lol, I'm really amused by the 9th fact Cheesy I'm a gambler and have never even violated the speed limit. I wonder how many people believe that?
~
~
This is why we called if as a Myths since many believes that getting into gambling is a crime well in fact many are still a good individual who are just trying to have fun and have some money as well. Though we cannot blame those people who think gambling is a crime, because maybe they experience this on their own and they might probably know someone who are already addict in gambling and commit a crime just to support that addiction, which is very common.
if you read this topic again [Japanese man gambled away a huge Covid-19 relief funds mistakenly sent to him] then you will no longer blame people who think that gamblers are criminals even though in reality not all gamblers are criminals

I am a gambler too but have never robbed, killed, been caught by the police and even stole but if my neighbors knew I was gambling then they would immediately say I am a criminal

I keep thinking that as long as I gamble not using people's money, debt or with money laundering then I am not a criminal, I gamble for my pleasure

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I have, and they are no better than any gambling addicts. growing up, I've seen a lot of them spending all day gambling while their husband is working. they would get angry if their kid/s ask for money to buy food. they would also get angry if the husband didn't make enough money for the day(a lot of the husbands are tricycle drivers).
That is a condition where the wife is very addicted to gambling because a wife must be able to take care of her children and help her husband in his household. If this is allowed, there will probably be many divorces and I feel sorry for those children because they could be depressed and traumatized by their childhood.

The one stated by acroman08 is also a common scene in my place.  Wives of drivers often have lots of free time since they don't have any other jobs.  If they are not gossiping, they are gambling with the little money they have.  Worst they are doing that stuff on the street, near the door of one of the players.  Then they get annoyed when their children asked for money to buy food.  I don't know the reason but their husband just tolerate their gambling activities.
Their husbands should warn their wives that what they are doing is not good for their family because it will result in a lack of money to meet their household needs. But if it were a local culture today, perhaps the wives would continue to gamble while the husbands worked. But at the very least, the environment must change so that the wives can realize their mistakes and put their family first before gambling. The local government's support by providing good direction and understanding to the wives may make them stop gambling.

It's easy to guess where these kids knew about gambling. It's either from an ad through search engines, social media banners. Or someone has just told them about it personally.

Everyone most likely has an easy access for internet these days and there's no restriction even for kids.
That's right. We can see how children today are addicted to using the internet, not to mention seeing things they shouldn't see or get. And when they see gambling, it can make them curious and want to try it. The internet provides it all and today, internet facilities are more adequate than a few years ago so that today's children can use them without their parents knowing.

It'll only create a trauma if the death is an accident or brutal and not with a normal cause.
When children have experienced trauma, it will be difficult to erase it from their memory because it makes them very afraid to step into new things.

if you read this topic again [Japanese man gambled away a huge Covid-19 relief funds mistakenly sent to him] then you will no longer blame people who think that gamblers are criminals even though in reality not all gamblers are criminals

I don't think it's relevant to compare an individual who commits a crime, especially one who violates the law regardless of his gambling activity, with the stigma that most public opinion says gamblers are criminals.
how many people think like that, is there any research, how many respondents assume gamblers are criminals, I think if there is research that says gamblers are criminals it must be accompanied by valid evidence and data.

due to the fact, only a few gamblers commit various crimes related to their gambling activities. In conclusion, if the stigma is true, I think all countries will ban casinos whether land or online.

Main myth I regularly hear about gambling is how you feel effects your bets. Which I think is %100 wrong. Gambling isn't something sentimental, you maximize your chances by your own skill, risk assessment, your intelligence etc. And luck side of game is nothing emotional. Its just about possibilities. You try to hit %1 to %10 possibility. People should be more materialistic about it.

That is without a doubt a false myth, now those which are addicted to gambling may in fact commit crimes in order to keep their addiction going, but this is true for those which are addicted and not exclusive to those which are addicted to gambling.

However they create a very bad image to the rest of the gambling community, which in part it is the reason why even in this day and age many people have such mistaken ideas about gambling in general and those which like to gamble as a hobby.

Well, that actually is more on Luck.
Gambling not in a good mood may not affect your bet but will affect the way you place your bets.
When you gamble with an upset mood and losses your composure, you might carelessly place your bets out of frustration and will drain your pocket in no time.
I personally experience that before when I had a pretty bad losing streak. Out of my frustrations, I've placed everything I've got left in my pocket to try to win it and make it even.

So, no it's not actually a hundred percent wrong. Bad moods will change the way you place your bets.

