky. But if you are still doing some screenshots on your current wallet, i don't think that will be a good idea since you are putting your seed words in danger once other people can access your phone. Try to be more careful when it comes to your savings accounts, as you may not want to lost them in times when you badly needed funds because you're in trouble with your finances.

I believe one thing but what I am reading is making me doubt what I have believed.
When we speak about hacking or stealing anything like seed phrase that is screenshoted.
I have a question, does hackers go on searching everyone's phone to see screenshot that has seed phrase?
I think there should be some signs of bitcoin that will attract hackers.
What I mean in essence is that how will a hacker understand that he saved his seed phrase in screenshot before thinking about how to hack it?

Lucky for him, in the sense;

1. He didnt delete those screenshot
2. The phone hasnt reformatted
3. It wasnt seen by someone who holds the phone
4. Mobile malware

Once you do experience these things then say goodbye on your wallet
yet any PK exposed then expect on what would happen next.

Hackers won't search everyone's phone. They have their own targets which they have marked. The people who are targeted for hacking are those who are heavily involved in crypto and those who don't really care about their security. One of the easy targets to be hacked is those who have a lot of assets that are publicly disclosed with the addresses they have, this certainly attracts hackers to start stalking them and perform several methods to get into the victim's device. and some other hackers also use random methods to hack one of them by using malware, phishing and the like.

~snipe~
This explains why most hackers tends to target mostly exchanges but the success is often limited to resources and having an insider to do the other parts of job. Malware and Phishing actually works too and another is using brute force. Where the hacker gets to send several passwords or seeds until it eventually searches out the actual one. All this becomes the sole cause of the attention you draw to yourself in holding large funds within a single wallet address. You can generate a new address each time you want to receive funds and it all leads to a single wallet so, why not do that and stay off the hooks of having to much!

Could never happen to me as have always kept a close eye on all my stashes, save the few faucet sites way back when I didn't know what I was doing or never had a wallet. I do often think back on all those dust -- back when minimum withdraws were still $10 or something and BTC wasn't even $1000. Pretty depressing fantasising.

I do have some alt wallets thrown out I'll never recover. Proper deleted and wiped HDD in a sordid spring cleaning exercise years ago. One or two make me shed a tear heh.
