How do you guys test or "function check" the control boards? Are there any documents out there that cover this? I've looked but haven't come across anything yet.

There is no test function tool you can use for antminer controller the guide share above is talking about Beaglebone which is the old controller for s3/s5/s7 units.

You can manually test the function of the unit why not follow this troubleshoot below

Or get an idea from this link below on how to connect the control board through pinouts(RX, TX and GND)
