Is crypto the final stage in the evolution of money?

I dont think that cryptocurrency is a final stage of evolution. I believe that thousand, maybe ten thousand years will pass or something will happen with the Earth, when people would realize there is something more valuable than money.

Has anyone seen movie "In time"? There, people use time or life span as a payment method. Since we havent created a potion immortality, time might be one of future or final stage of evolution of money.

I saw the movie, the time zone they've had there is already a vulnerability and anyone can snatch time from someone else wrist. Seem not a very possible way to implement currency but sure TIME is valuable. We can never turn back time so that's very valuable. In the movie, anyone dies when thier time is over.

As far as I know, they have plans for TIME to be the fee for employees, I have no idea what happen to this project anymore.

I'm not gonna be around when something will exist to become a currency but maybe Elon can shower us some meteorites on earth and be it a currency one day.

I meant time just as an example. But what I wanted to say, is that something that is ending, irreplaceable, something that is impossible to produce or replace, will be the final stage of evolution of money. Cryptocurrency can not be its final stage. At first we have food, beads, then gold, later we had paper money, followed by electronic fiat, then we have crypto. Payment methods will keep evolving.

No, I think as time goes on money will always change it’s medium. It first started off with things such as blankets and beads to silver and gold and continued on to current days money such as coins and paper notes. Now we are reaching the next revolution of money which is cryptocurrency/bitcoin. Truth be told I’m not 100% sure bitcoin will be the “winning” currency, there might be one that’s created which is much better. Only time will tell I suppose.

More inventions may come after cryptocurrencies or development will be made more in crypto as the technology become more efficient to everyone. Once everyone can have access of crypto in their area the easier for bitcoin or cryptocurrencies to be use by many. It may not be the final stage but it may last longer due to the wide ideas that it can be used by many even in different sectors or projects.

Maybe it could be the final stage of the evolution of money, but not necessarily of monetary transactions, in a sense that in the future money as a concept could become outdated. In a post-scarcity world (and I know we are not even close rn) money as such would lose meaning. Let's not forget that money was a concept that developed over time in human evolution, so it wouldn't be a far stretch to think that we could once more hit that point in the cycle.

i think working with what we have and can see will be the best advisable option for now, we have bitcoin which have proved outstanding amidst other crypto, i believe with time on a gradual process the world will all get used to the system and fiat note may not be totally eradicated for now, i also see the metaverse coming up with a higher technology with bitcoin and payment system and we cant fully predict what will happen in the nearest future but for now, bitcoin is moving in a faster pace to replace the fiat notes gradually and it may take a while to fully stand, the other way is the metaverse but we cant conclude anything about that not until its fully launched.

It's not only about bitcoin but it's the whole crypto market. The op is asking if there will be a next big thing apart from crypto, I don't think that was metaverse because the metaverse projects that we see, still have a relation with cryptos and metaverse are not a payment method like crypto but it's only just a new technology.

Since the beginning of the internet, we have seen many digital payment methods and the latest would be the cryptos. Cryptos are for sure the last thing that we are going to see but before we think of any other things, we need to focus first on crypto if it will ever be accepted as a main currency or a fiat replacement.

We cannot say that cryptocurrency is the end of the evolution of money. We can't imagine how advanced the technology will be in the future. However, until now cryptocurrency is still valid as a digital currency and can be used to make buying and selling goods. And crypto has the potential to replace fiat too. It's just that until now it is not easy to apply it to all corners of the region. Crypto has a place digitally, but not everyone can use digital well, citing network limitations or the tools they use.

We are in 2022 right now, I am sure that there must be some old people everywhere around the world, and some tribes that can't have access to smartphones but in the end if those people are absent from a whole network, that could be fine. Just because there were many people who couldn't use online world, didn't mean online world didn't grew to nearly everywhere around the world.

If we could cover even just 90% of the world, which I am sure could access these places, then I think we will be doing fine. Doesn't mean it will become like that, but in the end the possibility is out there. I feel like maybe 10% of the people ever used it, which means there is a lot of room to grow.

We have not even seen the best of it so yes, this could be the final stage in our lifetime. But with out grand kids or further than that, we don't know.
There might be a new genius born looking for new ways with how we could transact things in a faster, safer, and private way.
I wish there is, there should be. Growth of mankind will never stop and there should be new ideas to come out. We cannot stop with one and be content about it, there will be flaws someday and it should be fixed.

I think we will be wired to the grid. Or chipped in the head. Maybe in under 100 years time. The lure will be longer life time.  And time of life will be the currency.

Not my idea there was a movie about it. In fact I am blending that movie and Johnny Nemonic and Matrix. I kind of think we are heading there.

An interesting question and a lot of interesting answers! First of all, crypto has not conquered the world yet, I think it will be many years before that happens, some would probably say if it happens at all! My opinion is that it will happen one day and from that day we can say that crypto has started a new stage in evolution! This crypto phase will probably last a very long time, I believe it will outlive many of us... who knows what could happen in the distant future, maybe one-day people will raise their awareness and realize that people don't need money at all!

Worry less, why over think this, enjoy the betterment and merits of Cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin.
Should be thinking if how you should let more people be aware about Cryptocurrency and Utilize it very well.
I think we have about fifty years if not 100 to mine the last Bitcoin.
But definitely, every thing good has it's bad side, just as the local fiat downed Gold, something else will come up to make it worthless, but before that enjoy the moment.

Without a doubt I think bitcoin is the next stage in the development of money as a tool for trade, however I think it would be a mistake to think it is the final stage in the development of money, technology is always moving forward and even if I cannot imagine a better form of money than bitcoin that does not mean that someone else cannot do exactly that in the future and create a form of money which is many times better than what we have now.

No doubt with bitcoin is the next stage in the development money but depending with smart and skill have by some trader and investor how ability earn profit with bitcoin, I think have many trader and investor made mistake with bitcoin investing and do not know about bitcoin as worth way how evolution of money management by panic selling and panic buying when getting bitcoin on the top price. If we do consider out fast pace progress in terms of technology then we would really be presuming that there might be something more better than Bitcoin in the future.Actually if we do look around

there are lots of coins now which is far more better than bitcoin in terms of technical aspects but still people do mainly support Bitcoin because this is the father of all crypto.

what you are pointing is specified for Bitcoin only but what about Altcoins? there are uses in the future that bitcoin will be backed up by alts specially when congestion happens mostly .

For now crypto seems the higher end of technology but as time passes by, technology evolves.  What seems the latest today may be obsolete in the next 5 decades.  Development, improvement, and evolution.  Once this kind of technology is improved or perfected they might find another name for it.  Same way how the terms metaverse and NFT are created.  So I think, crypto isn't the final stage of money evolution.

There's nothing finite when it comes to innovation. If there's something better upcoming, whatever it will be, it can overcome and show that they deserve to be the one being adopted and used by people, but until then, it's still crypto who has the upper hand. With that, I mean Bitcoin. It has changed so many financial impacts on the economy, and many people have changed lives because of it for the better.

So it may not be right away, but innovation always has room for the world.
