Have not seen it mentioned here yet at a quick (mobile) google search did not turn up a thread about them.
Silly, pointless and by their own words moronic. And if I had a spare BTC would be in my closet.

With that being said, are things like this good for BTC in general or so they seem like cheap marketing stunts.
I think in general they are good, but I can really see someone thinking the other way and asking why are cheap marketing stunts needed if BTC so good and useful.

I can't imagine that anyone will spend 1 BTC on these shoes.  Sure, it's a silly idea and I like that someone is doing it, but the price makes it seem almost as if it's a joke.  I don't think people who can amass tens of thousands of dollars in savings are the type of people to blow $40K on a pair of shoes that is probably lower quality than whatever you can get for $20 at Walmart.  I'm sure someone out there is high enough and with enough BTC in their wallet that they think purchasing is a good idea.  This is exactly the sort of thing you'd expect to see in a now bankrupt former crypto millionaire's closet.  I doubt even Spencer Dinwiddie himself would drop 1 BTC on these.  They could have at least set a decent price.  Maybe 0.05 BTC would get some sales...

While that's cool and all, the price tho. I wouldn't even pay 1/10 of that even on a designer sneaker that I absolutely want. Also, this is pretty much just a huge "please $5 wrench attack my ass". Absolutely a huge no no.

Didn't think of the wrench thing, but at that point I don't see it as any different then wearing some other stupid expensive thing. To a certain extent people know you have money if your suit is $7500 your watch is $15000 your shoes are $8000 anyway and so on....

The good news is that they’re only making four pairs of these trainers. Come to think of it, if people spend bags of crypto for a pointless NFT, I’m pretty sure they’ll find at least one buyer for these 1 BTC priced trainers…

We have to bear in mind the baddies goodies it brings alongside to the table: outdated phone 3G to sync the data on to the display, as well as, as per their words, a full node and an "extremely slow mining rig" (a screen shot displays 2.769MH/s, being the dot a decimal separator). This latter comes in the shoebox (it didn't fit on the trainer I guess).

It is far better than NFTs, at least it has a real use of technology.

Since it is a fancy item so there will be no shortage of buyers.
Hopefully, this will catch the eye of celebrities and someone buys a pair as a hobby.

But, I think its price should be kept low. Prices have become too high for utilities. Anyway, I am very happy with their efforts. They are creating some joy in the bearish moment Smiley, what's worse!

You or me are not their target audience, this is the product for millionaire/billionaire Bitcoin bros.

I don't see how some expensive glowing shoes are relevant in the grand scheme of things. Some rich dude is going to wear them once to a party with other rich dudes, they may or may not laugh at him and that will be it.

There's quite a difference though. Kidnapping you for money that's likely needed to be withdrawn from the bank, vs kidnapping you and hitting you with a wrench until you hand over your wallet's private keys. The latter being far more viable and "safe" for the attacker.

4 pairs - this makes them a collectable, not something anyone would actually wear
(in public). I would say with only 4 pairs available some serious collector would consider
this as a possible investment.

The important question is, in 5, 10 or 20 years when you consider selling them will you
at least get your money back?

Not much fan of these things where you would spend such amounts on buying just one pair of shoes only. But yes there are people who are crazy about shoes and can spend any amount on them even in btc also.

As said by @DdmrDdmr it's limited edition of four pair only he could then turn it into NFT and sell it for much higher price  Grin

I bought a lot of crazy sneakers throughout the years, even sell them for higher prices and I will say it's a good investments specially like 5 years ago. People are willing to buy good amount of money for a limited sneakers specially with what they call "collab" with famous and upcoming designers.

So at the back of my mind, there could be sneaker collectors who are into bitcoin that might be willing to spend this kind of money and have this as their collections, just saying.

How many people know the difference between a $15 000 watch and a $150 watch, or a $7500 suit and a $750 suit?  I wouldn’t compare it to someone drawing attention to themselves using clothes/shoes to promote Bitcoin. But as I commented before in another thread, some people may be able to afford to wear such things given their location or the fact that they are surrounded by bodyguards - yet most should not draw attention to themselves in this way.

outdated phone 3G to sync the data on to the display,
Not sure if all of the blog posts that I've just read were inaccurate or not, but on their "website", they've labeled it with a signal strength of LTE.

a full node and an "extremely slow mining rig" (a screen shot displays 2.769MH/s, being the dot a decimal separator). This latter comes in the shoebox (it didn't fit on the trainer I guess).
The only thing that's missing from this ridiculous product or rather huge shoebox is a mini lightning ATM Cheesy

The important question is, in 5, 10 or 20 years when you consider selling them will you
at least get your money back?
Unlike other collectible items in the community, I don't think this one is going to remain a rare product for a very long time [unfortunately]!

Btw, found a "similar[ish] product [since 2019 but not yet released]" without the BTCitcoin-related stuff.

The who.is for the domain shows it was first registered on January 6th of this year. I wonder if it has had any legitimate sales in the past three months.

It is interesting to see these physical products that pull some cryptocurrency related data to display as "fashion". These shoes in particular remind me of the much-ridiculed necklace that showed NFTs on an updating display and represent an interesting trend during public adoption of cryptocurrencies in general.

Buying expensive sneakers is a thing in the African-American culture.I don't get it.I guess that bragging with your expensive sneakers(or bragging with luxurious stuff in general) is a really important part of the African-American culture. Some rapper is going to buy such sneakers.Rappers have lots of money and they aren't particularly smart(maybe most of them aren't).
The website looks ridiculous.I can't even read some of the titles, due to the absurd design of the letters.
Maybe this really is a joke.Putting a BTC node in sneakers simply doesn't seem serious.Or maybe it isn't a joke.
The world is full of dumb people, willing to spend lots of money for dumb shit.

4 pairs - this makes them a collectable, not something anyone would actually wear
(in public). I would say with only 4 pairs available some serious collector would consider
this as a possible investment.

The important question is, in 5, 10 or 20 years when you consider selling them will you
at least get your money back?

It's possible if Bitcoin, the company and athlete behind this snickers become far more popular. But AFAIK Bitrefill and TNSID are small company while many government hostile against Bitcoin, so IMO it's unlikely.

Bitrefill is "small" in terms of Apple and Google. But very large in the BTC world: https://www.bitrefill.com/investors/?hl=en
Spencer Dinwiddie (TNSID) is big in the NBA, beyond that it's tough to really gauge the size of what he invests in unless he tells people.
