Request for Nigeria local board

The request for local board for Nigerians and Africans extension is not unconnected to the activeness and lofty height of contributions many Nigerians users of Bitcoin talk have added to the forum in past and presently.

A local board will give a sense of belonging and self fulfilment to the Nigerian comity on the forum and new users when they come in and discover they have a place to identify with even as beginner's.  And more.

The Nigerian community on the forum is growing steadily which is why we deem it fit we need a local board for carrying out discussion that concerns the adoption of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general on the forum. A quick read through started threads on the forum are Nigeria related discussion raising on the forum and this topic are been pitched to the wrong audience since not many know about the activities ongoing in the country. Unlike the Western country that we all can have an idea on any topic raised, that which is concerning countries like Nigeria will always be flooded with myopic views or totally out of context.

I strongly believe we'll get our wish one day, at first it seems like getting the local thread some attention was impossible but we achieved that and even got it to be pinned and from the recent stats, it's one of the active locals even without having a board. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency adoption is growing steadily in the country and as this forum is the center of the knowledge, people will always be draw to it and having a boards to help guide them with the little knowledge we have acquired as individuals would be great and productive. We'll keep waiting patiently until @Theymos hears our cry or others like (@Cyrus @mprep @hilariousandco @Welsh etc) with some advantage over the average user, pick interest in our appeal to strengthen it.

Rather than waiting patiently, can Theymos or the other moderators or admins you mentioned, tell us the criteria for having a local board. If you meet the criteria, we will be expectant and if we don't meet the criteria, we'll keep mute and work hard to meet the said criteria. Tbh, I think this is the best approach to our request for a local board.

While it would be interesting to know that info, I don't think that they will tell you some specific numbers because in that case local communities might start stat padding in order to reach the criteria. If your thread has such activity 5-6 years ago you would probably already have your own local board, but situation is different now and forum staff is very reluctant to add new ones due constantly decreasing activity on majority of other local boards.

Why not try to send him a direct message through private messages?
As far as I know, Themos has never released clear criteria for adding a new local board.
This probably means that it's his personal assessment, I guess based on the activity, the number of local members and more.

That would definitely be some of the criteria no doubt about that, but the admins would never make any set in stone criteria on how to get a local board request accepted, infact maybe there is no hard-and-fast criteria on that, the forum does not work with rigid rules for example, and that is somewhat the case in other aspects and areas of the forum; issues are handled in the forum on the basis of a lot of things, which are flexible, and subject to different interpretations, this keeps things open and interesting. Thus sending a pm to the admin to ask about that would yield nothing.

Having said that, we should just continue enjoying the forum, discussing about Bitcoin and other whatnots, keep the local thread active and alive with quality discussions, bump our request once in a while and wait for a response, i believe we would get one somewhere along the line, i hope it would turn out to be a positive one.

If those be the criteria, I think Nigerians here have a pass mark. We beat some local board in terms of that. To be frank, giving Nigeria a local board even goes beyond the mere gesture of a local board. It transcends into continental which by extension will mean that Africa is now fully recognized on this forum.

Having said that, we should just continue enjoying the forum, discussing about Bitcoin and other whatnots, keep the local thread active and alive with quality discussions, bump our request once in a while and wait for a response, i believe we would get one somewhere along the line, i hope it would turn out to be a positive one.

But of course, we shall continue to do all that while watch paint dry so to say.