I tend to agree with what @Oasisman said because the mood will affect a person in thinking and acting.
If they had a bad heart, as he said, it could have a bad effect and if it was a gamble, he could lose in an instant.
We've all experienced frustration, but many of us can get over it and get out of it for now.
But we do hear a lot of myths out there about gambling and maybe some work.

Lesser compared from the numbers of men who are addicted with gambling, in most cases men got addicted because they are the provider and the money that came from their salaries, women are just waiting for men to give their budget, an old fashion lifestyle that still exist in most places all over world, though there are already places where modern women exist, the chance of gambling addicted is not by far.

Having their own money, they are free to whatever they desire to use it, and gambling just the same with how men got addicted

if getting engaged, women is not exempt not to fall into addictions.
I think it's not because men are the ones who provide money but it's only about the willingness. If women likes to then they can also play gambling if they will use the money that is given to them by their husbands and also not all men who primarily work for their family are into gambling but some are into a different hobby like drinking alcohol, smoking, and girls but I think a few percent of men don't have a bad habits at all but they love their family and for them their family is already enough to have more than anything. Gambling isn't really bad actually as long as we do it in moderation and this is better to do than some of the habits that I mentioned earlier.

What do you mean exactly when you said that “ People should be more materialistic about it”? Also I think you might be missing a little bit of truth when it comes to whether gambling is “sentimental” or not.  I find a lot of people will bet on emotion (such as putting money on their own favorite team). So I think there can be a sentimental aspect in some ways.

Also I think you might be missing a little bit of truth when it comes to whether gambling is “sentimental” or not.  I find a lot of people will bet on emotion (such as putting money on their own favorite team). So I think there can be a sentimental aspect in some ways.
I'm sure betting is more sentimental than anything. If not like everyone would bet like a pro gambler and take account of everything fairly. Else, sportsbooks have gone bankrupt and can't expand or we didn't have the motto: the house always wins.

lol, I'm really amused by the 9th fact Cheesy I'm a gambler and have never even violated the speed limit. I wonder how many people believe that?

This is why we called if as a Myths since many believes that getting into gambling is a crime well in fact many are still a good individual who are just trying to have fun and have some money as well. Though we cannot blame those people who think gambling is a crime, because maybe they experience this on their own and they might probably know someone who are already addict in gambling and commit a crime just to support that addiction, which is very common.
if you read this topic again [Japanese man gambled away a huge Covid-19 relief funds mistakenly sent to him] then you will no longer blame people who think that gamblers are criminals even though in reality not all gamblers are criminals

That is a rare case.  Not all gamblers will do that.  I think only a small percentage of gambler commit crimes, that is when they are deeply addicted to gambling and has no means to gamble so they resort to crimes.  It is still not right to generalize gamblers.  Because each one of them is different from the other.

Lol, your neighbors has an issue.  So better ignore them.  As long as you are not doing  anything wrong, they don't have the right to discriminate you.

Can't agree with that. The same story as with a drug junkie: They will try not to do that, but when they fall in big depression, they can do everything . Even to kill someone for money. And after the first successful case they will repeat it again and again, until get shot/jailed.

In hard times people doing horrible things. And gambling addiction creates such "hard times" very often.

Quote
Myth 3: If You Keep Playing, You Will Eventually Win Your Money Back.
>> Fact: The longer someone remains in active gambling addiction, the greater the losses.
And this is actually the very statement that has given birth to alot of addicted gamblers today all round the world. Having that mindset that someday they will actually win a game, not minding if they are losing, because it is just like a phycological method through which casino operators use to lure customers of there funds while trying to get it back playing over and over again

Quote
Myth 6: Knowing a Game Well Increases Your Odds of Winning
>> Fact: Gambling games are designed to not have any aspect that will increase the odds of winning purely out of knowledge or skill.
Yes of course, because knowing a game too well has the potential of increasing your chances of winning, but it doesn't gurantee a sure win, because as time goes on so do game tactics are been updated by its developers (for online games) and likely physical too

If you do project out yourself or been aware on where things could possibly go then you arent that dumb on liking that whereas you could possibly go to jail or would be shot up by someone just
because you do tolerate and follow up things inside your mind just because you do want money badly just for you to gamble which it wouldnt really be worth on messing or wasting up your life with.
You would definitely commit a crime if the level of your addiction comes into severe state on which you do really want to play but you dont have anymore funds?
You will really be thinking on other way and if it wouldnt be on legal way then of course you would be thinking about on the illegal one.  Cheesy
