Hello, my name is Aécio. I am from Brazil. My cell phone was stolen this week. I need some help. I have Bitcoins stored in my Trust Wallet. The person who stole it couldn't access it, because he didn't have my touch id. But, I had it in addition to the main account, which I left empty so that if someone stole my phone, they would think there was nothing there.

However, I only remember the 12 words of the main account. Of my other wallets, I lost, because along with the cell phone, my laptop was stolen. On my account statement, it has the transactions I made for my accounts. I wonder if we can recover my account through the bitcoin remittance keys. I have 17 bitcoins.

Anyone help me?

You can follow this guide on your new device to recover your wallet

https://community.trustwallet.com/t/how-to-restore-a-multi-coin-wallet/43

It's an easy 5 step process. And don't respond to private messages, you will be contacted by plenty of scammers after this post. Just follow this above guide on a safe device, and you are good.

If I got you correctly, you had two wallets and you only have the seed phrase of the empty wallet. If so, there's nothing you can do.
For recovering your wallet, you need its seed phrase (a series of 12 words)

On my account statement, it has the transactions I made for my accounts. I wonder if we can recover my account through the bitcoin remittance keys.
Do you mean transaction ID of the deposits you made to your wallet?
No. As said, without the seed phrase, you can do nothing.

You have more than one account on trust wallet and but you only backup the recovery words that was empty, what kind of bad security idea did you follow. You have up to 17 bitcoin but you couldn't afford to get a hardware wallet, this is bad news and sad news for you because you cant have access to your bitcoins again except you have the recovery phrase where your bitcoin was received on its address.

This is the message from Trust wallet when generating new recovery words, always take caution serious when you see one on your screen.

I think his main account does have a balance. It's an additional wallet that is/was empty.
But, I had it in addition to the main account, which I left empty so that if someone stole my phone, they would think there was nothing there.

And he does have 12 word seed for the main account
However, I only remember the 12 words of the main account.

OP should stick with TrustWallet's guide on how to recover. It's a very friendly guide.
That's all to this situation imo

My main account is only 0.6 btc. My second account that held the other bitcoins. I tried using FinderOuter, but I can't remember any words. But I have the bitcoin shipping key for the account. Is there nothing I can do about it? I lost my laptop in the robbery, so I lost the words.

I tried using FinderOuter, but I can't remember any words.
The tool can brute-force your seed phrase if you have missed some words.
Since you don't know any of the words, that's not possible.

Is there nothing I can do about it? I lost my laptop in the robbery, so I lost the words.
No, there is no way to recover the wallet if you don't have the seed phrase.
You can only recover the wallet you have its seed phrase.

As advised above, if you have backed up the 12 words for the primary account, you should import it on a new device and transfer that balance to a new cold storage wallet ASAP. However, the chance of getting back that second account is slim, don't waste your time with online scammers that may want to help you unless you have wallet.dat which in this case you don't and that also require brute force.

That sucks OP  Cry

No, this info isn't enough to recover from your "second" account(as other users have already pointed it out).

Your best bet would be the police or a good private investigator. There's still a chance of finding your stolen goods if you act quickly. The first 48 hours are VERY crucial in such cases. Good luck!

I regret what happened to Aécio, but this story is a perfect illustration of how not to do it. I hope this serves as a lesson to current and future readers of this thread.

I see the following mistakes made by the author:
- didn't save seed-phrase backups.
- kept bitcoin on the phone's wallet of the, which he used constantly.
- wallets were on devices that are valuable in themselves and attract thieves (phone and laptop).

I hope you manage to restore access to your wallets as soon as possible, because thieves can do it too, before you.

I have 17 bitcoins.
How the hell you have 17 bitcoin in a mobile wallet or save them in a laptop not having the proper backup of the seed or backup file. It's going to be a very costly price you are going to pay.

I don't know how trust wallet functions but if you have 12 word seed then you can try with Electrum.

But I have the bitcoin shipping key for the account.
What is a shipping key?

I think you are confusing us. You need to be more specific like how many wallets you are talking about, which software you had etc.

Trustwallet gives you a 12-word BIP39 seed phrase and that's compatible with electrum.
From my understating, OP had two different wallets and now he/she has no access to the seed phrase of the one holding 17 BTC.

What is a shipping key?
I feel he/she is referring to transaction ID of the deposit made to the wallet.

This is what I also believe but I think the OP can only restore the main account since he claims on the OP page to remember the seeds phrase but for the second account which had a huge fund, I don't see him restoring it since he doesn't remember to save the seeds phrase.

What is a shipping key?
I feel he/she is referring to transaction ID of the deposit made to the wallet.
The shipping key i know is for send suite but according to the OP knowledge, it could be transaction ID.

The problem should be solved for one wallet which has 0.6 BTC but for the 2nd wallet it's sad that he does not have anything to restore it. This is why crypto is not for everyone. It's risky if you do not know how to maintain it.

It sounds like he ordered a hardware wallet and they provided a key to track the delivery 😉

I have no idea what you mean by "Shipping/Remittance keys", TXID perhaps?
The Transaction IDs are public data that anyone can access in the blockchain, there's no way it can be used to recover lost funds.

Bitcoin works differently than the traditional payment systems.
Firstly, your funds are controlled by the your private keys which are in your wallet and backed-up as your 12-word phrase.
Secondly, Bitcoin doesn't have a central authority that manages the flow of money.
So, no one (even Trustwallet) can help your recover the funds unless you can remember the second wallet's 12-word backup phrase.

Sometimes stuff like this leaves me speechless. If you have several tens of thousand of dollars in an mobile wallet (!) that warns you that everything will be lost if you don't back it up, what did you think would happen. It is normal that phones break over time or get lost, so it was a 100% chance that at one point you will loose all your BTC. Maybe you did write down your seed at one point, because this is the only way to restore the funds if you can't get back the phone.

I'm sorry for your loss. Getting robbed is targeted or something. I hope they get what they deserve. It will be hard to recover those if you don't have the seed phrases. Most applications will warn you to back it up, whether written somewhere or something and as long as you are part of the crypto market, it will always be like that. You will be responsible for your seed/keys for the account.

Did you keep it on your laptop? You probably backed it up digitally, no? That's why you were worried about your computer.

He clearly kept everything in his laptop and mobile device which unfortunately not in his possession. When you have a wallet with serious amount of bitcoin then keeping the seed or private key in digital format is really very risky.

Even having all words in a piece of paper is also risky. Safe to separate it in many parts. Only you and a very close circle you trust will know the sequence. Place the parts in different vault or places which is really safe and fire proof. Whenever you need it, you collect them together and restore the wallet to move funds.

This is one of those instances where I'd recommend you to put the seed phrase inside a GPG encrypted file, store it on something like Lastpass, and write down the password to your Lastpass, or try to remember it in your head.

OP is unfortunately one of many who think that one seed covers all the wallets he makes, although every wallet will warn him to save a backup and it is hard to understand that someone ignores such a warning.

It is even stranger that the OP had the misfortune to have his smartphone and laptop stolen, and that he even had 17 BTC, considering that the average Brazilian can hardly afford something like that, even if it is an investment a few years back.

@aecio1987, place an ad in the newspaper and on the radio or put up posters that you look for your mobile phone because you have some things in it that you are sentimentally attached to - of course offer a reward to whoever returns your mobile phone, and the reward should be higher than the price of the mobile phone.
