Germany is winning the game but Spain has more possession of the ball...

Both the male and female teams of Spain play the same kind of football, where they try to hold possession, move the ball around until they find an open goal to score, this tactics is not always favorable, although beautiful to watch but it doesn't ensure winning especially against teams that are very efficient in attack like the German team. You have to try as much to get a goal at least before you start passing comfortably. Congratulations to the German side on their qualification to quarter finals, they were very impressive in defending their early lead especially Marina hegering who was awarded player of the match. Germany have the potential to get to the finals again if they can continue to improve with every performance.

I saw two teams with two different strategies in this match. Spain is reliant on keeping possession and Germany likes to play fluent fast paced football. If I know anything about football I know that in this day and age fast paced football is better than keeping possession and trying to advance.

Though I have to admit that Spain played well, I don't think all the possession was productive. Spain also had a few chances but they could not convert them into goals. I believe they will have to work on their finishing. Spain has made a lot of mistakes, to be honest, and the first of them came from the goalkeeper.

The match between Germany and Spain was unpredictable till the last moment I would say. Germany did score really quickly in that match and it really felt like Germany was in control when they scored the second goal. But Spain was actually really strong in that match as well. They were not able to score any goals, which was ultimately the only thing that mattered. However, I think Spain gave everything they had to make a comeback. But eventually, they lost to Germany 2-0.

Glad to see the level of attention this tournament is receiving. I am surprised with the fact that the matches are being covered by media here (India). Women's sport has become increasingly mainstream recently although large gaps still exist in terms of TV viewership and finances.

BTW, I am surprised with the England vs Norway match. I thought that Norway (similar to the other Scandinavian nations) are one of the strongest teams as far as women's football is considered. But they went down by such a massive margin (0-8) against England. None of the Scandinavian teams (Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Iceland) are in a position to top their group.

That was a big boost for Marina Hegering to playing in this game as she havnt played much last season in her Club.
If Germany can keep up the good playing and performance its possible that they can get into the Final.
They have so much good players specialy Alexandra Popp stood on the brink of whether she can be there.

I would say that its maybe possible that the Final can be England vs Germany.

In few minutes we are going to have two matches from Group A one is completely one-sided as England is already advance into next round, and they are going to face Northern Ireland which is already eliminated from this tournament but second match is going to be excited as Austria going to face Norway which never lost against Austria but in their last match they were humiliates by home team England with score of 8 - 0 so with this now it's important for them to win this match if they want to qualify for next round in any other case Austria is going to advance for next round.

Mead is currently leading scorer in this event, hopefully in today match she will extend her lead and will stay at top until the end of this event.

France in this event really dominates in Group D but indeed in this case I still feel they will find a commensurate opponent in the next round because we know there are some big teams as well who are now ready for it like England which is even now the goal still haven't conceded a goal there.

If I look at the draw, it looks like England are waiting for the winning team between Spain and Denmark and yes, whoever the opponent is, England will be a strong team in this event. In fact, England are the only team to have a total of more than 10 goals or rather have 14 goals without conceding at all. From the odds, it was already known and indeed the results were not far from the given odds, Germany won a landslide victory and their dominance was really crazy in my opinion in this match.
Look at their stats 33 shots from Germany only 1 kick from Finland. This is a very big gap, indeed, it is not wrong if Germany is so favored.
